Bathtime bliss

We all know there’s nothing more relaxing for a tired body than a bath, but did you know it has other health benefits too?
I’m not just talking about that amazing feeling when you first sink those aching legs into the warm bubbles – oh no, there’s so much more to benefit from than the bubbles…
A certain forum thread by new member heartchichi took my attention yesterday. She was asking members for tips on how to have a relaxing, yet health-beneficial bath.
I thought this was very interesting as normally it’s all about the relaxing element – but it turns out there are actually a few specific products and methods that can help you get the most out of tub time.
Epsom salts. beautyheaven member Juliet31 claims that she rids herself of body pimples and battles cellulite just by adding these into her baths. You can get these from your local supermarket or in these ultra-calming products: Crabtree & Evelyn India Hicks Island Living Spider Lily Bath Salts and Synthesis 345 Rose Bliss Bath Salts.
Pop a mud mask on. These will be your best friend when it comes to tub time. Not only are they soothing on your skin and packed full of minerals, they also work to cleanse your face on a much deeper level. We love: AHAVA Source Face Care Normal Dry - Purifying Mud Mask and AHAVA Source Face Care Oily - Purifying Mud Mask for Oily and Combination Skin
Add a bath caddy and pillow. These can be purchased from places like Big-W or K-Mart for pocket change. Watch as your books are protected from getting wet due to the caddy, and your neck is free from strain all because of the handy dandy bath pillow.
Bring music. This is an awesome way to chill out and gather your thoughts – of course you can even rock out to some Lady Gaga if you so wish! Otherwise, keep it calming. Meditation music is an excellent way to feel more centred and really relaxed.

What do you enjoy most about the bath?
How do you relax when in the tub?

Once a week I fill the tub with bearable hot water and epsom salts. Magnesium is the best for after my workout muscle warm down and to get rid of toxins. And every Sunday I make it my relaxing day with scented candles, bubble bath and I pop on a hydrating mask. Apart from the incredible feeling of feeling light in the water, I love the peace and no noise, it's my getaway from the kids when I need to calm down, have me time!

I've never really enjoyed baths. I think it's because I grew up in a drought dominated region, so baths were always very shallow and you'd have the mothership banging on the door constantly yelling "Don't stay in there all day! Others need to have a bath too you know". Sincle then I've always ust felt guitly pouring myself a bath. Plus I'm so short I can't really lay in them comfortable (i.e. without drowning). Sigh...
I'll just leave you beauties to enjoy baths for me :)

'Space' is what I enjoy most about the bath. Time all to myself. I relax in the bathtub by locking the doors!
I like doing the whole shebang - you know, candles, fancy bath salts/bath gel and a face mask.

I don't have a bath tub in our house, and the whole family has commented on how much they miss it. What I love about baths the most, would be just having some time out for me, and I love how soft my skin feels when I'm towelling myself off.

I hate having baths! I prefer showers because i like to wash the dirt off me, not soak in it.

i have recently started having my weekly epsom salt baths, its apparently ment to rid you of toxins , this can also help to loose weight (obvously in combination with exercise and a good diet) but i dont agree with the getting rid of body pimples as i find it actualy give me pimples, im sure if i continue long enough it should settle down though!

A couple of cups of Epsom salts & and a pot of green tea (strained) added to a bath is a great way of getting rid of water retention and cellulite.
I like to make a cup of tea, put on a record, get in the bath & then do... nothing ahh :)
