Inside beautyheaven: rock what you’ve got and feel hot

What makes a woman beautiful? Long, shiny hair? The merest hint of tuberose as she walks by? Dewy skin? Freckles? I’d say all of the above and more. Much more. Beauty – and exactly what it is – endlessly fascinates us. That’s why we pore over pictures of celebrities and check out other women in the street; why we discuss it with friends and, consciously or not, why we compare ourselves to others.
I adore a conventionally gorgeous face and figure as much as the next style obsessive (clothes do look better on slim frames in my opinion) but nothing compares to being surprised by the unlikely beauty of heavy-framed glasses, childlike dimples or a heart-shaped face.
One of the cutest girls I know has a gap between her top two teeth, freckles and red hair – a trifecta of quirks, which pays gorgeous dividends. This week in beautyheaven we’re celebrating precisely that kind of charm. Ever thought your nose too big, your forehead too high, your eyes too wide-set? Think again, it’s those very characteristics that make you, well, you.
And that’s why we invite you to work that quirk for your most appealing self ever with expert hair and make-up tips to amp up the features you love and play down the ones you don’t. And if you’ve ever thought about experimenting with enhancements such as gel nails or a hairpiece, we’ve put them both to the bh test as well. Don’t miss the video of bh-er Olivia vamping it up with a cascading brunette falsie. It’s fun, fast and no, she hasn’t taken it off.
Of course, one of the quickest ways to transform yourself is with a spritz of fragrance. We’ve handpicked a bouquet of enchanting floral scents to give your beauty a boost anywhere, anytime, in a heartbeat.
Because life is too short not to rock what you’ve got.

How do you rock your beauty?

Kat...you read my mind! A simple slick of lipgloss, a little flick of mascara on the lashes, and a lovely blush/bronzer on the cheeks....and you're good to go!!

A big smile, mascara and lipglos work wonder. A good night sleep helps, too. :)

I loathed my freckles when growing up. I think caking them up under a heap of makeup just doesn't do you any justice! Tinted moisturisers are great to let them shine through. I rock my beauty by just playing up my best features and down playing my features that I'm less happy about.

I don't quite know if I rock what I've got, but I definitely play-up my eyes the most with shimmer and sparkles... I hate my nose so I try to disguise it little by blending slightly darker foundation over it to contour... I like my lips, cheekbones and dimples - all of which I hated as a teen because I got teased about my big lips, luckily I grew into them! People would pinch my cheeks - OUCH! because of my dimples... lol :)

I used to hate my almond eyes because Im not asian and didnt understand where they came from, but now I see them in a new light that shows them as unique and they are among my favourite features.

I think confidence, without being cocky, can help bring out the beauty in someone. I believe that emphasizing what you have already got is beautiful, natural.

hannah - I wish I had miranda's long legs and awesome body... *drool* :) unfortunately I'm short...
one of my sisters was looking at some of my teens pics recently and said my facial features were like miranda's - when I was young, so funny you say that! lol :) I wish I looked like her now... damn this aging thing... lol

If everyone looked the same the world would be a dull place. Sure i would love the "perfect body" and a variety of other aesthetics but then i wouldnt be me.

I love to be plain and to fly under the radar. If no one notices you can pick your nose and untwist that wedgie in obscurity. Life can be much more comfortable.

Everyone has an attractive feature about them. We all have feature we hate. We should try and learn to live with them and enjoy life.
