Really soothing and barely noticeable

I much prefer these to creams as for me creams look awful and don't last very long, also my lips get dry and so with creams I cant lick my lips for fear of licking off the cream. The patches stop itching and sooth the cold sore very well, the only issue I had was that my cold sore is in the corner of my mouth which can be quite an awkward place to put the patch.

Not really inconspicuous...

I found the packaging a little bit fiddly, and it took a while for me to work out how to place the patch on without having any contact with it.
I liked the feeling of the patch once it was on, but don't let anyone tell you it is invisible! It is so obvious! I was the butt of all jokes around here when I wore them.
Hard to say whether or not they were effective, but it feels nice to just 'do' something when you get a cold sore.

great concept but not that effective

I have given this product a go more than once now out of sheer desperation and I have been disappointed, and out of pocket, every time. The patches do not stick to your lips. The advertisment for this product shows a woman putting lipstick over the top of the patch; well I tried this and it just lifts off and makes me look like I have a cold sore twice the size. It does not live up to its expectations.

Didn't work or stick

I found that these little things didn't stick to the corner of my lip at all, and so therefore didn't work, but for the price you have to have a coldsore somewhere on your face where it's not going to get wet.

Unbelievably effective

I have had cold sores all my life and not the small discreet variety, I look like I've got gravel rash.

It lives up to it's claims 100%. The healing time is 75% and pain relief is 100% as is the itch relief.

I have tried the foundation and lipstick and it does actually cover it - however the patch (when you learn to apply it correctly) does a nice job of hiding the cold sore on it's own. i don't like to wear makeup when I'm infected, I'm too afraid of accidental additional infection - but I had to test it.

The best so far

These patches beat any cream. I always end up with this horrible big lumpy scab which keeps me indoors for a few days but with the patch it generally does'nt happen. Unfortunantly my cold sores don't go away in a couple of days unlike for some but at least I can hide it a little, and the best tip is get some lip gloss thats skin coloured and just dab a bit over the patch where you can see the yellow blister, it hides it even more.

Goodbye Cold Sores, Hello Relief

Compeed patches are the best thing for cold sore sufferers since sliced bread. First time I used them was on a developed cold sore, I could not believe how it soothed my spot as soon as I had applied it, then waking up with a practically fully cleared sore I was convinced. I have thrown out all my creams and will not use anything else, this is such a great product it is unbelievable. I also started handing them out like Lollies to all of my friends and family who are sufferers as I thought it was my Civil Duty. Nearly all of them were amazed especially at the soothing effect and how quickly it works, creams just do not cut it now that Compeed has landed.”

yes and no...

I've had coldsores since I was a kid, but not frequently and always just a crack in the side of the mouth - but last week I developed this massive one on my lower lip/under lip area so big it almost had its own postcode! I had a few seminars to attend to thought I'd try the Compeed patches to cover it up so it wouldn't seem so bad and it seemed to do its job, howver I think it made the part of the sore that was just below my lip seem more red and visible. I couldn't eat or drink with it on as it would just start to peel off but other than that it seemed to work well. I used it over night as well but found it better to leave it off to dry it out quicker.

I don't really think it helped heal it quicker - tho this could be because it was the first one i've ever had that's been this big before so it just could have been a super stubborn bugger.

I'll definitely keep them handy for future though as they did come in handy for when I needed to make an appearance outside work/home!

Tried...mmmm ok

I tried this a couple of months back. It does take away the tingly feeling of a coldsore, but the circles themselves are pretty big. On this occasion the coldsore I got, was on my lower lip, so the circle would be half off my lip and half on it. This was the only reason you would have noticed it.

This is good if you really want to hide it, but I would still use the cream at night.

TT:Compeed Cold sore patch

This hygienic box of cold sore patches consists of 12 individually wrapped. Each cold sore patch is reached to by pulling on both sides of the wrapper and there I have my cold sore patch.

The cold sore patch is about 1cm in diameter and is easily stuck onto the cold sore without any pain or any stinging sensation. The patch is quite waterproof as i was able to eat and drink with not much problem.

This worked for me instantly over night! I woke up with no swelled, inflammed and no painful cold sore! It was simply just a scab that needed a another day or two to heal! I used it for another night and I would say that my cold sore was healed and gone! (left only little mark which went away day after so Im guessing it is part of the healing process).

No smell as such and absolutely non irritating on my sensitive lips!

5/5 and would recommend to family and friends

xx

works to soothe the crazy itch ...but Zovirax is the clear winner

These cannot be applied near the softer part of lip or close to corner's of mouth as the second you drink they will start peeling off.

Pretty good!

Having suffered from coldsores since I was little, Im ready to try ANYTHING to get rid of them when they crop up. This product is good. Not great.
The product is not that fantastic for us thin lipped girls, as the majority of the patch is very visible on the skin, but on the other side of the fence, its either a compeed patch or an ugly coldsore being seen, and I would rather people think ive stuck a bit of sticky tape to my face then show a horrible red coldsore! Its also hardly effective for coldsore on the inner parts of your lips, as your saliva is CONSTANTLY lifting the adhesive away, meaning you have to replace them alot. Eating and drinking also means replacing them quite often.
Im on coldsore day 5 currently, and having worn compeed patches from the beginning I cannot tell a noticeable difference in healing. BUT!
I love the way its a total barrier between the outside world and my coldsore. Ive been using it non-stop and am able to touch and lick my lips without being scared of spreading the coldsore around, which also means I cant fiddle with the coldsore and delay healing.

Very happy!

I woke up on a wednesday morning and realized I had a cold sore, I was so annoyed because I was going out on friday and could tell it was going to be a big one.
Anyway I decided to try compeed because I had recently seen it on TV and I hate the creams they dont work at all! I wore them non-stop wenesday, thursday and friday. By friday night the coldsore was almost completely gone except for a small scab that was hardly noticeable. usually I takes at least a week to get to that stage, there was also no swelling or throbbing, I dont know about anyone else but my lips really swell when I get coldsores, and thats what I'm most conscious of, usually I look like ive been punched in the mouth, but there was none this time!
The only negative thing I will say Is they are not invisable, It looks fine from a far, but upclose you quite clearly have plastic stuck to your lip. And also be careful when taking them off they are very sticky and one actually pulled some of my skin off making my lip bleed.
But really thats a small price to pay considering the benefits. I should also mention, that I took lysine supplement tablets, which are effective in preventing cold sores, but usually dont do much when the cold sore has come up, they do shorten the length of the outbreak but not this quicky, and I still have the pain and swelling. I am very glad i tried them, will always keep a pack in my handbag from now on. Highly recommended!

Compeed-Making the best of a bad situation

Ok, so woke up with a little sore red cold sore yesterday. It was bound to happen becuase I have a big work function tonight and need to look my best-Murphy's law strikes again!By noon it had swelled into something resembling Mount Etna (and very very painful to boot) and by three it was impossible to ignore. By four it swelled to the point of suddenly bursting of it's own accord, eeeeeeeeeeek!
Enter compeed. I can't comment yet on it's healing capabilities, so today I'm just talking about disguise.
It's not a miracle product, but in this case, miracles don't happen. I have a freakin massive, oozing cold sore that's not going anywhere anytime soon. If i put makeup over it, it would look feral, as well as contaminating my makeup. A big flashing red beacon of ick. But so far I am pleased with compeed purely in terms of putting a sheen over my cold sore. Yes, I have a plastic circle on my face, but I'd much rather have a mostly unobtrusive, matt textured plastic circle than an oozing lump of goo.
Compeed is a lot thinner than I thought it would be and very flexible. It's a little tricky the first time you put it on but then it's a breeze. I powdered lightly over the top (my cold sore is near but not on my lips) but didn't go nuts, I figured trying to hide it too much would only make matters worse.
I really like the patch even if only for the barrier qualities of it. Miracles don't happen when it comes to cold sores, but I think compeed makes it a heck of a lot easier to step out the door.

I can't believe it!

I have suffered from cold sores since the age of 5. When I get an outbreak I get clusters of 11+ pustules on my lip and it KILLS. I had my reservations about a little sticky patch healing my crazy cold sores. But guess what! It is amazing.

It keeps the wound sealed in so cross contamination is eliminated. The seal gives support to the swollen lip which immediately relieves pain and conceals really well if you choose to put some lippy on, and your not contaminating your lipsticks either. My sores last around 12 days, I am now on my fourth day (only 2 days of patches) and it look as my sore normally does on my 9th day or so. I only wish this was made a long time ago!

It didnt help me

My cold sore started appearing on a friday day so I got some Compeed patches after reading these reviews. My cold sore comes up on my top lip and on the skin above it. I had a concert to go to the following night so was really hoping for a miracle and that it would just heal and go away quickly. I though I would just cover it with make up and no one would notice. Wrong! It is a plastic patch and looks like one and when covered with make up looks more obvious. It also did nothing to stop the cold sore at all, after researching it realised there is no medication in the patch it relies on keeping the area moist to aid healing, so your cold sore keeps erupting under the patch. I ended up getting some Zovirax cream and using that with make up over the top so I could go out. I think that looked better than the patch.

Fingers Cross

I have experienced cold sores for over 5 years now, and I could not use the creams and they made my lip swell up more than what the cold sore did. So when I heard about this product, I thought why not give it a try......Oh my gosh I'm so happy I did. The cold sore cleared up within 3 days and my friends could hardly see the big ugly sore.....I'm in love

compeed

i recently woke up with a horrible cold sore on just below my bottom lip so after reading a few articles on bh about compeed invisible patches i rushed to the chemist to purchase some.. and they are a bit pricey at around $15 i have to say they work quite well...
a cold sore is a horrible thing and they make u feel like u have to hide inside all day away from anyones sight untill it clears up (which can take quite some time).. the first day i wore these patches it was quite uncomfortable because it felt like a bit of sticky tape stuck to my lip/chin... but i got use to it and i couldnt cover it with lipstick as others have suggested coz the cold sore isnt exactly on my lips but i did put foundation over it to better conceal the shine of clear plastic on my face.. i wouldnt say they are completly invisible and i did feel like everyone could notice but its so much bette then having a scab on ur face.. the patches helped reduce all the signs and i would defiantly use them in the future and recommend them to anyone that suffers as well...

Update

Hate coldsores but love this product! I am pleased to update my review of this fantastic invention. Compeed Cold Sore Patches cut my healing time significantly and effectively disguised the dreaded coldsore. In combination with an oral antiviral (prescription only) my lips were back to normal in half the usual time. No cracking and bleeding but best of all, I didn't feel embarrassed to be seen in public!

Better than creams

I only ended up with a tiny scab that was hardly noticeable when I used these. You are supposed to be able to eat and drink with the patch on but found that when I did, the patch would lose it's stickiness and I would have to apply a new one. This may have been because my coldsore was in the middle of my bottom lip. I'm lucky to have full lips but think that someone with thinner lips would find these awkward. I covered my patch with coloured lip gloss and my workmates didn't even notice the patch until I pointed it out.
I prefer these over messy creams. They are easier to use over night and I could even feel them working as they 'tingled'.

works well

The Compeed pack has a mirror which makes it convenient and easy to apply anywhere. The patch does feel a little weird - like you've got sticky tape on your lips - but after a few minutes you get use to it and you wont even notice that it there.
My cold sore was pretty much gone in about 5 days.
The patch protects and heals the cold sore by reducing the redness, itching, scabbing and swelling that you normally get with a cold sore.
Once you put the patch on it is hard to see the cold sore and you can easily apply lipstick over the patch, which is great.

Compeed

I have been suffering from coldsores since i was about four years old and have never found anything that has actually worked that well, but i am happy to say that i was impressed with compeed and will be sticking with it. I find it very convenient that the compeed pack has a mirror which makes it easy to apply the patches, a very nice little touch. I found that the patches were very easy to apply and they did reduce the appearance of my coldsore slightly, well as much as they could anyway. The patches do feel a little unusual at first but i found that they did reduce the usual coldsore symptoms and there were even times that i forgot that i even had a coldsore. For the first time ever my coldsore had fully disappeared by day six and i was thrilled. I also found that the patch protected my coldsore from spreading and i am very happy to say that my coldsore didn't scab at all which is another first. I would definitely recommend Compeed to other coldsore sufferers because i know how hard it is to find a good product to help ease the pain and dreadful look of coldsores. At least i know that there is a product out there that will give me my confidence back and make it easier to manage my coldsore outbreaks in the future. Give it a go, you might be pleasantly surprised like i was.

Meant that i could wear lipstick without fear of contaminating my lipbrushes and it cleared the coldsores up quickly!! LOVE them - definitely worth a try!!

couldn't go out in public

ok ok apparently you can put this on and still look decent in public, I guess if your cold sore is more to the middle of your lip or you have lips like Jolie, you probably could. My cold sores are usually to the edge of my upper lips, so lipstick didn't completely cover the sticker and I had a semi-circle sheen above my lips that I felt was noticeable. I would use compeed cold sore patch on days that I know I'm staying home because , I believe, it really worked. Cold sore creams get eaten off and are just too hard to find in a regular womens handbag. Great product, maybe need to adjust the size of the patch for us smaller lip girls!

WONDERFUL

I saw this product on TV, and as murphy's law would have it, had a massive coldsore pop up the next morning.
I rememebered that I saw the add, and went a bought Compeed.
As soon as I put it on it was much less noticible! It keeps the air out and kills the coldsore at the same time! I love this product and it is so reasonably priced. I am definately going to stock up!!!

So far, so good.

After seeing an ad for these on the TV I thought they were worth a go. I'm late to apply the patch - already at the splitting and bleeding stage but even after 10 minutes there is the advantage that I can't keep touching the sore! Because it is locking in the moisture and protecting the skin from the air, I think it's less likely to keep cracking. As a nurse, I'm familiar with hydrocolloid products for wound healing and the idea for lips is sound. Great packaging, handy size and easy to apply. The little included mirror is a little dodgy but ok if you have nothing else handy. I'm hopeful of a good result!

Wow gone in 4 days

Having struggled with cold sores since childhood, I found Compeed to be the best product yet. As promised they not only helped with the pain and discomfort, the cold sore was gone in a third of the time. A handy pack for the bag too. Just a little tip, apply your patch before you apply your moisturiser as they will not stick to your skin. As I get cold sores not only on my lips but also on my nose I have to say you could definitely see the patch. Other than that I can highly recommend this product. Thanks to the BH team for bringing Compeed to my attention.

So Clever

I've been lucky enough to have cold sores for as long as I can remember! (jokes!) Traditionally I've used creams such as Zovirax and some chemist owns brands with no huge success, probably because I tend to touch and apply loads of lipstick over them to hide there unsightly presence. The bh Compeed trial came just in time, so i was very grateful to receive my parcel from bh! I must say I love the little pack that the Compeed patches are in, there is a little mirror for you to use which is a great help when applying them. The patches are individually wrapped in a package similar to band-aids, which I found easy to apply. The patch easily covered my dreaded cold sore, it felt a little strange at first - but after about 30 minutes it felt fine and to my excitement I was able to apply my lippy which nearly covered it completely. Another great benefit with the patch is that it makes it very difficult to constantly fiddle with your cold sore - which is what I always do! Also to my delight my cold sore was gone in 5 days and I didn't seem to get the horrible scabbing that always appear.
I'd recommend all my fellow cold sore friends to give this product a go as it's much better than other solutions which are on the market.

Felt uncomfortable

This was my very first BH trial product ever and I hate to say it but it didn’t work for me. In saying that it may have just been the type of cold sores that I suffer from as mine aren’t the usual scabby type of sore. I suffer from blisters on my lips which turn to dry lips. I found the patches were hard to apply and wouldn’t stay on. That may have been because I was trying to apply them to my lip without hanging over the outside because I tried doing it that way and couldn’t apply my makeup properly without being too noticeable. I found it hard to talk properly with the patches on as my lips felt funny. I wouldn’t use them again but like I say they may be ok with the typical scabby cold sore.
