This week we’re going global. So if you fancy stealing Kate’s London look, saying “bonjour” to beautiful buys and stocking up on some Tokyo treats then we’ve got just the ticket. Of course a quick look at New York’s Fifth Avenue couldn’t harm either…

US

Calvin Klein

It seems that the ‘all American’ boy can do no wrong. Especially in the fragrance world: hands up who wore cK One religiously in the 90s. Who didn’t utter “obsession” in a Sixth Sense voice for their own amusement? (Obviously we’re now far more mature and spritzing ourselves in sexy Eternity Moment). Little wonder he’s earned himself the nickname Calvin the Conqueror.

Elizabeth Arden
The Canadian-born Florence Nightingale Graham (as she was known back then) became Elizabeth Arden back in 1909 when she opened her first beauty salon (she thought parlour too “homely”). The wonder woman then began to formulate, manufacture and sell her own cosmetic products. And boy, are we glad – we can’t get through the day without Vintage Eight Hour Cream Skin Protectant.

Revlon
Founded in 1932 by brothers Charles and Joseph Revson (along with chemist Charles Lachman who’s responsible for the ‘l’), this worldwide brand started out with a single product: opaque, long-lasting nail enamel. Using pigments instead of dyes, Revlon was able to offer a wide variety of shades that were previously never available. Our favourite today? Fuchsia Fever.
