Tips and tricks: give your scent staying power

It’s all very well to spritz yourself with perfume as you leave your house, but is the scent really still going to be there after a long day at work, or when your crush finally leans in to kiss you after a good three hour date?
My guess is that while you’ll probably smell ‘nice’, your signature scent won’t be standing out as much as it should. So what’s a girl to do? We can’t exactly carry around big bottles of perfume with us wherever we go (chiropractors are expensive you know!)
Luckily for you beauties, I have a few fragrance longevity tips up my sweet-smelling sleeve…
- If you have a signature scent, invest in the matching body lotion and apply it every day as you would your normal body moisturiser. This will allow the scent to penetrate your skin, so that when you layer your perfume over the top, you’ll smell sweeter for longer. Great tips as always Deb! I recently bought Flora by Gucci and it came with a body moisturiser too. I'll start wearing that before I spritz some yummy Flora on so it lasts!!

Great tips as always Deb, another tip I have learnt & use all the time is to Spritz your perfume just in front of you, and walk through it... do this a few times & you'll have an even coverage of your favourite scent!!

Calvin Klein's "Beauty" is my favourite perfume at the moment and it's at the top of my covet list. Whenever I've spritzed it on at Myer (and that's often) my guy actually likes it and he usually gags at most of my pefumes. But who couldn't like such a fabulous scent?!

I always spray my perfume on the wrists, neck, chests and also behind my kneecap (i read this somewhere apparently it is supposed to last even longer there since they are the parts not as expose to air or sun, especially when you wear jeans). And yes my hair, especially after i wash my hair, so it can dry naturally with the beautiful perfume smell lasts the whole day.

I find that in summer my signature scent doesn't last as long mainly because of the sweat but in winter I've never had to reapply my smell :)

i always try that , after the shower i apply the body lotion and spray my fav perfume on top and rub straight away and when i have to leave the house i just spray my perfume as usual and my skin always smells great all day

i like to layer my scents aswell like advised in this article - is even nice if you can buy the shower gel, the lotion and the perfume...best time to get these are at the sales when you can get them in the sets and at Christmas they normally do alot of boxed sets and have some left over at the sales too... gotta love the sales

3. Clinique - I'm not sure about this one as there is not an actual purchase required - just a consultation. But as I can't find any other current offer I'll go with the crowd. Perhaps they are so confident in the sales skills of their consultants that they believe 100% of the consultations will be converted into sales. Sounds ambitious, but I wish them good luck. The product itself sounds very interesting.
As for layering scents, I have tried layering perfumes with matching creams or shower gels, but the perfume inevitably ends up smelling different to its companion products and the creams or shower gels tend to spoil the scent, so I've given up on that one. I usually just try to get a sample of my current favourite scent and use that to top up if necessary. I do like experimenting with mixing perfumes on me. Jo Malone gave me that idea. Sometimes it works a treat and sometimes .... well it's a bit like my kindergarden fingerpainting experiments. Only a mother could love them!
