Going under the knife?

If you’ve ever considered having a boob job (and remember, that also includes reductions and reconstructions, not just enlargements!) then you’ll want to be around for our live forum chat with Dr Michael Miroshnik.
He’s a fully qualified, Australian-trained Plastic Surgeon who specialises in short scar, minimally invasive plastic surgery of the breast, face and body and has performed over 5,000 surgical procedures in his career.
So in actual fact, if you’ve ever considered any form of plastic/cosmetic surgery then you’ll want to be around for our live chat (how often do you get to consult a cosmetic surgeon for free?). Dr Miroshnik will also be able to answer any questions that you might have about www.realbreastimplants.com.au (please note: this link will only work once the website launches on November 2nd), which documents the experiences of three women undergoing breast augmentations for various reasons.
Our live forum chat will take place from 6.30 – 7.30pm on Wednesday 2nd November 2011 in a dedicated forum thread (click here to go straight to the thread), so make sure you’ve got your computer on and your questions at the ready!
Not going to be able to make our live forum chat? Leave your questions in the comments section of this blog and we'll do our best to get them answered on the night.
What do you want to know about breast augmentation, or any other form of cosmetic surgery?

Not for me - I love my size 10B's!! They are perfect for my active lifestyle and I'm really happy the way I am.
This is great though I expect for people who have had cancer and want rectification.

I wouldn't consider any plastic surgery. I believe if you were born this way it was for a reason. I like the way i look. Great to hear a few beauties agree with me.

I would definitely consider a breast reduction! Is it possible (after a reduction) to get them lifted WITHOUT implants?? And what are the chances of being able to breast feed after a reduction?

Yeah, i'm also with softness :) I'm the same lol, 10B and im very active, so i don't want bigger boobs. I'm also only petite, so I it'd look weird to have big boobs. I also agree with Mariek, I won't ever consider plastic surgery unless it was for medical reasons (if i ever did have have breast cancer, etc). Plus, i also think i was born this way for a reason. My boobs are mine, they are apart of me! They belong to me, and I wouldn't ever want to change them. They are for feeding babies when I give birth in the future, and I would like to have them both natural for that.

I am definitely against it as I believe that you should love yourself and should not change what god has given you.. ;)

I'm not against it as BIG boobs run in my family and I mean BIG as everyone is at least an E cup going up to an I cup. My poor sister has huge ones, which not only cause her pain but embarassment from people staring or making snide remarks.. It effects her as she gets severe back pain and emotionally pain too from comments etc.. I am supportive of her choice to get it done after having kids, as it will make her feel alot better.

That sounds like a good idea MissChriss. A breast reduction would be a blessing in many a circumstance I'm sure. You're sister sounds brave by waiting 'til after she has bubs.
Sounds like there are a few other 10B'ers out there!! lol It's a very comfy size! I can definitely recommend it for those women who do need to downsize for their health reasons.

I was insane enough to get implants many years ago they were done by a well known Certified Plastic Surgeon *a nameless sod* they were placed a tad too low & dropped below the scar ! looked terrible I had to wear a bra & ended up they started to leak these were the days of silicone implants ,anyway the company finally recognized they were faulty & I had them removed at no cost other than pain & the plastic surgeon who was once a 'Dream' told me I was over reacting.Thank god they were removed never again.

I don't think I will go down that path however I am BF atm and once I'm finished I may have different thoughts. I wouldn't get them done for size but more so for enhancing the volume and I support those who get them done for various reasons whether it's because of cancer or enhancing ones confidence. I personally don't know enough people who have gone done that path so I guess my conern is the side effects and horror stories you hear about implants leaking or looking deformed and worse off before the surgery. One procedure I'd really love to get is Lasik or eye procedure to improve my short sighted vision.

I wouldn't consider plastic surgery because any type of surgery scares me. You always hear of people getting blotched surgeries or complications and I don't want to take any risk.

I would want a 100% guarantee that the procedure would work. No leakages or hardening of the boobs, no chance of blood poisoning......####Sandra

I would only consider surgery on my boobs if it were to improve my medical/health wellbeing. I wouldn't change them for appearance reasons

It great that you're offering information that is important. I think every woman should do what's right for themselves. Personally I wouldn't consider any yet but who knows!

I had a breast aumentation when I was 33 and i felt that i really needed it and there are many reasons why. I made sure i did my reaserch and checked out 3 surgeons before i decieded and i made sure that they could show me some pictures which they did and so i also asked were they members of the plastic surgeons guild. And they gave me advice and only 1 sounded abit off putting. So i went ahead and have never regretted it. And i didnt go all dolly parton either i took the advice of my surgeon and the results were better than i thought. But make sure you do your research and often other woman will be happy to talk to you about it .

Different strokes for different folks. I prefer to allow my body to live through experiences nd have the history written on my body. My breasts say that I breastfed my two boys for 19 mths each, my abdomen stretch marks state I gave birth twice, my wrinkles say that I have spent happy times in the sun, the scar on my back states I had a mole cut out from the aforementioned sun worship, my grey hairs (covered!!) are testimony to the thinking I have done about the complexities of life and what to do to help others, and the list goes on. A "perfect" person has nothing written on them, and those who erase their life writings either hate them to remove them, or devalue those experiences. But then again, I truly admire those who have the guts to change themselves. Means they have a vision they wish to fulfill - that can be a hard thing to do. So, it says they have something to say too.

I would love to know about cosmetic surgery for the eye area. I have hooded eyelids and some deeper lines under the eye and at the sides of my eyes. What procedure would you suggest for this? And how much would it cost?

My question would be. Is it true that you have to change the implant (silicone) every ten years?
