Feline flirty?

Paris Haute Couture shows are something I look forward to with relish. Not, for one second, because I’ll ever be able to afford anything that struts down the catwalk – I won’t – or because I think I’ll be able to pull off the daring hair looks on display – I daren’t even attempt – but because I hope, with all my heart, that there will be a make-up look that I’ll not only master, but also be able to sport ‘sans stares’ in real life.

It’s not happened yet. But I was right to hold out hope as it seems 2009 is my year. And Chanel cat eyes is my look.

It’s a little bit punk, a little bit ‘60s Bardot and, dare I say it, a little bit Amy Wino and I for one just love it.

Now I couldn’t make it to Paris myself, it appears my invite got lost in the mail, but Peter Phillips, Global Director of Make-up for Chanel spilled a top tip to style.com: to start, “look straight into the mirror and use an eyeliner pencil to mark with small dots where you want the eyeliner to start and end.” Then simply connect the dots. Simple, yet oh so sultry.

My pick of killer black liners:

Bourjois Clubbing Liner in Absolute black – this liquid liner combines shimmering and light-reflecting colours with an ultra-resistant texture. Yep, no amount of perspiration, rubbing or heat will diminish this intense beauty.

MAC Penultimate Eye Liner – this liquid pen-style liner provides a precise, bold line in a rich, deep carbon black shade. Easy peasey to do in one steady stroke.

Bare Escentuals bareMinerals Eye Liner Shadows in Onyx – this eyeliner colour is an intensive blend of mineral pigments that are crushed to a smooth powder. It can be used dry or wet and is perfect for sensitive eyes.

Clinique Brush-On Cream Liner in True Black – this creamy liner brushes on with ease, is incredibly long-wearing and waterproof. You can smudge it while still wet for a smokier effect.

Would you give the ol’ cat eyes a go?
