Tips and tricks: avoid the panda persona

Have you ever woken up in the morning, only to be faced with two rather tell-tale black rings around your eyes? (It’s not a great look is it?) And you think this is very strange, as you cleansed and toned the night before, so how did these black mascara flakes come to be resting around your eyes?
It’s simple. Proper make-up removal comes with a few tips and tricks that will help to ensure that all traces of the black stuff are thoroughly removed, and you wake up to gorgeous, unmarked, bright eyes in the morning!
Here they are:
- Always begin with a cleansing wipe or cotton pad doused in cleanser (we like: NIVEA Visage Gentle Facial Cleansing Wipes for its purifying and toning abilities), and sweep all over your face to remove the first layer of make-up.
- Next, soak a cotton pad in a gentle eye-makeup remover (try: NIVEA Visage Gentle Eye Make-Up Remover Lotion), and press it over your peepers for 10 seconds to help remove excess stubborn mascara.
- Finally, go back over your face and eyes with a wash cleanser to remove all remaining traces of product, tone your skin, and leave it feeling refreshed in one fell swoop. Try: NIVEA Visage Gentle Cleansing Créme Wash.
Following these steps will ensure that your eyes are always sans the just-fell-into-bed-without-washing-my-face look in the morning, and your skin can benefit from a night of make-up-free rejuvenation.

What are your tips for ensuring there are no 'panda eyes' in sight in the morning?

That is simple, a little jojoba oil on a cotton ball for a pre cleanse, ensures even my most stubborn makeup completely dissolves, oil really breaks down all makeup and it is the most effective routine I have found to date, not to mention the jojoba oil is good for my skin too :)

Olive oil really helps with waterproof mascara and general stubborn make up. Although I haven't been having any problems with my make up remover lately, it's great!!

I already have dark circles under the eyes and after using mascara, I always have problems removing them well. I prefer Mirenesse's Secret Weapon mascara as it simply washes off with water in the shower.

I find that some mascara's just don't leave as bad panda eyes than others. For not leaving panda eyes at all Mirenesse is a winner for me. It never leaves panda eyes no matter what.

Love your tip Mel!!
I use Johnson and Johnson eye makeup remover wipes and then remove any excess with Dermalogica's gentle eye makeup remover.
I mainly use mirenesse mascara though and the beauty in that is that it eliminates the need for makeup remover

I use Lush Babyface, it's like a two in one because it takes off every trace of makeup and leaves my face all smooth and pretty :)

I love to use a Q-Tip or Cotton Bud dipped in my eye makeup remover to go around the eye before I cleanse, and voila no PANDA eyes for me. :)

I also dye my lashes - I think it's called Lash 2000, or something like that. Using this, along with a lash curler means I don't have to use too much mascara.

I just wash my face thoroughly before I go to bed. Sometimes I have a little residue, but I wash my face in the mornings as well and that will get it off.

Love the pic! I want lashes like that. I use Mirenesse mascara and generally that doesn't give me panda eyes if I happen to sleep in it, maybe a few flakes but that is all. For the removal of shadow and liner I can't go past Napoleon Duet Makeup Remover and Jurlique Soothing Cleansing Lotion. I am curious about the Olive Oil though. Might have to give that a go...

So true about mascara. I just thought it was me being neglectful when removing my makeup around the eyes! I dont tend to scrub me eyes - they hurt.
