Too hot to handle

OMG. I’m having a meltdown – literally. It’s currently 36 degrees in Sydney, and the air-conditioning in our building has decided to die on us. I’m seriously so hot I’m sweating from places I didn’t even know could produce sweat!!
If I could have my wish list fulfilled right now, it’d include the following:
1.) A massive swimming pool to dive into (or at this rate even a small puddle would do).
2.) A never-ending pack of Frosty Fruits to help keep me cool in a tasty way.
3.) A degree in air-conditioning science so I could go up into the roof and fix this damn thing!
Unfortunately I have none of the above. What I do have at my disposal are these few saviours that are helping me get through the day:
Nutrimetics Soul Renewal Corsica Cooling Foot Crème
They say that if your feet are cool, the rest of your body will feel cool too, so I decided to give the theory a go with this revitalising foot cream. While I can’t say that my entire body feels that much colder, it has definitely refreshed my sweaty feet!
Sheer Cover Refreshing Face Mist
It’s official – when you’re feeling as hot and sweaty as I am, there’s nothing better than spritzing your face with a cold mist (tip: pop it in the fridge for a while for a really refreshing experience). This product has definitely helped keep my complexion feeling hydrated and sweat-free.
NIVEA Deodorant Energy Fresh
When things get this hot and sweaty, it’s time to call in the big guns (no-one wants to run the risk of stinking out the office after all!) This multi-purpose deo not only keeps perspiration at bay, but it also leaves you feeling fresh and energised. Plus it smells great too!

Have you ever been so hot you literally don’t know what to do with yourself? What are your tips for surviving the heat?

We reached 40C today in Melbourne before a huge temperature drop of 10C in ten minutes!
Not that long ago on the day of the Black Saturday fires I was so hot I didn't do a thing but lie down and drink water.
To keep cool I keep a spray bottle with cool and clean water nearby for spraying on the skin. If I'm lying down or trying to sleep a wet/moist flannel on my mid back, around my neak or around my face helps.
If I can find some concrete that is away from the sun all day that is a great place to lie down.
And don't forget to drink plenty of water!

Yes right now it is 41C where I live and there isn't any cool change in sight unfortunately!!! I love to have a spray bottle with water and Lavender Oil in it to keep me cool through the day and night. Also drinking plenty of water to keep me hydrated. :D

I know the feeling. As one who can't tolerate heat very well I suffer very badly. If I am not in an airconditioned environment whose temperature I can control, I adopt some tricks my grandmother used. I have definitely taken after her as she suffered in the heat and perspired a great deal like me.
First, put your foot in a cool tub of water (it is true that if your feet are cool it helps the rest of the body). Second, place a soft cotton towel around your neck and shoulders so that you don't feel the perspiration running down your neck. Third, place a cold facecloth on your forehead and keep sipping water with lemon. Preferably sit near a fan. These tips were used when I was studying without any air conditioning.
I also keep some body lotion and a face spritz in the fridge and regularly spritz my face or even stand in front of the fridge to cool down!

Its a common occurrence where I live. In summer temps in the high 30's low 40s are quite common. I pull out my foot spa and drop a couple of ice cubes in the water, keep my face spritz's in the fridge and the most common thing I do is complain. I just hate the heat with a passion.

Perth is unbearably hot a lot of the time. Thankfully it's not so bad today. The only way I find I can cool down is by having a dip in the sea.

I remember a day about 5 years back when it was 45 up north - the paint on the deck melted and the plants shrivelled up and turned black despite all my efforts. The air con couldn't cope so the best thing to do was sit still and drink lots of cool (non-alcoholic) fluid. Right now I'm sitting at my desk with the fan on full blast, with a rolled up face cloth with ice cubes inside it around my neck. I'm a heat lover normally, but a couple of notches down would be a tad more comfortable :-) We're lucky though us humans, we can strip down or have a cooling shower - how I wish my pussy cats liked being squirted with water, or that I could unzip their fur coats, they must be so hot...

I have been in that situation! Just lying down unable to move. I prefer lying on concrete- a little cooler.

We also got to 41 here. My best heat survival tip is to get to the beach, any beach!

It was boiling today! I find that a cold glass of milk definitely cools me down.

I hate when you have that horrible heat with the humidity. You just can't breathe and don't want to do anything but lie in a pool. I don't have a pool so I just lie down on our tiles, they are amazingly coolish in the hot weather, only a bit hard on the head, so pillow needed lol

If you're at home, I strongly recommend filling a bucket with cold water and ice and putting your feet in it.

It was so hot today and I too sweated from places I didn't know could!
@jatz - I completely agree with you on the heat with humidity. Not only is it uncomfortable but it makes me feel dizzy which sometimes leads to a headache.
I usually don't turn on the air con unless it's extremely unbearable. Have to save energy right? I do have to use fans. My surviving tips from the heat would be to stay indoors, wear white, drink plenty of water and keep the skin hydrated. When there's a heat wave, I close the windows and blinds to block out the heat as much as possible and only open them again when it cools down outside. If your bedroom gets heated like mine, make sure to place all your beauty products in darker and cooler corners of the house. I do find the tiles on the ground floor to be heaps cooler (simple theory of hot air rises) and that's where me and my cat spent the whole day. :)

It was so hot today in Melbourne (40 degrees) that I resorted to hiding in Coles on my lunchbreak and cooling off in the freezer section lol! I love cool showers on hot Summer nights and relaxing at the beach until late

Putting the mist in the fridge is a good idea! Today was boiling and so was yesterday. I had to run around on my feet all day working and sweating - I felt so yuk.

Ugh. These days, it's just so HOT HOT HOT. At school, i have to cross campuses to go to different classes while dragging the big rock they call a 'bag'. *dies*
Just in case anyones interested, a handy fan really helps just when you start sweating or you're somewhere crowded (e.g assembly, bus stations)
It's also a good idea to keep a refreshing bottle of cold water on hand. Otherwise, just go to a shopping centre and chill at borders or something while reading a book and sipping a nice cool drionk from gloria jeans. :) I think i just told you my daily afterschool routine.
