Christmas shopping 101

So Christmas has crept up on you again, the sneaky little so-and-so – and just like every year, you’re dreading all that painful present buying you’re about to endure.
Well, never fear beauties, because this year things are going to be different! We’ve sought all the things you need to know in order to enjoy the benefits of shopping in-store this Christmas. Yep, the facts that are set to make this year’s shopping a breeze – maybe even fun!
Fuss free and fabulous
So why is going in-store for Christmas shopping so good? Well, for a start you don’t have worrisome postal delays to deal with, you can forget having to gift wrap your own goods, and you can even reap some of the festive benefits taking place in-store!
Several stores, like David Jones, offer professional gift-wrapping services in-store. This is just a small service that takes a little of the pain out of the Christmas rush. For other personlised gift services and complimentary gift wrapping look out for brands like L’Occitane, Kit Cosmetics and Kiehl’s. L’Occitane offers free hand spa treatments and skin diagnoses when you go in-store (bliss!), and Kiehl’s offer ‘Fill at Will’ boxes, which allow customers to choose individual products for gifting, and then have them gorgeously packaged in a beautiful red Kiehl’s box with tissue and ribbon.
Quality assured
One of the main benefits of going in-store to do your Christmas shopping is the fact that you can access tailored advice from professionals, experience the products for yourself first-hand, and also ask questions before parting with your cash.
Be sure to take advantage of having a brand representative serving you in-store. Ask questions about what they recommend for the person you’re buying for, whether or not they have samples for you to try, and what in-store specials they have going on.
Many brands have in-store services that allow you to learn more about the products you’re buying before purchase. MAC offers $95 make-up redeemable sessions, so you can see the products in action before redeeming the session with products of your choice. Dermalogica offers complimentary face mapping, so you can enjoy a skin analysis that explains why you need certain products, and Revlon now has in-store nail bars at selected MYER stores where you can experience one of four nail treatments starting at just $15!
Stress less
Finding it hard to look for Christmas gifts because you don’t know what you’re looking for? There’s nothing better than heading in-store and allowing yourself to be seduced by gifts and in-store bargains that you’d never even knew existed! Plus, with extended opening hours in the lead-up to Christmas, you don’t have to worry about rushing to the shops before they close!
Not sure when the shops are open? Never fear, we’ve pulled out the Christmas trading hours from the stores you visit most…

This is brilliant bh - to my rescue yet again. Thank goodness all the retailers are expanding their opening hours for last minute Christmas shoppers like me :-) I'm still waiting on some items I've bought online, and at this rate, they may not arrive in time - SO annoying...

Although the internet is cheaper for many, many products, I do like shopping instores because you can actually test, and check for damages before purchasing.

I do not have the benefit of these stores close too hand. I get great satisfaction in going into my Advantage Pharmacy, Priceline, Kmart and Chemist Warehouse and seeing the wonderful beauty bargains that I can score.

Thanks for all the opening store hours because I am ALWAYS looking them up every Christmas, then I forget so I have to look them up again. Now they're all in one handy place!!

DJ's gift wrapping is great, but I didn't know about Kiehl’s 'Fill at Will’ - fantastic. Now to find a local Kiehl's (and to send my family to them to buy for me!).

I don't mind Christmas shopping, it's just that I never know what to get people, I hate to buy something just for the sake of it, I rather get something that they would really like and use.

Sounds great! I really hate slow post so going in store prevents having to worry about that. I'm so glad they are open late up to Christmas as I'm not an early shopper, I like to get in late.

Thanks for this - I'm hoping that Westfield would have that all-night shopping thing again. It was super fun to be shopping at 3 in the morning.

LOL the dates on the Myer page are wrong, either someone doesn't know when Christmas is this year or they still have last years dates on that link.
