Best buys for your bloke (so that he won’t steal yours)

So a few years back, my boyfriend at the time was staying over at my house one night.

After his shower, he came out of the bathroom and told me very matter-of-factly that he’d finished my body moisturiser and that I’d ‘best get some more’.

Knowing I had an almost-full bottle of AHAVA Mineral Body Lotion, and not believing he could have used it up all in one go, I was immediately suspicious.

Marching him back into the bathroom to show me this supposedly ‘empty’ bottle of lotion, I was horror struck when he pointed to my much-loved Chanel cream cleanser.

Yep, it turns out the man was in need of some moisturising and, instead of actually looking for the appropriate product, had just grabbed the nearest product he could find and slathered it all over his body.

What’s worse, he later confessed he’d been doing it for weeks! (Can you understand now why he’s my ex-boyfriend?)

So beauties, to ensure your coveted cosmetics don’t suffer the same fate as mine (that is, being wasted on a boy), get your man a stash of his own stuff. Here are a few of my suggestions:

NIVEA FOR MEN Exfoliating Face Scrub is the perfect product to keep his skin soft and smooth (in the most masculine way possible!). He’ll love the feel of the scrub particles as they clear away dirt, dry skin, and impurities in his pores.

L’Occitane en Provence Cade Shaving Cream and After Shave Balm are must-haves for any man. It utilises the antiseptic and strengthening properties of cade (also known as wild juniper), to soothe his skin and protect his face from the elements.

Sebastian Professional Craft Clay will keep your man’s mop in check. The ultra-blokey packaging will also stop him in his tracks before he reaches for your favourite styling product.

Have your coveted cosmetics ever wrongly fallen into the hands of your man?

Nope, thank goodness. They are kept under lock and key away from my sisters, though. : )

The only time my boyfriend uses my stuff is when his body wash or shampoo has run out. He wouldn't touch anything else with a 10-foot pole as he is a product-o-phobe!

Haha I don't have this problem - I still live at home and all my family know not to use my products...
Oh Deb how terrible! :(

Ouch, shame about the Chanel cleanser! Bodywash, shampoo maybe otherwise I'm pretty safe! more my friends or sisters I think I'd need to watch out for. Am happy that I'm slowly converting a few guys to use sunscreen and moisturizer but :) and finding them to slowly explore the products out there.

You poor thing! It used to happen to me too when my siblings use my products without asking me. And it would end up in me being Grumpy Gus and scolding them has happened often enough times for them to ask me before using anything.

My bf always always always uses my moisturiser on himself. Also, I put my eye serum on him,but no more ever since I bought him his own. But moisturiser wise,he's currently using the lotion sample bottles when I put them somewhere as decorations.

I don't really have to worry about my man using my products, if he did use them, I'd probably smell him out before too long.

Lol this article is funny! My boyfriend regularly uses my body moisturisers, but that's about it. He buys his own cleansers!

Hubby regularly uses my Avon Anew eye cream and also my Neutrogena Deep Clean which I don't mind. He also uses the range of Nivea products for men which are actually really great - they smell good, are good value for money. I road-tested some for him (once a product junkie, always a product junkie) and the only thing I didn't like was the mild masculine smell - but then, its not made for ME sooo....... The protective moisturiser in the range is also good for guys.
