Faking a full night's sleep

Well, they do say that hindsight is perfect 20/20. If I'd have known that Bh's Christmas lunch would morph into an evening and then a night of very merrymaking, I'd have put my made-for-such-occasions gel eye mask in the fridge.
But what's the silly season without a surprise celebration? Luckily, I have a strategy up my sleeve for when it's an even bigger occasion than anticipated…
I say how you look first thing the morning after depends much on your last moves the night before. Obviously, sinking as much water as poss before hitting the pillow is top priority and removing make-up before slathering on moisturiser is a must, but spending the night under a gel sleeping mask is my secret weapon. Chilling it provides maximum puff-defusing power, though it requires prior planning, but even
worn at room temp over a cooling eye gel like Mary Kay's Indulge Soothing Eye Gel ($30) I find mine indispensable.
Then, when the alarm goes off, I kickstart my skin with a scrub. It's not just about exfoliation; the massage gets my circulation going until I'm glowing much brighter than I deserve to.
Next on the cheat sheet: neutralise and disguise my eyes. One lesson I've recently learnt is that puffs and shadows are different problems that require different action plans. If I awake wearing fluid-filled bags of Balenciaga proportions, more moisture isn't necessarily the best policy, so I use MD Formulations Brighten & Tighten Eye Serum ($80) instead. This 6am saviour features micro-circulators that deal with water retention and make my fragile eye area look firmer in instants.
Bluish circles need to be neutralised. After ironing out dehydration lines with a little moisture, I rely on Maybelline New York Coverstick Corrector ($12.25) in yellow. But the most crucial step is to disguise this counteractive colour with a flesh-toned, light-reflector like ELES Mineral Makeup Mineral Illuminator ($63). Otherwise I'm not fooling anyone that I slept like an angel; I'm all but advertising that I've got something to hide.
And faking it's all about clever concealment – with eye drops, white liner and the willpower to stick it out the office all day. Wish me luck…
What's your best strategy for faking a full night's sleep?

Blush! I look dreadfully pale the day after a big party, so I'd say a rosy blush on the apples of my cheeks is my strategy. It helps me look healthier than I feel...

I don't get much sleep with a 10 month old, so I need all the help I can get...all the beauty products to boost my skins performance. And if I do go out its takes me a full week to recover, masks, makeup free days and exfoliation, drinking plenty of water to flush out all the impurities of partying, to get my skin back on par.

Tracey I'm surprised you were even able to write an update after a night like that! hehe.
I swear by lots of water, YSL Touche Eclat, a bronzer....and sunglasses. lol
I do like the sound of the MD Brighten and Tighten Eye Serum, not that I'd need it as my partying days are a distant memory, though could come in handy when the kids decide 4 am is a great time to wake up.

Well, my late night recovery helpers are Guerlain Midnight Secret and Mirenesse Night Serum Extreme (not applied together though, one or the other), oh and of course gallons of water. Start the day off with a glass of water with a squeeze of lemon and a couple of drops of liquid Stevia. Stevia, apart from being a natural sweetener with negligible kilojoules is claimed to be a pancreas tonic, which as we all know needs a little help after a beverage or two...

Bronzer always gives me back some colour. I tend to go white when I am tired or feeling unwell. I will need to invest in something for my eyes unfortunately I don't think anything will help how tired I always feel!

I keep my gel mask in the fridge as well as my eye creams. Very nice when you don't get fabulous sleep. Brighten and Tighten sounds good too! I'm getting a white liner to try for myself... what I've read sounds great about them.

I wear a special eye mask when I go to sleep late. It makes my eyes look more awake and bright after a late night.

I have not slept all night since I was in my second trimester carrying my now 8 month old baby. My eyes are always feeling sore so my eye drops get regular abuse. The Mary Kay's Indulge Soothing Eye Gel sounds a treat.

I have the dark shadows to deal with after a big day out, so I swear by a firming eye gel and concealer combo! Oh, and loads of water

with a young baby I need to fake a good nights sleep because an 8 hour sleep doesn't exsist for me these days. I have one of those eye masks which you can either heat or cool. they are great at soothing eye bags.

Great idea to start the morning with a facial scrub, I usually do that at night, but it makes sense that a morning scrub would "wake up" the skin.

I do love those gel night masks, they feel really nice! I usually start with a morning facial scrub, that sadly only works for a few hours. The best thing to do for a good night's sleep is a healthy diet... And drink 8 glasses of water a day! :)

i work early in the morning and have trouble getting to sleep early so i get limited amount of sleep i find using moisteriser under my eyes before i go to sleep helps reduce bags and drinking plenty of water. or a highly scented fsacial scrub in the morning helps me wake up!

Fantastic tips! Lots of water and apply the Clinique 15min turn around facial - leave it on over night! Wash it off on waking and you get bright shiny skin!
