13-14yr old models

It was on the news not long ago, about a young model Monika Jagaciak who was banned from walking at fashion week, and who Vogue Australia refused to shoot after finding out her young age. What does everyone think about girls of this age, being in this industry?
I personally think she is too young, models are supposed to sell the clothes and look sexy, which I don’t think is right to ask a 13-14yr old girl to do. I think it would be alright for her to build up confidence and experience with teen magazines like Dolly and Girlfriend, but she’s been doing the high fashion covers, shoots and catwalks which put alot more emphasis on the skinny models and sex appeal – that industry is an adult industry, riddled with drugs and eating disorders.

Check out this link for more photos – I’m not denying she is a pretty young thing however.

They only get to be children for like 16years max… you have the rest of your life to be an adult… its really their loss!

But god sometimes when i go to the shopping mall i see all these little girls that are like 12, 13 and they are dressed like complete tarts, handbags, short skirts and all the rest. Im like horrified, im 20 years old and i think its disgusting, shame on their parents!

I know Selina! I feel so bad for those young girls, they`re faces and bodies have been splashed all over the news it`s horrible. And to think that “”art”” would have been available for people to buy.. imagine.. the sickos would have a field day!!

And today on the news was the story about the art exhibition with the naked 12year olds. Seriously what is the world coming too! Let kids be kids PLEASE!

Kids should be kids and no more than that. There was a lot of outrage recently on some photos that Miley Cyrus posed for recently. She is only a young teen and was posing in some topless shoots.

I cant imaging anything more upsetting than seeing my son (13) portrayed as a sex figure. as a mum my instinct is to protect him from that, keep him innocent as long as possible. What are these parents doing parading their children like this. I also dont think a 13 year old is ready to make life decisions (of their own). Leave the poor kids alone!

its like bad to be a model at 13/14 coz the body hasnt fully developed.. they cant keep their 13/14 bodyweight FOREVER, so if puberty makes them gain weight, it means they can lose their career. there`ll be like heaps of pressure for them to stay as thin as a 13/14 year old

I agree with you mary, children want to grow up and adults spend money trying to look younger. I share the same view with many forum members in that childrens wear should be modelled by children. She looks sexy in her photos and that is just wrong.

I totally agree with you Elmo. Being a mother of a 13 and 15 year old daughters, I see the way some of their peers dress and I am horrified. I am greatfull that my daughters are mature enough to realise that there are certain ways to dress for all occassions and I can honestly say they have good taste in clothing. I am happy that they are not sucked in by all the hype. Why can`t children this age act like children their age???? Why is it necessary to grow up so fast????
