    Eau Thermale Avène XeraCalm A.D. Lipid-Replenishing Cleansing Oil is a very gentle soap-free cleansing base formulated for skin prone to atopic dermatitis that cleanses the skin and protects it against the drying effects of water. The formula of XeraCalm A.D. Cleansing Oil was created using a minimum of ingredients: The I-Modulia complex, result of 12 years of scientific development, reduces itching sensations caused by skin dryness and soothes redness and irritation caused by the skin's hyper-reactivity. Cer-Omega, lipids which resemble those found in the skin, helps to repair, nourish and strengthen the protective film, giving the skin better resistance against external aggressions. Fragrance and soap free, it is formulated to minimise the risk of allergic reaction and it is non comedogenic. Apply morning or evening.

    Marvellous Cleanser, But Pricey!

    My oily skin loves oil cleansers. My skin isn't sensitive, but it is blemish & blackhead prone. Since using this cleanser, my skin has been looking wonderfully clear. If it weren't for the high price, I would purchase this again.

    Some oil cleansers have a cream or gel consistency, but they're called oil cleansers because of an oil ingredient. XeraCalm is a proper oil: yellow & runny. It becomes a white foam when you add water.

    Made in France.

    INGREDIENTS: Avène Thermal Spring Water, Water, Glycerin, PEG-7 Glyceryl Cocoate, Disodium Laureth Sulfosuccinate, Sodium Cocoamphoacetate, PEG-25 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Ceteareth-60 Myristyl Glycol PE- 200 Hydrogenated Glyceryl Palmate, Laureth-3, Coco-Glucoside Aquaphilus Dolomiae Extract, Arginine, Caprylyl Glycol, Citric Acid, Evening Primrose Oil/Palm Oil Aminopropanediol Esters, Glycine, Oenothera Biennis (Evening Primrose) Oil, Sorbic Acid, Tocopherol.

    For sensitive and dry skin

    The Avene cleansing oil is great for those who have dry, sensitive skin and/or suffer from eczema and need something very gentle and soothing. It is soap free and comes in a 400ml body that is easy to pour out.

    The oil itself is actually a light consistency in my opinion and is neither heavy nor greasy. I mixed a bit of the oil with a small amount of water, mixed it together till it started creating a very small amount of foam. I used it to wash my face and noticed that it had a peculiar scent but I couldn't quite figure out what it was.

    The oil did a great job of cleansing my skin without causing any irritation. I found that you could use it not only for your face but the rest of your body as well. Sometimes I will get random dry patches or eczema break outs which make it really painful to wash with a regular body wash so this cleansing oil would really come in handy for those moments.

    Any Tips?: 
    Can be used for both your face and body
    Ideal For...: 
    Dry, sensitive, irritated and eczema prone skin

    A Gentle Cleanse For Irritated Skin

    This all-over body and face cleansing oil is soothing and fully refreshing for dry or irritated skin. It makes my skin feel relaxed and clean. It thoroughly removes all grime, dirt and odour off the body.

    I put a bit of this into my hand and wipe it all over the area I'm going to cleanse. Then I add a touch of water and it lathers up into a white, fine low-foam emulsion on the skin. It is soap-free so it's very, very low 'sudsing' if you can even call it that. After a minute or so of rubbing it all over the area, I then rinse it off. It rinses off very easily and leaves the skin feeling fresh, hydrated and clean.

    There is no scent really and it is a clear thickish oil. The plastic bottle is 100ml and could easily be travelled with.

    Any Tips?: 
    I like to use this sometimes as a handwash if my hands are feeling very dry. This oil thoroughly yet gently hydrates and cleans my hands.

    Keep a bottle by the tap to use as a handwash.

    Squeeze the oil from the bottle carefully or you can easily squeeze out too much!

    Use in conjunction with the other Avene XeraCalm products.
    Ideal For...: 
    Dry skin, sensitive and/or irritated skin. Great for all over the body but if you want you can even use it as a soothing face cleanser too.

    Not my favourite

    I tried the XeraCalm bath oil on my toddlers skin and it seemed to make his eczema a little worse. I have since switched to the Trixera and find this working well for him.

    Seeing as the XeraCalm is quite expensive, i've started using it myself & find it to be quite nice to use as a body wash, however I don't have any skin issues to really comment on its effectiveness for eczema affected skin. I have used it on my face and haven't had any breakouts & my skin doesn't feel 'stripped' afterwards which is a good thing.

    Having said that, I do like the scent, it is quite mild and similar to the rest of the Avene range. My only other gripe is with the container is that the pump sometimes feels like it just pumps air even though I can feel half the bottle still full. I have to pump it nearly 20 times to get the product out which can be frustrating (esp. as you can't unscrew it to check what is going on inside!).

    Ideal For...: 
    Probably better for eczema affected skin when the skin isn't 'broken' from scratching. Ample as a body/face wash also.
