Anti-ageing and acne skincare

Does anyone know if there is a product out there that deals with anti-ageing and acne in one? I am a 40 year old that for some reason am now getting acne, never had it in my teens. Can anyone help? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I’ve had acne for over twenty years so I know looking for products that combine anti ageing properties that are also suitable for acne is very difficult.
Paula’s Choice has some good products and are very affordable,Clinique ,Cosmedix
Basically look for Acids Vitamin A and C

I use salycylic acid regularly with no problems and I am allergic to penicillin

P.s. If your only just getting it now *& have never had it in the past…It could be Hormone related…Get your Doctor to conduct a Hormone test 🙂

I’d look for something with vitamin A (retinol) in it as well as lactic or salicylic acid. Vitamin A is great for skin clearing and and is also anti-aging because it renews the skin while salicylic and other actives (like lactic, glycolic etc) removes dead skin cells, revealing younger skin, as well as cleaning pores. Many professionals also believe salycylic is better for congested skin as it is better able to dissolve oil plugs than glycolic.

I agree 100%! Vitamin A is fantastic for cell turnover & revealing fresh new skin, while decogesting. A cleanser that conatins Saliclyic acid is exfoliating & great for decongesting the skin….ASpect Puratstat5 Cleanser is fantastic & made in Australia!…(When using a product with Salicillic Acid avoid if you are allergic to Penicillan). Perhaps try a Microdermabrasion treatment with a LActic peel over the top for hydration…Ive had fantastic results with this in the past….The best thing you can do with your skin ATM Kris to Calm,, Sooth & Hydrate….Calm the agression of the Acne first…Then tackle the Anti Ageing…A Natropath vsit too would be highly recommended! 🙂

It’s so hard trying to combat acne and fine lines at the same time!!
As per above rec’s I would also recommend Ultraceuticals, in particular the Ultra A sheer facial cream, which has vitamin A.
I’ve also recently started using some products from a brand called DDF, here is their site: http://www.ddfskincare.com/

I have just started using the DDF Glycolic 10% Exfoliating Oil Control Gel, http://www.ddfskincare.com/p-39-ddf-glycolic-10-exfoliating-oil-control-gel-17-oz-48-g.aspx

    DDF describe this product as:
A treatment with an active blemish inhibitor and 10% Glycolic acid to help minimize the look of fine lines while refining skin’s texture.

    * Minimizes appearance of fine lines
    * Clears and helps prevent acne blemishes
    * Visibly reduces pores

Hi Kris1. I am in a similar situation as I have started getting a little acne. It appears to be hormonal but it is driving me nuts! I agree with the advice already given, particularly using products with Vitamin A and salicyclic acid. I use a product by Juice Beauty that contains salicyclic acid which I apply to the affected skin and it is very effective. The ultraceuticals gel sounds good too. The important thing is not to use heavy moisturisers as they can clog your pores. A good masque is essential that is designed to clarify the skin and can be used a couple of times a week. Hope things improve for you.

Yes that’s a great range. Alpha H, Medik8 and Ultraceuticals also do great adult skin clearing products. I personally love the Ultraceuticals Ultra Clear Gel.

I would probably look at the Dermalogica Medibac range, it is formulated for adult acne rather than teen acne, I am sure it is packed full of good ingredients such as antioxidants, vitamins and actives, which not only target your acne they also are free radical scavengers and help fight premature ageing 🙂
