Six of the best: spa treatments

Most of us don’t have the time or the money to shimmy to the salon every time we’re feeling a little deflated. But that’s what makes it simply marvellous when we do book ourselves in for a pampering treat or two…
And it’s not just limited to a simple massage or a facial these days. There’s a treatment to suit every need or problem you may endure; from Chakra Balancing Massages, to detoxing heat wraps and everything in between. The beautyheaven team had the arduous task of road-testing six of the best spa-treatments, just so we could report back to you with the goods…

Aveda Chakra Balancing Massage
“This was so much more than your average massage. The moment you step into an Aveda salon you feel the experience again. My therapist explained that she would be working on energising my chakra points, seven altogether that are located in various places along the spine, such as the top of the head, throat and stomach. To begin I had to pick three Chakra cards that took my liking, which would represent either my symbol name or colour. I was then made to close my eyes and sniff the corresponding essential oil for each chakra chosen. I settled on number two – Expressive. My treatment then kicked off with a pampering foot bath before the massage began (I was treated to a deep tissue massage, focusing on the tension in my shoulders and upper back). My therapist described each chakra point as she massaged, and explained how the point of this massage isn’t to tune out like in regular massage treatments; the goal is to focus on your thoughts and breathing to relieve stress. After the massage came a relaxing foot reflexology and a scalp massage – I was in heaven! This is highly recommended if you’re after an all-round excellent experience, more than just a simple spa treatment.” Rating: 5/5 – bh’sOlivia

I am a self confessed massage junkie. Love learning about new massage techniques. The Aveda massage sounds like heaven as it incorporates foot bath, foot massage and head massage. Must have one soon.

would love to find out more about my chakra points. I would love to have a weekly facial, but I doubt that I could afford it.

I have heard about chakra points before. And am unsure as to whether I believe them. But I would be interested in finding them out to see if I notice a difference. When I pay attention to certain areas. xox
