Does not absorb and moisturise well. Heavy on the lips.

The waxy formula kinda felt heavy on my lips. It didn't moisturize my dry, chapped lips. I still use it for the SPF.

Very Disappointing

I approached this lip balm with great enthusiasm after reading some reviews. The first thing I noticed was the horrible smell. I thought it was very unpleasant. The balm was a very hard waxy consistency which made it very hard to apply. When I did manage to scratch some balm up it did not absorb well and it gave a burning sensation. To be honest I did not like this product at all and would never buy it again. The best things about it is that it has an spf factor and that it is not tested on animals.

RESPONSE FROM BRAND:
We’re sorry to hear about your experience with Burt’s Bees Sun Protecting Lip Balm. The 100% natural product is formulated using pure and gentle ingredients which shouldn’t cause any discomfort to the skin. We’d like to say thanks for taking the time to try our product and we’re sorry it didn’t suit you.

I like it

It's pretty waxy and comes on fairly thick (probably because of the SPF). However, I find it to be a great, long-lasting balm but probably not the best value for money, but great for those who love the brand's philosophy

Surprising winter remedy...

Up until a week ago, I couldn’t see what all the fuss was about – glowing reviews from bh’ers made me start to think I had a dodgy batch of this balm. It seemed to be quite dull and dry, and barely any moisturising qualities at all, so much so that I was going to give it 2 or 3 stars. I keep my lips hydrated all day with lipstick and gloss (constant reapplications!) and at night I use a specialized lip product, so I don’t normally use lip balms, and therefore wasn’t sure what to expect, but it didn’t seem to do anything special for my lips…until this week when I came down with a nasty cold/virus. The tissues were chafing my lips and the skin around my nose something fierce, so I trotted out my almost-discarded tube of Burt’s Bees – well it turned out to be a TOTAL skin saver. Thanks to BB, the area around my nose isn’t red raw as usual, not even the teeniest bit pink, no peeling skin, and my lips will most certainly live to kiss another fella. It’s fantastic for this particular purpose because it doesn’t feel greasy or gooey, is invisible and soothing, and certainly prevents chafing. I’m thrilled to have found how this product works best for me, and it’s now on my list of winter must-haves…

Passion for this balm.

I suffer from extremley dry lips to the point that I often have to put eczema cream on my lips and after trying hundreds (yes I mean literally hundreds) of different lip balms, ointments and creams I decided to give this a go. I was a little worried at first when I put the lip balm on my lips as it was a very dry consistency. I felt instant hydration once I applied this lip balm and my lips stayed hydrated for hours and once the lip balm had disapered into my lips the hydration remained the same and I did not notice any signs of peeling/flaking lips or a tight sensation. The balm has a lovely flavor and smell to it and the packaging is convenient as it's not in a tin or squeezable bottle.

average lip balm

It's not as great as I expect it to be. A bit too thick and makes my lips feels uncomfortable.

Sun Protecting Lip Balm SPF 8

I love a product that actually does what it says!! This lovely balm soothes, nourish and rejuvenates dry and chapped lips with the added protection of SPF. It's great to have something all natural on the lips so the thin skin is not absorbing any nasties. With continued use, lips become better and better in condition. Lips end up looking fuller as they become more healthy with all the lovely nourishing ingredients. This could definately be seen also as a great anti aging treatment for the lips ! It's so easy to use, snap of the cap wind up a little bit and apply. This can be done with one hand - no problems! It's nice and compact so easy to keep in any hand bag, pocket etc. And at the wallet friendly price of $6.95, this little goodie is totally affordable! An absolute steal!

yer OK

This is an ok lip balm. It doesn't have a high SPF but its better than most lip balms. It moisturised my lips at the beginning than within a few days it stopped working- as do ALL lip balms i've used. Maybe this is just me because i have a vitamin deficiency but i wouldn't recommend this, a simple cheaper one vaseline does the job better minus the sunscreen.

Natural and safe for my kids too

I love this product for me and my kids. I agree with some of the other reviews that it isn't as moisturizing as some others I have tried but for me the big plus is the natural ingredients. My two year old has a fascination for eating lip balm (she has eaten four) the last three have been burts bees honey one which didn't stress me anywhere as much as when she ate the whole tub of blistex!

Personally my favorites are the tinted ones with the minty taste but the honey one is safer for my daughter so that's the one I keep in my handbag!

HG lip balm!

This lipbalm is amazing - super moisturising and doesn't need to be applied too often, as you can still feel the effects after a while. The SPF is definitely a bonus. I've converted all my friends to Burts Bees balms!
