7 beauty hacks you need to survive summer

Warm weather, sunshine and long days at the beach are without a doubt good for the soul, but the imminent inferno is bound to create some serious summer beauty issues for your hair, skin and body. We’ve put together seven hot weather beauty tips and hacks every woman needs to know, to ensure you avoid becoming an overheated, frizzy and sweaty mess.

#1 Baby powder

Sick of getting sand stuck everywhere after a day at the beach? Keep a tub of GAIA Natural Baby Natural Baby Powder in your bag. When you’re finished for the day, sprinkle it onto your hands, feet and legs (and anywhere else sand likes to hide) to absorb any excess moisture from sweat and salt water. The baby powder makes the sand super easy to wipe off, so you don’t ruin your shoes/car/house/life.

#2 Deodorant

As the weather gets warmer, our body temperature follows suit (cue excessive sweating). It’s a hundred times worse when you have to style your hair with heated tools fresh out of the shower. To avoid any uncomfortable sweat patches, dab a little bit of deodorant on the nape of your neck and down the front of your chest. This will curb any excess sweat, and keep you feeling fresher for longer.

bh tip: A natural deodorant – like Lush Aromaco Deodorant – will protect your body without irritating your skin.

#3 Coconut oil

Dry skin? Frizzy hair? Bitten by mosquitos? Coconut oil is your be-all and end-all solution to all three, but the benefits don’t stop there. You need a big jar of the stuff in your life this summer, and here’s why.

#4 Chilled tea bags

Keep a few tea bags in your fridge for any beauty emergencies. They’re great for treating swollen eyes, dark circles, pimples, sunburn (particularly on your face) and even heat rash. Choose green or chamomile for best results.

#5 Blotting papers

Blotting papers are an absolute spring and summer essential! Keep a pack by your desk, in your car, and one in your handbag so you’re well equipped for any sticky, sweaty situations. We like ModelCo Blotting Paper and NYX Cosmetics Blotting Paper.

#6 Cold sore prevention

Sun exposure can often lead to cold sores. To prevent the dreaded blister from appearing in the first place, wear a hat, apply sunscreen to your face every day, keep your immune system in check, and change your toothbrush after any outbreaks.

#7 Nail polish

As the temperature rises, it’s best to take your nail polish out of the cupboard and pop it in the fridge instead. The heat can react with the ingredients in the formula, making it thicker, harder to apply, and often gives the end result unsightly bubbles.

What do you think of the hot weather? Do you have any other hacks to survive an Australian summer?
