Step 2 of Clinique's 3-Step Skin Care System is to exfoliate the skin with Clinique Clarifying Lotion. Exfoliation is the engine of skin renewal. This dermatologist-developed Clarifying Lotion gently sweeps away dulling surface flakes to reveal clearer, smoother skin that is perfectly prepped for moisture. Skin appears smoother, softer, with more light-reflecting qualities. Make-up goes on more smoothly and stays on for longer. Provides a cool, refreshing feeling. Gentle toner for the mildly sensitive

Gorgeous toner if you are a little oily (not too much), but find that the majority of toners leave your skin a little too dry. I tend to alternate between this toner and the moisturising version of No 1 (also Clinique), using this when my skin has broken out or become a little oiler than usual. If my skin is dry, then this toner can be a little harsh, but between the two products, both oily and dry for sensitive skin is covered!

Drying and smells like alcohol

I was very excited to try this after a skin consultation at Myer and all the hype surrounding Clinique. I was very disappointed as soon as I dispensed the product. It smelt like it contained alcohol, smelling exactly like many cheap toners. Regardless I tried it for a while because it was recommended for my dry sensitive skin.
For the first few uses it seemed great, it didn't irritate my skin. However, after a while I noticed it drying out my skin. I felt it stripping my skin of it's natural oils. This definitely isn't suited to my skin

bright fresh skin

i have had this in 1,2 lotion and i have tried both but i prefer the nummber 1 as i find it more gentle on my skin as i have dry/sensitive but also combo on my t-zone iam now using the 1 lotion with great sucsess its so refreshing it brightens and gets rid of dirt/debris and revels much more luminoss skin you can definatlly tell when you stop using this prouduct.

Good for problem skin

I trialled Clarifying Lotion 2 before being put onto Clarifying Lotion 1, and wow, what a difference! Clarifying Lotion 2 has alcohol in it (and a lot of it), and I found with my combination/problem skin, that it was very sensitive to it and dried out very quickly. Thankfully the Clinique girls set me straight with this product, and it is much better suited to my needs! I find this alcohol-free version to be a much gentler, more effective product

Great

I use this along with the rest of my 3 step system.

I find it gentle on my skin and does not irritate my skin. I like how fresh it makes my skin feel and how clean it feels afterwards. You only need a small amount on a cottonball to do your whole face. It doesn't dry out my skin at all.

Just make sure you are using the right number for your skin otherwise it is great.

Love it but make sure you get the right level!

I originally purchased the 2 but found that much to harsh on my skin I moved onto a level 1 and everything sorted out. This product really made a difference to my skin.

Does not live up to the hype

I understand that many of their experts, as well as Beauty Heaven has recommended this product to me but this product was the cause of my 6 month rash on my face.

I have never, ever experienced such a major reaction to anything ever before so this was horrible.

My face was bumpy, lumpy, bright red and prone to extreme dryness and note I have combination skin.

Do yourself a favour, do not waste your money on this.

Isn't drying

I really like this product, it doesn't dry out my skin, which I thought it would do before I started using it. It helps keep my skin toned and I always notice when I don't use it for a few days my skin is sort of rough, and not as smooth.
Having said this though, I don't think it is essential to have and I think it would be fine just to use cleanser and moisturiser and exfoliate a few times a week instead.

Nice Toner

I have been using this toner once daily after cleansing my face with the Clinique 123 step programme, iam liking it as it has not left my skin tight like some of the other toners which i have tried, in fact my face feels softer, the only thing i did not like
is the smell of this toner. I have had no redness appear which is a plus for me. I only used a small amount and would use this product again.
