If your baby gets nappy rash, which it likely will at some point in its early years, you want to be armed with the knowledge and know-how to cure its nappy rash quickly.
Follow these steps to ensure nappy rash is a rarity for your little one:
Try to allow your baby what I call ‘free time’. This is where you allow your bub to go nappy-less. Of course, this works best in summer when you can let your baby wriggle and play on a mat outdoors and if an accident happens it’s easy to clean up and doesn’t ruin your carpet.
Where and when possible try to use lukewarm water and cotton wool to clean your baby’s bottom. This is much less irritating than using baby wipes and as baby wipes can sometimes be quite damp, it lessens the likelihood of causing nappy rash.
If possible, apply a barrier cream at each baby change. This keeps moisture away from the baby’s skin, combating the main cause of nappy rash.
Change your baby’s nappy regularly to avoid prolonged periods of wetness.
Opt for a disposable nappy that allows the moisture to be absorbed quickly. Some disposable nappies will work better then other so put a few different brands to the test and chat to other mums to see what brand worked well for them.

I gave my boy nappy free time in the walker the other day, of course, he pooped which the other kids found quite entertaining. None of my kids have ever got nappy rash using Huggies, but have using other brands. On a poor week, we use huggies at night only, and another brand during the day.

that's true about the price of huggies nappies. It is far more economical to use cheaper nappies as newborns, they don't wee that big a volume, but i remember my child health nurse telling me that from 3 months on to use huggies at night time so you don't get too much interrupted sleep for the baby from feeling uncomfortable with a wet nappy. I think too at this age they start producing more urine.? If i remember right.

My daughter loves nappy free time and we have rarely ever seen her have nappy rash, we always keep on top of it and it's never been an issue. We use Huggies and believe they are the best nappies - each to their own but Huggies really do stop number threes from escaping haha, and she stays dry. We also swear by Bepanthan OINTMENT, not just the normal one, the ointment is amazing and clears up any red almost instantly!

I have always found that zinc and caster oil cream is the best ointment to treat nappy rash. although if you keep them clean and have plenty of nappy free time you can't go wrong.

To keep nappy rash at bay I made sure I changed my babies nappies regularly, so the wee acid did not burn their delicate skin. I allowed my babies to have a kick without their nappies on also, they used to love this. Regular baths with gentle baby products is another good way to keep babies skin irritation free.

we love nappy off time. i find with cloth nappies that you change them more regularly and so we seem to have less incidence of nappy rash here.

barrier cream is a real solution. not only will it moisturize but it will prevent irritation from the wet nappy. try junglebrolly handshield, it's natural, safe for the bubs and great for your hands as well

Finely ground oatmeal dissolved in a bath is a god sent for nappy rash. It relieves the itching, redness and soreness. It also works a treat on my three year old with eczema!

My children all had such sensitive bottoms, i found with plenty of nappy free time, and during the night preferably after bath time, i would put barrier cream once they started sleeping through and rarely got a problem from there forward. Although my children were different and different products worked better for one then the other. For my youngest i found Daktozin barrier cream worked better for her over sudocreme

Also during snack time with natural yogurt i would allow my bubs to have nappy free time whilst eating yogurt making a big mess. Natural yogurt seemed to soothe a rash quickly and ' cool the burn'
