Dermalogica - Active Moist
- Overall rating:
For normal to oily skin conditions.
A lightweight, oil-free lotion that actively combats surface dehydration while smoothing the skin’s surface with botanical extracts. It provides effective skin hydration, without oils and smoothes skin, improving the texture. It absorbs quickly, leaving no greasy after-feel. Silk amino acids help smooth and improve skin texture while natural botanical astringents lemon, ivy, watercress and burdock help to refine the skin. Soothing extracts of lavender, mallow and cucumber help provide deep hydration.

My favourite moisturiser
I have been using Active Moist for many years now. In that time I have tried other moisturisers but none of them have even come close to doing as good a job. I love the lightweight feel , it glides on and leaves my skin feeling silky smooth. There is no oily residue after applying it, and no tightness either. It has a mild, natural scent which is refreshing and no irritants.

I found out about this moisturiser due to all the hype about it being fantastic for oily skin. I am so glad I caved and got this. I've been using it as my day moisturiser (with a separate spf) and occasionally at night.
The texture of this lotion is light yet it is still very hydrating. You don't need to use very much at all. So although the 50ml size seems expensive, it will last. My skin can also be quite sensitive and acne prone and this has not flared up my skin in any way, which is very pleasing. :) It sinks in quickly after applying. I like that this isn't 'mattifying', it will not disturb what you put on top of it such as your foundation.
This moisturiser also isn't scented with anything so it will be fine for those who are sensitive to fragranced products.

I brought the whole sensitive range; the cleanser was nice, the toner, the serum and mask but when it came to this, it was the moist disappointing one of all. A good skincare regime requires a good moisturiser to replenish the moisture loss, lock in the goodness and if it does, provide added bonuses.
For me, this was not hydrating AT ALL! Even after adding a skin rebooster underneath my skin still felt tight. It felt like I was wearing a makeup primer rather than skincare.

Amazing hydration with no greasiness!!
I am in love with this moisturiser! It has a lovely lightweight texture so once you apply it it's absorbed really quickly and leaves no residue or heaviness. The smell is incredible, however this is not because of artificial perfumes and chemicals it is just the active ingredients and essential oils used in this beautiful cream.
Since I started using Active Moist I have noticed a dramatic decrease in the amount of breakouts I get but not only that I also have way less dehydration lines! Bonus!!

Oil-Free Moisturiser - I Love It At Night!
I loved using this at night time - I received a trial sized tube through a beauty box and I want to buy the full size of this as I found it perfect for my oily-combination ageing skin for night time use as it didn't clog my pores or create any pimples! It gave my skin complete & comfy hydration. This keeps my skin perfect balance! It feels light on my skin.

Weightless hydration for combination skin
This weightless, oil free lotion is perfect for delivering light hydration to combination/oily skin. Carries a delicate, pleasing lemony fragrance. Utilising soothing, botanical extracts, including Lemon, cucumber and Ivy which carry styptic properties; skin is left feeling soft, smooth and dewy. Leaves a comfortable matte finish, ideal for those torrid Queensland summer's. Effectively controls breakouts.

Update on my intial review
After continued use over 6 months this product actually left my skin feeling irritated and dry. I loved it at first but now having switched to something else my skin has gone back to normal so I definitely know that something in this didn't agree with my skin. It's very lightweight which was great for my oily skin but I found that because my skin was irritated it dried out so this wasn't actually hydrating my skin. RESPONSE FROM DERMALOGICA: Active Moist is a light weight moisturiser and perfect for oily skin. When the skin is experiencing excessive dehydration it may not be rich enough so applying a concentrated serum like Skin Hydrating Booster underneath may help saturate the skin with moisture. When the skin is extremely dehydrated it can increase sensitivity and can become irritated. Dehydration can occur as a result of changes in environmental and lifestyle conditions. For example; some skins might suit using Active Moist during the Summer months but may need to change to Skin Smoothing Cream during the Winter months.

Highly recommend. No weird scent or colour. Really works to help moisturize your skin and doesn't leave skin feeling tight or irritated.
