I was very excited to trial the PuraSkin total acne solution as I had several pimples on my face recently due to a major breakout. I applied the deep derma cleanser daily morning and night, followed by applying the acne clearing gel to cover the affected areas, and lastly took two inside-out skin support capsules daily with food.

The cleanser was a thick gel consistency with the aroma of sandalwood being particularly predominent, which came in the convenience of a pump bottle to deliver the desired amount. After massaging this into my face for no longer than 30 seconds, my skin was left feeling clean and refreshed, it even removed the last traces of my make-up.

The clearing gel is in tube form and absorbs easily into the skin without leaving any residue. A small amount of this goes a very long way so use sparingly. The convenient thing about the clearing gel is that it is perfect to wear underneath make-up, it keeps it in place throughout the day and even keeps oil and shine at bay. It is infused with vitamin B3 and gentle natural ingredients which is a relief knowing that this product wont be harsh on my skin.

The tablets are quite large, however they are in capsule form so are easy to swallow, they work on reducing oil production and improving skin texture and the appearance of pimples and their marks. Now for my journey with these products.

The first week of using this three step solution was a rough start. Towards the end of the week the areas of my chin and nose had these new pimples/bumps that were underneath the skin and looked inflammed. I was warned this would happen though, its just the bodies way of bringing all the toxins to this surface to begin the healing process.

During the second week my skin started to become quite dry. After each use of the cleanser my skin felt very tight and uncomfortable. Towards the end of the week the clearing gel had also began to dry out certain areas of my skin and I had noticeable dry inflammed patches. I was very disheartened at this stage, those pimple/bumps had not yet cleared and my skin was always feeling very irritated. At this stage I began to reduce my application to once a day for the cleanser and gel hoping to reduce the mild discomfort. On a positive note I could notice a difference in the appearance of my pimples, they had shrunk in size and their redness had also made improvements.

At the begining of the third week my skin started to feel alot softer and calmer, no longer was my skin irritated, however it was still quite dry in some areas. All my pimples had started to clear now, although they did leave red marks which they usually don't. I hadn't noticed any new pimples or had any more breakouts, which made me to believe the inside out capsules were definitely doing their job at keeping the pimples at bay. The small pimple/bumps which were brought to the surface have also now completely gone which I am very happy about! What I really love about this 3 step solution is that my skin has not been oily during the day, usually I have to use blotting tissues or re-apply powder frequently, now no shine is ever in sight! It also might be important to note that these products have had no effect on blackheads however they have helped heal whiteheads quite fast.

At the end of the third week, my original pimples have healed and no redness, marks and dry patches can be seen. My skin feels very smooth actually, quite hydrated and healthy. I have a couple of new pimples which I am sure puraskin will help to heal with the continued use of these products. I believe, as with any acne/pimpe treatment, that there is also going to be ups and downs in the journey. Puraskin isn't an overnight remedy, it takes time and patience and I am sure I am yet to see even better results which can be attained through continual use. Great price, gentle ingredients( no benzoyl peroxide!), fragrance free (scents derived naturally) and no nasty long term side effects to deal with. A great routine, easy to follow, easy to cater to your own needs and skins reaction, and if you hang in there, great results can be seen after a few weeks.

Diary of a Desperate Acne Sufferer!

I decided to document my trial of these products diary-style so I could put the changes that were happening to my skin into perspective:

DAY 1 - 29/1/10
Skin had been breaking out for about a week - mostly around jawline. Used Puraskin Cleanser and Gel at night. Used Dermalogica mask after cleansing - skin hurt like hell - skin became irritated after taking mask off.

DAY 4 - 1/2/10
Skin was very irritated over the weekend - cut down on Gel to once or none a day. Been taking 2 of the supplements per day. Woke up with lots of small pus-ey pimples - cheeks and neck covered in them. Changed foundation to Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse - skin not as oily during the day! Skin feeling irritated by end of day.

DAY 6 - 3/2/10
Skin has cleared and smoothed dramatically. A few large pimples still left. Other are small and not pus-ey. The rest are healing and flattening. Lots of red marks so hope any scarring goes away.

DAY 14 - 11/2/10
Skin getting better and better. No irritation. No dryness. No redness. Gel is great under tinted moisturiser and makeup. Best anti-acne treatment I have used in my entire life. All the benefits of treating acne properly without the unwanted side effects and long-term damage to the skin that poor supermarket brands cause. The smell of Puraskin is great. Cheeks and chin and neck are still pimply but not as much. Pimple turnover much quicker.

DAY 19 - 16/2/10
Breakout at end of day. Skin worsening. Would have thought products would have been working better by now. Probably my fault for leaving makeup on during exercise and not removing well enough, or I might be using too many different other products in my skincare regime (ie mask, scrub, tinted moisturiser, toner, facial wipes). Will try to keep things simpler.

DAY 21 - 18/2/10
Skin always looks and feels better in the morning - Puraskin must work its magic overnight! Face not becoming oily during the day! Clearing Gel seems to aid in keeping makup from caking and sliding off my face during the day. The product's lovely smell lingers throughout the day and is nice and fragrant, reminding me of how it is clearing my skin! I will continue to use Puraskin as I am confident that my skin can only get better. Sure there will be ebbs and flows with the amount of pimples I have but before using Puraskin my skin was much worse. Finally I have found the perfect acne treatment I am looking for. I hate harsh expensive products and I am very grateful for the opportunity to try Puraskin.

Good acne solution for grown ups

I have been using this for about a month now, and my jawline breakouts have definitely subsided. The cleanser is a clear yellow gel that foams nicely and removes all traces of makeup. You can really smell the Balm Mint Extract, which is really zingy and refreshing! Just be careful with the spot cream around the mouth, I got a little tiny bit of peeling (but shouldn't have used it there is the first place) Once I avoided this area, it went away quickly. Love the idea that this treatment is wholistics - I'm looking forward to seeing the effects of the tablets working from inside out!

New clearer skin!

This treatment is brilliant and I found it really made a difference!! I have always suffered with ugly spots and have only used the spot sticks to treat them, which didn't seem to do much! I have been using all three products together and I'm surprised to say my skin is much better :-) Even the smaller lumps and bumps have reduced and are less likely to grow into something much more unpleasant. I will definitely continue using these products!

Finally a solution to my spots

I've been using Puraskin for almost 4 weeks and even though at first my skin seemed to feel worse - looked a bit enraged – it started to clear up. The number of spots reduced and my skin texture improved. Apparently it's normal for your skin to get worse at first as the toxins are being released. Over the next few weeks I should hopefully see even greater improvement and because of the results so far I'm confident this will be the case. I'm recommending to my teenage niece who is suffering from spotty skin at the moment!
