Toothpaste and pimples

Q) Does a dab of toothpaste really help get rid of spots? – Ella, beautyheaven member
A) While many toothpastes contain menthol, which can help dry out a pimple, they don't actually work to treat or soothe spots. You're more likely to develop flaky skin around the zit than zap it, and some toothpastes might even cause more irritation and inflammation. Stick to a proven anti-pimple product instead.

I hoped to find this info! I'd better use specifically formulated creams, then.

I've heard this myth before too, but never tried it as I always have zit creams & washes on hand. I find Phisohex face wash works like magic as does Garnier moisturier that comes in a small blue tube works to vanish pimples overnight. I use it as a night cream when I break out, its AMAZING!!!

Actually, I find that toothpaste really works for me.
I happily dab on the usual over-the-counter pimple gels (which are clear, unlike toothpaste) during the day, etc. And if that fixes the pimple, wonderful.
I occasionally get VERY stubborn pimples then expand inspite of the pimple gel. If I dab toothpaste over them and then go to sleep, they're almost always GONE or significantly improved the next morning.
Tip: don't use the same toothpaste as you use for your teeth! I buy those little travel tubes and keep a spare one for zits.

I will admit that I've tried tooth paste on my pimples but it does not work. I like to use antiseptic alchole wipes to get rid of the bacterier on stubborn pimples. It works like majic.

Sometimes it can sting a little but if you dab i little bit on it and leave it on all night and wash it off the next morning it will work.

A lot of magazines say that it works, so I tried it and all that really happened was that it stung and burned my face :S thanks for clarifying!

I think I will stick with using the toothpaste for what it was intended, cleaning my teeth. Why resort to this unproven method when there is so many good scrubs and washes available to help with pimples.
