The perils of not owning a bath

The perils of not owning a bath

Don’t get me wrong, I love showers. But there are some things that only a bath can do. And trust me, you don’t realise just how good that deep ceramic tub is until you have to live without one. It’s been a good eight months since my last bath, and these are just some of the things that have been tearing me up inside…

TROUBLE #1 – No hangover soaks

Sundays are definitely the day I miss baths the most. All I want to do is wash away Saturday night’s efforts without having to stand – is that so much to ask? And before you even think of suggesting it, I’ve already tried to fit a chair in my shower. It didn’t work.

TROUBLE #2 – No ‘easy access’ shaving

Shaving every centimetre of each leg is already hard enough, but when I owned a bath, at least I had a clearer view. Whether I did it during a soak sesh or simply popped my leg up on the side for a speedy job, the bath was my shaving bestie. Now, when shaving in the shower, I have to make sure the rest of my body is still in the water (so I don’t freeze) AND keep my balance as I try to reach my ankles. #firstworldproblems.

If you’re in the same boat (or shower) as me, I find the Schick Intuition Pure Nourishment razor perfect for shower shaving. Not only does it have a pivoting head to reach those stray hairs around the knees and ankles, it has wire wrapped blades which help to protect your skin from nicks and cuts. Plus it has a solid soapy bar surrounding the razor, to lather and moisturise with every stroke. Showers just got a whole lot easier…

TROUBLE #3 – No two-day hairstyles

Even if I manage to keep my hair away from the water in the shower, the steam that accumulates within the glassed-off area is enough to turn my perfectly curled ‘do into a frizzy mess. Back when I had a bath, I could turn the taps on, leave the room while the steam settled (a much quicker process in an open space), and then soak without a worry in the world.

TROUBLE #4 – No fun bath products

But most of all, I never get to use any new and amazing bath products. It’s devastating. I used to love lighting a candle and popping in the latest bath salts, bath bombs, bubble bath or a mixture of all! So if you’re lucky enough to own a bath, do me a favour and try these goodies out? I’d love to know what they’re like!

  1. Thalgo Polynesia – Lagoon Water Bath Pebble
  2. Estée Lauder Youth-Dew Bath Oil
  3. Lush Granny Takes a Dip Bath Bomb
  4. philosophy field of flowers peony blossom shampoo, shower gel & bubble bath
