How much moisturiser should you use?

Not sure how much face cream you should be applying at each use? If you’ve splurged on a luxe serum or face cream you’ll no doubt want your product to last as long as possible – so waste not, want not!
According to the skin care experts at La Mer, when it comes to applying face creams and face serums, you only need a pea-sized amount. La Mer also recommends warming the product between your fingertips first, as this helps to activate and release the ingredients in the product. You should then gently pat (not rub) the product into your skin.
Try it with: La Mer Crème de la Mer
How much moisturiser and/serum do you generally use?
How long does it usually take before your product runs out?

With pump moisturisers like Clinique, it's usually enough with one pump and I'll easily use that up. With tubes, I try to estimate the same amount as a pump, so just a little less than pea size is usually adequate for me. Depending on the size I buy, moisturiser usually lasts me a good 3 - 4 months! Which is great!

Wow, then I use quite a lot of moisturiser on my face; i dont use serums as I am still quite young. It usually takes 1-2 months for my bottle to run out which is not soo good. Im goin to start usin moisturisers in a small amount, not much and not too little, just right :) thanks

I only ever use a pea sized amount and always pat my products in as I've been told that if you rub it in you stimulate the oil glands (and who wants more oil on their face..). My creams last soo long I've lost track of when I actually got them, well over 9 months anyway.

I've never had a 50ml tub of night cream last longer than a month. I guess I'm using too much....

I have to agree with this. I have a Philosophy moisturiser that I'm using at the moment and I only need the smallest amount to moisturise my whole face. I'd like to know though if the same would apply to SPF moisturiser?

Always a pea sized amount of cream morning and night and with my serum two pumps is enough. I have always warmed all products in my palms then patted the product into my skin as that is the method I was taught when I began work as a Clarins consultant 16 years ago and still do to this day. I do get some customers who go through creams so quickly and I ntoice how soon they are back for more so I explain how important that a little goes a long way! I love helping people get the best out of their products. I apply a teaspoon of spf to my face and a tablespoon per limb for optimum protection - I learnt that from a nurse who teaches about sun protection. And my creams last me between 3 and 6 months.

I generally start off with a small amount (a small pea sized or a few droplets of serum) but as the months go by I tend to use more to use it up quickly as I start to get bored of the product. I'm really generous with my Vaseline body lotion and like to lather it on after a shower. It's so cheap anyways.

I always use more than a pea sized amount, but I do have dry skin. I use about 3x a pea size amount for my whole face.

I've taken particular notice of how much I've been using since reading the article and I've been pleasantly surprised (could read amazed!) to see that I've been using the right amount!

I have always rubbed it in so I guess naughty me!
As to the amount I use, it depends on the product but generally it is either one pump to a pump and a half or two pea sized amounts, but then again I do sometimes get dry skin (which can be super oily on other days) so the amount I use varies.

Ooh la! Great advice! I find putting too much on makes my skins yuck any way! But I will try the patting from now on :) I would have though circular motions would be better?

Well when I'm applying my mosituriser, I get the back of my palm and I add two pumps for my face, 1 pump for my neck, another 1 pump for my ears (Yes, ladies my ears) and another little pump for my eye region. Okay, yeah, that sounds like alot but trust me, I've being doing this since I first bought my moisturiser and its a quater full after 3 months, YAY :D

I have learnt not to overdo the beauty creams. If you put too much cream on sometimes your skin reacts negatively by breaking out in rashes or pimples. Always use recommended dosage as states on packaging. It depends how big my tubs, pots or tubes are as too how long my products last.

I dont use much as all as I have a combination skin - in winter though if my skin gets a bit dry, I tend to use a bit more. Otherwise I probably tend to use a bit more than I need to if im trying to finish off a product, i dont really like, being keen to start the new one already lined up in the cupboard...

I really use very little so my moisturisers last a hell of a long time! Next time I moisturise I'm definitely going to remember to pat it in not rub.
