Video: Time to say goodbye

It’s a sad day in the beauty world when you find out that one of your all-time favourite products is being discontinued.
And today, I begin my bid farewell (and my mad rush to the supermarkets to snap up each and every last remaining tube) to a product that’s been my faithful friend for many years – Rimmel Sunshimmer Sexy Legs with Lycra.
Oh the memories we’ve shared together and the sickly white situations it’s helped me get through…
Here’s a little vid on just why I love this product:

Have you ever had to say goodye to a favourite beauty buy? What was it?
PS - don't forget that Teen Choice Awards voting closes at midnight this coming Sunday (18th July 2010), so be sure to get your reviews in for your chance to win!

I'm with you Deb, I hate it too. I'm always wondering why they discontinue the good product...

I nearly cried when the only lipstick color I wore for over 5 years was discontinued. They did me a favour cos it opened my eyes to what else is out there in makeup and skin care. I'm much happier now using brands that are healthier and my skin has never been better.
Every cloud has a silver lining.

OMG! When I saw 'Time to say goodbye' and your picture there Deb... nearly had a heart attack! Sucks that Rimmel is discontinuing this product. I had to say goodbye to my favourite foundation, L'Oreal Ideal Balance Foundation for Combination skin. I can't find it in stores anywhere!! So I've been trying to search online for it :(

It was a Biorevive product for sensitive teeth - now I buy from overseas to purchase a similar product. I contacted the company when I found it so hard to purchase and they said they were discontinuing it because no-one was really buying it - but I was!! It was always extremely hard to find and I think that was why no-one was actually buying it. Marketing can make such a huge difference to the success of a product.

Why, oh why, oh why do they do this to us? Although by the look on your face ,Deb, I thought the unthinkable. That you were the one going. At least losing a product is somewhat less painful.
I too have had this happen but worse. When I loved overseas I used a great lip balm that really helped when I had a cold. I came back to Oz and a friend was going back there so I asked her to buy half a dozen tubes of this stuff. Alas, they had changed the formula...for the worse not better. I now have tubes of this stuff that I really don't like.
I found a replacement here....eventually.

Me too, thought omg Deb is leaving BH, oh no... but luckily not. I'm always afraid that one of my favourite items will be discontinued one day. So now when I do find a product that I truly love, I buy 3 of them at once, and when I start to use the second one, I go and buy 2 more just to stock it up.

Deb you scared me! I thought YOU were the one going! cheese and rice, don't do that again! ;).... I can't think of any products I love that have been discontinued, actually maybe my rimmel mono eyeshadow in saucy mint, can't find that anywhere these days... shame cause the green suits my eyes to a "T"!

Estee Lauder discontinue my faves ALL THE TIME and it really peeves me off.
many years ago the did the Time Zone moisturizer, it was DEVINE! the most beautiful rich but not heavy texture with a lovely subtle rose fragrance and they discontinued it, years later they've bought out a new version which is no where near as nice so i refuse to buy it.
they did the same with my mascara and foundation. if it works don't mess with it people.

I had the same instant reaction Deb, thought you were leaving us way too soon! I've not tried this Rimmel product before but since it is going I have to get my hands on a tube and give it a try... it definitely looked well worth it! The only problem is how will I ever cope when I love it and then run out?!? Thankfully I have never really had to deal with the loss of a beauty fave before!

you know what i was just thinkin about this last week, i remember years ago when i was a teenager, i fell in love with this absoloutly beautiful soap called cleopatra, it was devine, i would buy it with my pocket money, it was my little luxury which made me feel and smell like an egyptian goddess, i never cared how much it cost, it was worth every penny for the way it made me feel. when it was taken off the market i was devestated, its been years since then and recently i found this soap on ebay, it is taking every ounce of strenght to resist paying $20 au for this 1 bar of soap from the uk,

No, not yet. Fortunately, I tend to move quickly onto something new...which I find even better! Come to think of it, I do miss Blackmore's coverstick with tea tree oil, which was my can't live without product during my teens. However, I've found Rimmel's Hide that Blemish Coverstick in Soft Honey to be a good replacement. I'm currently blending it with my Lancome Hydra Zen TM in Sable and it's working really well. : )
I feel for you, Deb and hope that you can stock up on Rimmel's Sunshimmer! I'm also especially glad you are not leaving us! I adore your blogs and am loving your makeup here...so I'm hoping to catch many more of your beauty adventures! : )

There was a product by L'Oreal and it was a frizz smoothing gel creme, that was fantastic. It controlled the frizz without the weight and it didn't make my roots oily the next day. When I heard from my HD that it was discontinued I bought the last 5 bottles. I haven't found another product like this since. : ( I am still on the lookout.
