Difficult to use

I went out and bought this product after trialling the Baby Quasar for a month and getting great results. I bought the Skin Physics laser instead because it was cheaper and readily available in Australia and also because I'd heard that other "heads" for the device would come out later to combat other skin concerns such as acne, rosacea, etc. But as with others on this site, I found it very difficult to work out how to use. I read the instructions and watched the DVD and I still wasn't clear. Ordinarily I'd be happy to fool around with it until I worked it out but lasers make me a bit nervous and it was a big enough step buying one to use on my face in the first place. So I went online and read some great users reviews like the ones above and they helped me figure it out.

But once I'd figured this out I found it harder to use than the Baby Quasar, which is pretty straight forward. I also found that the serum that came with it wasn't oily enough so I had to use a lot of it get the device to move smoothly across my face. When I tried a more oily product I found it would move around to much and slip everywhere. I think it's because of the plastic cap on the device. Whereas on the Baby Quasar there's no cap so its easier to move the device over your face.

So after giving this a go a few times I've decided that it's just too hard to use and I've bitten the bullet and ordered the Baby Quasar Red, which I know works well for me. It's also more reasonably priced now that the Aussie dollar has reached parity with the green-back!

Skin Physics Led Photon Starter Kit

The day I received the skin physics box I felt like the beautiful packaging of skin physics was like pass the parcel and the parcel so stopped with me! They truly go all out there. The skin physics red dynamo box comes with goodies galore. Complete with a cellugen cleanse, cellugen activating serum, cellugen night cream which are all in 30 ml, a photon docking station complete with a instructional booklet and DVD, power supply with international global adaptors, protective goggles and a travel bag. As you can see the box comes with so many products I will try to break it down as best as I can without it being a novel for you to read. Which is turning out to be a hard task.

I read the manual many times and the same with watching the DVD which is helpful in learning how to incorporate all the products to work successfully for you and what results to expect from using the products. So it won’t be long before your yielding your photon like a pro. I did find the DVD and manual to contradict themselves in some areas which I informed skin physics of. It is probably why I reread the manual and watched the DVD so many times. So I used both as a guide and improvised when this happened.

I applied the cleanser first with just a small amount over my face and neck. It not only left my face so soft but also the undesirable need to want someone to touch my face so that they too could feel the revelation I did. The cleanse not only cleansed my face but it also gently exfoliated it too. I then followed it with the yellow serum over my face and neck and waited a few minutes for the products to absorb into my skin before I started the treatment process with the photon.

I used the photon on my face only though as instructed.
The photon is to be used in 2 modes. The first mode is the constant mode of 3 minutes where the countdown starts once the device connects to my skin where it turns red and moving in circular motions around my face it starts its treatment process where I feel a lovely warm sensation over my face. You then follow that with the pulse mode which is done in 4 minute intervals where I gently place the device on the problem area I want to target holding it in place for those 4 complete minutes. When the 4 minutes time is up I go onto the next area of my face again holding the device for 4 minutes repeating this cycle for every problem area I want to address. Depending on how many problem areas you have is the time it takes. But I sit down for this as this takes me about 40 minutes in total. Afterwards when my treatment process is over with the photon I then finish with applying liberally the gorgeous feeling thick yellow cellugen night cream to my face.

I only used the creams in conjunction with the photon and the days I didn’t use the photon I used my ‘usual’ creams as I believed they were a package deal and with the small size of the tubes the creams wouldn’t last very long if I used them on days when I didn‘t use the photon.

I will start off by addressing the con sides of the skin physics. I have to say I had a lot of trouble with my photon device. Skin physics kindly sent me out a replacement but I only started experiencing trouble with the new device within a few minutes of treatment again and continued to do so. The trouble I had with it was in the pulse mode with the photons and not the constant mode. It is suppose to work on counting down with contact with the skin but that rarely happened in pulse mode and I would have to play around with the buttons with each interval to get it to count down and working for my treatment session. Which I found to be annoying and disappointing. By the time I go to use the photon the second time the photon displayed that the battery was ¾ charged but that wasn’t the case when I went to use it during the second treatment session the photon battery went flat within 8 minutes in the constant mode despite it displaying it was charged. I found having to recharge it meant I didn’t get to finish that session which was frustrating. So to avoid this happening again as I couldn’t rely on the photon display being accurate I charged the device after each use.

I also had to stop using the protective goggles by the third time of use of the photon as they were painful and dug into my eyes and afterwards would leave my eyes all red and sore. The straps were also painful and in the way of targeting my eye area and then would have to move the straps so the photon could touch my skin. My only concern from ceasing the use of the goggles that even with my eyes closed when using the photon around my eye areas afterwards the colour in my eyesight would dull for half an hour afterwards. So I do hope there is no damage that can be done to the eyes and that in fact the goggles are just a precautionary measure as stated.

Now the results. I have only been using the skin physics for 2 weeks and used it every second day. I didn’t experience results that I can visually see in these 2 weeks. My skin didn’t worsen though either. Maybe results are something you see over more time. I found the photon device to be problematic with having to fiddle with it to get it working and going flat during a treatment to be unreliable. I also found the treatment sessions not very enjoyable or a relaxing experience. The only items I did enjoy was the cleanser and the moisturiser. I feel my results may have been more beneficial if I had a working photon.

Even though I am approaching 38 and the combination I believe of good genetics and good skincare I don’t have many wrinkles but I do want to prevent them and I also do have other skin care concerns. If I saw dramatic results to my skins texture, pore reduction, reduction in ageing spots or lessened the wrinkles I do have or firmed the skin in that time then I would make the effort of using the photon in my routine. But that also said I can’t see myself continuing to use the photon when it isn’t working correctly which is a shame as I looked forward to using skin physics. Other then the initial excitement of receiving the skin physics box I expected so much more from this product but again I have only been using it for 2 weeks and the contributing factor of not having a properly working photon device this product simply hasn’t delivered results for me.

Skin Physics Photon System

I was thrilled to be selected to trial the Skin Physics Photon LED Photo Rejuvenation System, and have been using it for the past 4 weeks.

What does the system do?
The Photon claims to attack the following signs of aging (all of which are familiar to me!):
• Minimise the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
• Reduce the appearance of crow’s feet and expression lines
• Diminish the appearance of sun-damage pigmentation
• Restore skin moisture and plumpness
• Provides a healthier skin tone
• Minimise the appearance of pore size
• Smooth the appearance of skin texture
• Reduce the appearance of skin degradation
• Reduce the appearance of overall redness and flushing

As a 40 year old who is showing her age, I would be happy with improvement in just one of these!

What does the system include?
The Photon arrived 4 weeks ago in quite an impressive red, shiny box. It contains the hand-held system, a recharger, goggles, an instruction booklet, a DVD and travel bag along with a cleanser, activator gel and night cream (each in 30ml tubes).

Using the system
Before using the system the first time it needs to be charged 8 hours. Now, the combination of being excited about using it and being an impatient person meant I couldn’t possibly wait that long, so cheated a little, using it after an hour.

Once the system is charged, it is time to prepare your skin. The first step is to wash your face using their cleanser. I quite liked this product, light, not too harsh, and pleasant to smell.

Once you have done this, apply the activator gel to your face. This has a rather unpleasant yellow colour, but goes on clear. Initially quite sticky, it dries fairly quickly. This is meant to help the photon glide over the skin smoothly, and help the system activate with your skin. I found that as soon as the gel had dried (which was only a matter of a minute or so), it did not help with it gliding. In fact, I felt it did the opposite.

So, with the skin prepped, it is time to use the photon. Make sure you’re seated comfortably, as this will take just over 30 minutes to complete. Pop on your goggles first - a number of people on the forum have found these uncomfortable, but they seem to fit me OK, perhaps just hold them to your eyes if you find them uncomfortable. Just a word of warning – your vision is shadowy rather than clear through the goggles, so you can’t watch TV that well and definitely couldn’t read while you are using the system I tend to only wear them when I am doing the areas surrounding my eyes.

The photon has 2 different modes, a 3 minute constant light activation mode and a 4 minute flashing light treatment mode. When doing your session, it’s best to think of your face as being divided into 6 pieces – halve it vertically, then divide into 3 horizontal sections. You use the 3 minute mode first. Using a circular motion, you apply it all over your face. The photon will beep after 30 seconds, and this means it’s time to move onto the next section of your face. Keep going until you have completed your whole face, which will take 3 minutes. It can be best to do it in front of the mirror the first few times so that can make sure you have covered your face properly.

With this completed, you move onto the activation mode. Switch the unit to the 4 minute flashing mode, and spend 4 minutes on each of the 6 sections of your face, this time you just hold it still in the one spot, and don’t make the circular movements. I was a little naughty, and have been guilty of also treating the areas that this technique seems to miss, so this part tends to take me longer than the 28 minutes it should.

Once you’re finished, it’s time for the retinol night cream. I quite like the cream – the texture has just enough substance for my mature skin without being too heavy. It also has a nice smell.

So what has been my experience?

The good:
• I find it quite relaxing to use the system (although some people may find it time consuming).
• It’s easy to use.
• I quite like the cleanser and night cream.
• I think it has had a slight firming effect on my skin. I’m not sure if this is particularly noticeable to others, or whether this has particularly shown up in my before and after photos.
• Some little pouchy areas under the corners of my mouth seem to have become ever so slightly less noticeable.

The bad
• The head of the photon has fallen off a number of times during use – this may be due to my technique? It is supposed to be removable so that it can ultimately be replaced, but shouldn’t come off during general use.
• The system does tend to heat up after about 15 minutes.
• The price – I’d probably want to hear more reviews from longer term users before paying $299.
• No dramatic results yet - I still look 40+!

The ugly
• I think that the broken capillaries around my nose have become worse, and I have been avoiding these areas when using the system.

The verdict
• At this stage, being fair with the 4 week timeframe, I think it is too soon to judge. As mentioned, nothing dramatic has happened, but the couple of slight changes, such as a slight firming has given me hope that there might be something to this. Certainly, I’m not convinced it is a miracle worker, but I will have my eye keenly on other reviews!

Light therapy for even skintone & skin healing

I’ve been using the Skin physics Photon therapy device for over 3 weeks now as part of the trial. For the first 2 weeks, I used it daily for 30 minutes each session and since the, every 2nd or 3rd day for the same duration.

I found the instructions (video and written) quite poor and confusing. It did not really indicate how long you should be using the device and when to use each mode.

Here is how I use the device after doing some online research on other photon therapy units.

Start off by sectioning the face into 6 zones – the left and right forehead, left and right cheeks and left and right bottom sides of face.

I start off stimulating the cells of my skin by using the constant mode to shine my whole face. As the constant mode is only a 3 minute section, with a 30 second timer beep to remind you to move to the next area. I do 2 cycles to go pass zone of my face twice for total of 6 minutes.

I then switch the device to a pulse mode and complete a full cycle (each cycle on pulse mode is 4 minutes) for each facial zone, ignoring the 30 second beeps and just concentrating on that single area for the whole cycle. All up it takes 30 minutes to complete a single session for me.

For an extra treatment on problem areas (eg. on pimple or bruise) – I would do an extra cycle on the area in constant mode.

I find the best time to do the treatment is while watching TV as your eyes are focusing on something else and not being too distracted by the red LED lights. I ditched the goggles it came with as I found it uncomfortable to use and did not find the light too blinding as long as I was not looking directly into it.

The trial size skincare products (a serum for use during the LED session, a night cream to use afterwards, and an exfoliating cleanser to use twice daily) that came with the kit are very nice to use. They are enriched with a lot of plant based ingredients and have a light botanical scent to them, which thankfully was not overpowering or unpleasant. The serum absorb really quickly on skin while the serum is quite rich and moisturizing. The cleanser was pleasant but nothing special to report about. The full size products are quite expensive so I’m unsure if I would repurchase them to use or just opt to use my own skincare products after finishing the trail products.

What it claims:
* Minimise the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
* Reduce the appearance of crow’s feet and expression lines
* Diminish the appearance of sun-damage pigmentation.
* Restore skin moisture and plumpness
* Provide a healthier skintone
* Minimise the appearance of pore size
* Smooth the appearance of skin texture
* Reduce the appearance of skin degradation
* Reduce the appearance of overall redness and flushing

Although I think it is still too early to tell and I did not experience all of the above claims, the results I’ve seen so far are promising.

My skin is definitely firmer, it has this elasticity that young skin has and I’m very pleased with this result. I am not sure whether it is due to the power of suggestions but I also feel that my smile lines and fine lines around the eyes are softened.

I found this photon device is great for speeding up the healing process of small blemishes – I had a few whiteheads on my cheek and after the LED session, it was gone the next day. It also sped up the healing process so I by the second day the red scar mark usually left after the blemish has healed was almost non-existent. I even used it on a bruise on my leg and it also helped to speed up its recovery.

Another change I noticed was that it seemed to help regulate oil production and my skin is less greasy and shiny during the day.

The only downside I’ve experienced so far is that it seems to dry up my skin considerably, causing a lot of dry flaky patches on my cheeks and sides of the nose. I’m not sure if this is to do with the light therapy speeding up the cell rejuvenation process so my cell turnover is quicker than normally would resulting in the need to exfoliate even more often than usual. This has caused my skin texture to suffer and I’m hoping that this is a short term effect that will disappear now that I’ve dropped the frequency of use to 2-3 times a week.

The light can be tricky for me to turn on when used on areas of contours as the light is sensor activated and needs to be placed directly on flat skin. I rather have a unit that is not sensor activated so can use it on the curves of my body (eg. on my leg when I had a bruise there). The unit can be a bit glitchy sometimes and be hard to turn on after several cycles of use, and I have to switch to a different mode before I can get the light to turn on again.

I’ve not notice any wrinkle reductions yet but feel that fine lines are slightly softened so will continue to monitor the results with long term use and follow up with another update after a much longer period of use.

Better than a clinic

I was lucky enough to be included in the BH trial for this product and have been using it for the last 3 weeks. I plan to continue to use it, as I believe it takes about six months to get really noticeable results, which I would really like to see.
When I opened the parcel I was surprised at how beautifully presented it was. The package contained the LED treatment device and charger plus a few adaptors which would be really handy if you were going overseas and using different power sources. It also contained a pair of goggles, activating serum, night cream and exfoliating cleanser which were also beautifully presented and its own convenient red travel bag and instruction manual and a DVD.
I couldn’t wait to get started but I found the instruction manual a little complicated and long so I opted to watch the DVD instead. I found it really easy to understand as I got to see how to use it not just read about it.
When I first started I felt really silly and locked myself in my room so my family wouldn’t laugh at me especially when I wore the goggles but that didn’t last long because I found that they were so tight they cut into my face so after the first couple of minutes I decided to take them off and I closed my eyes when I worked around the eye area. I found that to be much more comfortable and I felt much less silly. The flashing light made feel a little queasy at first even with my eyes closed but I soon got use to it.
The process is quite time consuming but I took advantage to catch up with BH and the forums once I finished around my eyes as by then I was able to open them.
I used the device every second day as recommended and haven't notice a great difference except that it made my skin feel really smooth and silky but I think it will take much longer to repair as it has taken many years of neglect and sun damage for my skin to get this way in the first place. It did also reduce some of the redness around my cheeks and chin. I have quite a few small wrinkles around my mouth and eyes and some purple lines on my chin, which don’t seem to have changed but I am going to continue to use it for the whole six months and am confident that time and perseverance is the answer. I will report back and review the product again after the six-month period and let you know if there are any significant changes by then.
I think for the price and the convenience it is really worthwhile and would be an excellent product for working women as it is so easy to do the process in the comfort of your own home and I found it was a great way to wind down after a long day. Thanks so much for including me in such a great trial BH.

Skin Physics LED

I was happy to be part of the trial team selected to test the skin physics LED system. I had done some research on phototherapy and anti- aging and there are a number of peer-reviewed medical articles supporting the anti-aging benefits of light therapy. Basically the LED light interacts with the skin cells activating them to multiply and to stimulate the production of collagen and elastin.

The kit comes in a large red box with the photon device, a charging unit, eye goggles, instructional DVD and booklet, and small 30ml trial sizes of the skin care products – Cellugen cleanse, Cellugen night and Cellugen activating serum.

I terms of the skin care regime you are to cleanse and exfoliate with the Cellugen cleanse, use the Cellugen activating serum immediately before the light treatment and follow up the treatment with the Cellugen night. Personally I found these skin products too harsh to use on my sensitive skin and I did not like the smell of these products. I also found that the activating serum absorbs far too quickly into the skin and you need a fair amount reapplied during each session. A major drawback of this systems is that these skin care products are expensive to re-purchase and do not go far. I think any good quality skin care regime will give the same results, so I have now been using my own cleanser and night cream instead of the skin physics. I have replaced the Cellugen activating serum with an inexpensive daytime moisturiser.

I also found the goggles to be too hard and small to wear and they dug into my eye socket and were extremely painful.

As said by other members’ reviews the instruction booklet is confusing and you really need to watch the DVD to understand how to use the light device properly.

First you turn it on and use in on constant mode for 3 minutes to “prime” your entire face, followed by several 4 minute sessions on pulse mode concentrating on specific areas of your face.
For the first 3-minute "priming" session, dividing your face into six treatment areas works, because you're gently moving the Photon over each section so it's completely covered. You'll hear a beep every 30 seconds, telling you to move on to the next section.

However, when it comes to the main pulse treatment, you must hold the device still in one place for the whole 4 minutes - The treatment head is not big enough to cover each entire section and then six sections aren't enough to cover your whole face. So instead of six 4 minute treatments totaling 24 minutes which is manageable every second night I found that I had to divide my face into 12 sections which totaled 48 minutes Add in cleansing, the 3 minute priming treatment, moisturizing etc and it takes about an hour which can be very timely. However after the first two weeks you only have to do the treatment twice weekly for a month and then weekly from there on.

I divided my face into sections as below:
Forehead – 3 sections, middle of forehead and 2 x above eyebrows
Eyes and Cheeks – 4 sections, 2 x check and 2x side of eye to target crows feet
Lower face –5 sections, 2x jowls, 2x naso-labial folds (the lines that run from your nose to the corners your mouth), and 1 x mouth and chin.

Personally, I can't report any amazing benefits – probably because I am 26 and also have taken good care of my skin lately, so my skin was already in good shape before using the device. That being said my skin does look healthier and more even-toned but I cannot say it’s because of Skin physics.
Overall I give the product three stars - although I am confident that it will work as many medical journals support this technology the time it takes for each treatment session, the painful eye goggles, confusing instructions, the initial price, plus the costs of replacing the skin care products are the major drawbacks of this product

Skin Therapy

I am trialling this new Skin Physics LED Photon as part of the trial team and have been using the product now for 3 weeks. I have been using it every second night for between 20 and thirty minutes each session.
The first thing I did was charge the product and left it overnight to fully charge. You do need to mnake sure its properly inserted, otherise it wont chanrge, so just push it down and watch the charge button come on and start working.
So first of all, I read the instruction book which is really confusing, as I would assume at least 90% of people using this product would not have used anything like this on their skin before. So I then turned to the dvd for more help, and this was a little better (By the way, it's Melissa Gilbert from Litle House on the Prairie doing the instructional dvd!). I think they need to show more of the product being used so we know how to use it, as its a product that we need to see being used.
In the box there are 3 products. A cleanser with fruit acids to help exfoliate and I used this before I used the LED. Then there's a serum, a bright yellow gel which absorbs in and you apply this just before use. Then there's the night cream with Collagen, which is very rich and I suggest using sparingly, as it left my skin oily, greasy and with pimples.
Now to the usage. Right you turn it on, and use it on the Constant mode first, moving the gadget around all over your face. I did use it over the eye area as the goggles provided were very painful to wear. Then you use it on the pulse mode, and leave it in one place until you hear the beep (which is every 30 seconds) and then move onto another area.
After 3 weeks, I have noticed little improvement. However I have read it takes a good 3 monthes to get results, so 3 weeks isn't even a third of that, so I am going to use it for the 3 monthes and then add an additional review if my skin has improved. I was hoping to see less lines, less pimple scars and more improvement of dark circles, wrinkles and lines under my eyes, as well as frown lines and pores. You have to use it 3 times a week for a month, then twice a week for 2 weeks, then once a week thereafter.
I will continue using the product and will continue to do so and am hopeful that I will see some results.
I am firm believer in nothing works overnight, as well as the skin takes over 4 weeks to renew its cells, so I would like to give the product a chance and use it over 2 or 3 skin cycles.

Skin Physics Photon LED Light Therapy

I’ve been trying out the skin physics photon on and off now for about 4 months. I originally saw it being sold in the store Myer, but the $350 price tag being charged at that time put me off from purchasing. However, after doing a bit of research on the net and of other similar products now available in Australia, I discovered that it could be purchased at a discounted price direct from the company website whenever they had special deals on.
Basically it’s an LED light therapy unit, that emits a red light to help boost cellular energy & increase collagen / elastin levels of production in your skin cells. This will supposedly firm up your skin along with reducing fine lines/wrinkles & giving a smoother/softer & more youthful complexion. On their website /adverts they have photos of ladies showing improved complexions – and in particular – the reduction of pigmentation/freckles on faces which was of high interest to myself. They claim you should notice results after 10 weeks of the recommended usage – so no claims of overnight changes, and nor should you expect it. Realistically the light unit should be incorporated into your beauty routine – just as you would have a cleansing / moisturising routine.

It comes packaged in a large box with trial size samples of their skincare products (cleanser, serum & night cream) that they recommend use of in conjunction with the light. I personally didn’t like the included products and although used on & off, also continued to use my own skincare products best suited to my skin type. After all – I’m using the product for the light therapy – not the brand’s skincare range! (which I thought smelt awful & the night cream had a weird texture by the way).

The included instructions when first released were dire & difficult to understand. The unit has 2 different light modes, 1 pulsating & 1 continuous, and the instructions made it difficult to ascertain which mode to use for the best effect. To my knowledge you should start off using the continuous mode (a timed 3 min cycle) for an initial few minutes to get your face ‘ready’ and then swap to the pulsating mode that lasts for a 4 minute cycle. On this mode the light takes a while to get used to – think full on bright red strobe lights flashing on your face!
I’m now used to it, but initially I was sure I’d end up with crow’s feet from squeezing my eyes so tightly against the onslaught of red flashing – it seriously made my eyes twitch!
You then should do sections of you face for the full 4 min cycle per area – the light times itself down over the 3 / 4 min cycle and switches off afterwards. It also beeps every 30 seconds to give you a guideline of how long you’ve been holding the light to an area for. Initially this annoyed me, along with it turning off after 4 minutes...but the number of times I have woken up with the light still pressed to my face just shows that it’s a good thing the unit self times itself to turn off! I’ve obviously developed a habit of nodding off whilst using it at night. And that brings me to the time consuming use of the light itself. To get the full benefits of the light therapy, you will need to use it very regularly for a good few months before you can swap over to just weekly top up sessions. On average, 1 light session will last a good 20 mins. Some people seem able to watch tv whilst they do this – I personally find the light too bright / distracting to do so. I tend to use mine at bedtime.
The unit is rechargeable & portable, and can even be used whilst it’s plugged into the mains for a recharge – which is a really great feature, although the power cord isn’t overly long.

After initial use I was ‘wowed’ by the product. My skin looked radiant & glowing and dark under eye circles had almost vanished. I was thrilled with it! But after some further months of usage, although my freckles have lightened up somewhat – the pigmentation is still very much evident on my face. There’s still also red thread/spider veins beside my nose that haven’t disappeared over the time frame – although they’re possibly less noticeable than before use. It’s worked really on fine lines around my eyes & on my forehead – which I’m still thrilled about. Eradication of dark eye circles is still yet to be seen, it’s a bit hit or miss with them. Some days I’ll wake up the morning after a light session and look brilliant & other days I’ll still look really tired. My face generally does look plumper / fresher / youthful but also more contoured somehow, from use of the light.
I’m generally happy overall with the product itself and think it’s worth the investment – especially if you can purchase it on discounted price! One thing I’m monitoring is that the LED light head can get really glitchy some days. It’ll partially work, then stop / start throughout a light session and then other times work fine no probs. I’ve read that others have had this happen too and that the head attachment can be replaced by the company free of charge, so hopefully this doesn’t develop on majority of models after months of intense use.
It’s also worth noting that the light can be used to speed up healing / fade scars. I’m in the process of using it on a massive black bruise on my thigh – so far it seems to be speeding up the fading which is a new additional perk of the photon! I’ll also start using it on my hands whilst watching tv & see if that makes them look a bit more youthful! All up, I give the photon a big thumbs up! Certainly cheaper & more time effective than paying big $ at a salon for light therapy.

great way to do an expensive beauty treatment at h

I was so excited to receive the skin physics kit as a trial from BH. It is a handheld LED photon light device that is designed to work deep down on regenerating and rejuvenating cells in an attempt to produce more collagen and elastin to improve the appearance of wrinkles and make skin look and feel healthier.

The kit comes with the handheld device, a click in led light head, a rechargeable base and power cord with extra adapters for travel, an instruction manual and DVD, the cellugen cleanser, serum and night cream in mini sizes, a travel/storage bag and goggles. It comes with a 24 month warrantee. The instruction manual is quite involved and can get confusing, so it is much easier to follow the instructions given on the DVD. The goggles are too small for an adult face but kids find them fun! the day cream isn’t included in the kit, I’m not sure why, but you can use any day cream with a spf factor of more than 15 and preferably that has anti oxidants in it, as that is the main base of the cellugen day cream.

To use the device you cleanse first, then apply the serum, which I did by applying it to the area I was treating at that time otherwise the serum dries up quickly and you need to continually re-apply it. You then set the device to static 3 min mode; it will beep every 30 seconds to let you know to move it. After you treat your whole face this way, you then move on to treating each area of your face with the 4 min pulse mode, which you hold on each area for 4 mins then move on to the next. The device takes a few seconds to turn on when you press the ON button and is pressure activated so that the light starts as you press it to your skin and turns off after you lift it away. Fully charged it lasts me through approx 3 full face treatments.

I have used it every night for around 3 ½ weeks, I missed 2 nights in the whole trial period. My skin does feel smoother and softer and it does seem to accelerate the healing of hormonal spots. I love the mild warmth that the unit emits and it feels nice and relaxing to use it, at first I felt a bit silly, but I enjoy taking the time to use the device and it is an instant relaxer for me after a day looking after the kids. I have found that if I place the unit too close to my under eye area then the next day I get very sensitive to my regular eye creams, as soon as I move the device away from the eye area then the next day the sensitivity is gone. I haven’t yet had any reduction of wrinkles or lines but I do feel that would happen with extended use. The other thing I found is that if my day cream isn’t moisturizing enough then the next day my skin can tend to feel a little bit dry, I also used it on my sons finger after he badly damaged it in a security gate, it was cut right across, and swollen up twice its size, it noticeably healed his finger, completely by-passed bruising and instantly reduced the swelling in a week, his finger does not even have a scar, so I am very impressed with the result.

I’m giving it 5 stars despite my under eye sensitivity, as that is easily remedied by moving the unit away from my eyes .

Worth the money

I received one of these kits to trial for BH, and I was shocked but thrilled, because I'd been wanting to try it but wasn't keen on the price tag - it's quite an outlay for something you don't really know is any good. Having tried it, I think it's worth the money, and if you can afford it, it's an excellent product to add to one's skincare regime.

The Starter Kit comes with the LED device and a small tube each of cleanser, serum and night cream. The idea is to use the cleanser first to prep the skin for treatment, and then the serum to allow the light to glide over the skin easily. However, I found that the serum just sank into my skin immediately and didn't make it easy for the device to move around at all. I experimented with different amounts, and even tried a different serum, but nothing made a difference. My face just sucks up any serum that is put on it instantly. For that reason, I would not bother re-purchasing the Skin Physics serum - I'd just use any I happened to have. I used the cleanser up fairly quickly and have since gone back to my usual for prepping before use, and haven't noticed anything different, so I'm not sure one needs to particularly use the Skin Physics cleanser, either.

To use, you spend 3 minutes moving the device around your face in small circles - dividing your face into 6 parts and spending about 30 seconds on each part. It beeps to tell you when 30 seconds is up so you don't have to set any timers or count for yourself. This is to prepare the skin for deeper treatment. Once that's done, you then switch to the pulse option and apply the light to each area you want to treat for 4 minutes at a time. Again, it beeps when the time is up to tell you to move on. Once you've finished, you apply the night cream.

The kit comes with both written instructions and a DVD - the written booklet was confusing and contradicted the instructions given in the DVD a couple of times. The DVD was much clearer and easier to follow, and because I could actually see how it was being used, I think that's much more useful than the booklet.

What it did for me:
*Made my skin feel smoother and softer, though I think the night cream might have helped that along.
*Reduced the redness in my cheeks.
*Gave my skin a glow that a couple of people commented on.

What it didn't do:
*Anything for wrinkles.
*Anything for sunspots.

Having said that, I've only used it for about 6 weeks, and I will definitely keep using it to see if anything else improves. Overall, I was very pleased with it, and I can see how continued use would lead to greater improvements in skin clarity.

The only thing I really wasn't keen on is how time-consuming it is. It takes forever to charge up, and if you do your entire face in 4 minute bursts you can be sitting there holding it up to your skin for almost an hour. It takes real dedication to do all this every couple of nights, though according to the instructions, you can pull it back to once or twice a week after 8 weeks.

I also found the goggles fairly useless - I have large eyes and the hard plastic dug into my eye sockets and hurt and irritated me. After trying once or twice I gave up and just closed my eyes when the light was anywhere near them.

I am really happy to have been given the opportunity to try this product, and I know now that it's worth the cost. Thanks, BH!
