Changing a nappy

Changing a baby’s nappy and cleaning its bottom doesn’t come naturally to all new mums. It’s something we learn as we go. Some of the key things to consider when changing baby’s nappy are:
How often should you change your baby’s nappy?
We’re told that newborn babies should be changed around 6-10 times a day. However, this figure is more to do with ensuring your baby has good bowel and bladder movements than anything else.
In general, you would expect to change your baby’s nappy 5-6 times a day.
What are the best products to use for cleaning a baby’s bottom?
This really depends on personal preference. Some mums try to avoid using baby wipes as they can be harsh on baby’s sensitive skin or can be too wet and lead to nappy rash. Yet using lukewarm water and cotton wool just sometimes isn’t practical.
This baby change checklist should keep you and your baby out of trouble:
Wipes/tissue
Nappy sacks
Barrier cream
Baby powder

Nappy changing..a very difficult but worthwhile skill to master..one hand holding baby's ankles, the other hand to clean, change and anything else lol. It helps to have everything you need within reach before you start..nappy, wipes, cream or powder, a change of clothes if needed and a clean surface.
