Your winter skin saviour
I preach more than I practice. I teach more than I do. I talk the talk more than I walk the walk.
What I’m saying is, in short, I’ve been misbehaving when I should know better. Scratch that, I do know better.
Specifically, with my skin. See, I’ve been going on and on about how bad hot water and heaters are for your skin. I imagine you even pictured me wagging an authoritative finger at you as I warned of all the ways they can dry out your skin. But alas, this cold weather has had me, well, ignoring that. And I’m paying for it. Hard. My skin has lost its lustre and radiance and its way flakier than I’d like. Which means my make-up isn’t looking quite right. So overall, I’m a bit frustrated. At my skin and at myself for letting it get to this point.
But don’t cry for me (or yourself if you’re in the same predicament) just yet. Because there is a solution. Well, there’re two. 1) Stop with the hot water and heaters. It’s enough already. 2) Intense hydration, and stat.
And so I’ve turned to facial oil. Sanctuary Spa Therapists Secret Facial Oil to be exact.
Imagine your skin is a vat of oil. Each day that passes, some oil leaves the vat but some oil is also put back into the vat so that the level is always the same. Add heat and hot water into the mix, and that vat is losing more oil than it’s getting. If your skin’s oil levels aren’t right, you’ll find your complexion can become dry, flaky, and even oilier to try and compensate for the lack of oil.
The Sanctuary Spa oil – made up from oils of sunflower, jojoba, rosehip and wheat germ – works to replenish your skin’s natural oil content (i.e. getting your vat of oil level again) in no time at all. “The oil will penetrate deep into the skin, nourishing deeper layers of the skin and plumping for a dewy effect,” says Nichola Joss, Sanctuary Spa skincare expert. Plus, it smells as divine as it feels.
Oh, and if you have oily skin and the thought of applying oil to your already oily skin is giving you heart palpitations – trust me, it’ll work wonders for you too.
Hot tip: treat yourself to a shmancy facial at home with the Sanctuary Spa Therapists Secret Facial Oil. Follow Nichola’s tips for ultimate luxurious pampering:
The Sanctuary Therapist’s Secret Facial Oil is a fantastic treatment for facial massage at home as it is super nourishing and contains a blend of natural oils to rejuvenate and brighten skin.
Massage the oil into skin every evening before bed, this encourages lymphatic drainage and boosts hydration. Just pop a couple of drops into your palms, close your eyes and take a few deep breaths in to enjoy the aroma of the oil, before massaging the oil into your skin gently in smooth sweeping movements working from the centre of the face outwards. Instead of dry, parched skin this will leave your complexion dewy, plump and glowing.
