They say that sharing is caring, so if you have shortcuts and handy
hints that you simply can’t go without, you’d do well to share them
with your fellow fanatics…
So we’d like to give a huge thank you to everyone who submitted a
beauty tip or trick that works for them – without these submissions,
I’d have no idea that oranges can help to whiten teeth or that frosty
foundation can be a godsend.
Hint: If your tip has been bolded, then you’ll be scoring a $100 beauty basket to thank you for your brilliance.

Hair

“Spray your comb or hair brush with your favourite perfume and then brush your hair. It’ll add a subtle fragrance to your hair and make you feel good!” – mary carra

“For volume the next day; wash your hair, apply voluminiser or root lift, blow dry hair 3/4 dry, then put your hair in a bun. Leave overnight and sleep on your hair. When you wake in the morning, take the bun out and volia – so much volume. Style and brush hair as desired.” – ray_jay

“If you suddenly have frizzy hair (and in humid Australia this happens so often in summer), put a drop of water and a drop of styling gel or balm into your hands and work through your hair. Pull your hair into a twist or a tight bun for about 15 minutes. Instant awesome hair!” – bide

“Degrease oily hair with witch hazel by applying to the roots with a cotton ball.” – melmeko

“For an intense conditioning treatment, pour half a cup of olive oil over your hair”¨and wrap it in a towel and leave to soak for two hours. Wash hair three times in a row with regular cheap shampoo and DO NOT use conditioner. Comb through whilst still wet and let hair dry naturally. Your hair will look and feel amazing!” – Sooty1

“Need shiny hair but can’t afford a hair mask? Don’t panic, all you need is your normal conditioner, some time, and either a shower cap or cling wrap. Wash your hair with shampoo as normal but when you apply your conditioner pop a little extra in and really massage it into your scalp. Don’t rinse your conditioner out, leave it in and either put a shower cap on or if you don’t have one run to the kitchen (clothes optional if you live alone) and wrap your head with cling wrap. Your body heat will warm up your hair and the conditioner will work even better and give you really great results. Leave in for 10-15 minutes then rinse out. Voila! Healthy, shiny hair and you didn’t have to buy a single thing.” – Hely

“Never wash your hair on same day as you want to wear an up ‘do. (I’m a hairdresser.) Your hair is too soft and slippery to hold a good style. Pins can slip out and backcombing isn’t as effective. If you’re worried about greasy hair wash the night before otherwise, a couple of days prior is perfect.” – Eviesmum

“When colouring hair – make sure that hair hasn’t been washed for a day. The natural hair oils will assist in making the hair colour application more successful. The colour will adhere better to hair that is not dry.” – cms0909

“To freshen up your hair after a night out when you don’t have the time to wash it, spray a light mist of your perfume on your hairbrush and then brush through your hair. The alcohol in your perfume tends to get rid of any oiliness and leaves hair smelling great (and not like smoke!)” – lalaynie

“If you have sun-damaged or bleach-damaged hair, give it a treatment with Nestle Condensed Milk, it puts strength back into your hair. I think it has something to do with the collagen in the milk.” – Janecanbefound
