Coconut oil: skin and hair wonder
I’ve long been on the hunt for an ingredient that was powerful enough to nourish my skin on a whole other level, smells great (as some ingredients just don’t smell as amazing as I’d like) and is available in a number of different products I can use daily.
Luckily when it comes to chasing down beauty products, or in this case, ingredients, I’m in the best gig possible – so it wasn’t long before I discovered coconut oil and its many benefits (okay, so my discovery was largely due to bh member poiisonbug for starting this forum thread).
Until recently, I had no idea just how amazing this super ingredient was. Did you know that coconut oil contains many marvellous benefits, such as improving hair and skin health, relieving stress, maintaining cholesterol levels, assisting weight-loss, increasing immunity, aiding proper digestion and metabolism, and relieving kidney problems, heart diseases and high blood pressure?
So I did a little research and discovered that the benefits come from the presence of lauric acid, capric acid and caprylic acid, which include antioxidant, antifungal, antibacterial and soothing properties – helping you get healthier skin and hair, stat.
So I put myself to work, and came up with a few products that will provide a nourishing dose of coconut oil for your hair and skin, and make you feel all the more fabulous for it!
Radox Macadamia & Coconut Oil Shower Cream – ph balanced and enriched with a blend of coconut oil and macadamia oil, your skin will be silkier and smoother than ever before.
Sundari Neem and Coconut Hair Treatment Oil – this therapeutic and rejuvenating hail oil features essential oils as well as coconut oils to strengthen the hair shaft and repair damage.
Burt’s Bees Coconut Foot Crème – dry and calloused feet won’t stand a chance against this moisturising blend of coconut oil, olive oil and lanolin that will leave you feeling footloose and fancy free!
Reef Coconut Body Butter - smooth this non-greasy body butter all over your body and you'll be left with a lingering scent reminiscent of a tropical island holiday. Oh, and your skin will be super nourished too!
What is your favourite super ingredient? Why?
