We heart tonging

We heart tonging

What better way to channel carefree summer locks than with good old curly locks? Luckily for us, John Frieda was thinking the same. Even luckier? The kind people at JF invited us backstage at the launch of its new range, Luxurious Volume, to have a quick chinwag with hairdressing guru and tonging king extraordinaire, David Keough.

David’s top tonging tips:

•    Don’t try and tong heavily conditioned sleeky locks – the curl will fall quicker than you can say ‘tongtastic’
•    Divide hair into sections and give each one a quick spritz with hairspray before tonging
•    Don’t tong right to the end for that effortless, not-quite-polished, bed-head look that never goes out of fashion
•    Pin up each curl for 20 minutes to let it set, then release, shake, and go get ‘em

Tools of the trade:

John Frieda Luxurious Volume Lavish Lift™ Root Booster

Sunsilk Staying Power Flexihold Hairspray

VS Sassoon Ceramic Instant Heat Tong – 25mm

Lady Jayne Bobby Pins

Fellow bouncing enthusiasts…
