Mum’s the word: ready on the run

From the school run to the supermarket and then back home to spring clean – being a mum leaves little time for grooming. And when I say ‘grooming’ I don’t mean an hour spent tonging your tresses or time spent applying a face mask, tweezing your brows and tending to stray hairs - I just mean having enough time to run a brush through your mane before you rush out the front door!
Being a mum means being on the run, so I’ve discovered that the only way to look half decent is to select time-saving products that can be spritzed, sprayed, slathered and rubbed while rushing from one job to the next.
Take Dr. Spiller Body Oil Spray for example. I don’t have the time to waste minutes massaging a thick moisturiser all over my body, but I do suffer from dry skin and need something quick and easy with a nourishing formula. A spray oil that is non-greasy, nourishing and sinks straight in means you can fast-track from the shower to the front door without neglecting your skin or having to suffer from scaly legs.
And from one mum to another – make bedtime your best friend by taking advantage of products that work best overnight. Transform parched hair into sleek strands with Redken 5th Avenue NYC Real Control Overnight Treat. The nourishing formula works its magic while you sleep, leaving locks soft and restored come morning.
Dr. LeWinn’s Instant Beauty Radiance Booster is also my new BFF. Just like a woman this product is a multi-tasking maverick! You can pop it on under your make-up for a velvet finish or apply before bed and allow it to revitalise your skin while you’re counting sheep. Even if uninterrupted sleep is just a pre-offspring memory it won’t show, trust me!
See, so busy mums can look groomed – even if you do feel like you’re about to collapse from exhaustion and lack of sleep!

What ready-on-the-run tips and tricks can you share?

Lol! Love that picture!
My ready-on-the-run tip is to always have your sunnies on you - they cover a multitude of problems - from tired eyes, dark under eye circles, no eye make-up (yikes!!) and can actually make you look normal even if you definitely don't feel normal! Shiny frames look especially great - all glossy and all - they can really pull your 'look' together.
P.S. This ain't such a smart ready-on-the-run tip if it's a rainy day!

Just never seems to be enough hours in the day!! Love to give the Dr LeWinn's Instant Beauty Booster a try. Sounds amazing!! I love a product that makes you wake up with amazing looking skin the next day. If I'm going to straighten my hair I generally do it the night before as there's no way I have 30 minutes or so to straighten it in the morning along with my other chores. Great idea with the body moisturising spray :)

Haha love that picture, it's so true!! :) I used to use that Dr Lewinn's radiance booster, it's gorgeous!!
I have to agree with softness, I think the sunnies trick worked so many times for me.. I just pop them on and a bit of blush and lip gloss and then it looks like your whole face is done when it really isn't :)) I think blush and lipgloss instantly make you look less dead so when I'm in a hurry that's all I do!
Also when i don't have time to brush my hair I just spray some leave in conditioner (KMS) and scrunch it up really hard, this way it looks messy/curly and it seriously takes less than a minute!

A tinted moisturiser, curled eyelashes and a great lip gloss... each of these items says 'I care about my appearance' and can [almost] be done without a mirror!

My ready-on-the-run tips are to ALWAYS carry a compact mirror and learn how to do your makeup in the car/bus/train.. life saver! :o)

Great tips here! I love anything that helps me save time! The neutrogena healthy defence I found is a great time saver (thanks to bh big time for letting me trial it!). Great moisturiser and sunscreen in one. I put it on when Im crawling out of bed and Im happy that Ive addressed two things before getting up!

Great article and some clever feedback here. Wish I had more ready on the run tips, would save me stressing out so much i'm sure, lol. I like overnight leave in hair treatments, night serums to help me look more revived of a morning... anything that works! Clarins beauty flash balm is a great pick me up and revlons spa concealer helps hide my tired eyes. I honestly do the plait/ponytail trick and the sunnies one like Softness suggested, saves me on many a day!

Silk pillow cases are a good tip too. Means you can wash and style your hair the night before and not waking up looking like you've been dragged through a hedge backwards. The silkiness of the material keeps hair in place - magic!

When my kids were bubs I had to invest in one of those harness things (like a backpack that sits at the front, lol) and strap the kid in so that I could get my daily housework done, there would be a bub attached to my front whenever I was washing up or hanging out the clothes etc, lol, it was the only way, especially with my first born, he would cry if he wasn't being picked up and without the harness nothing would have gotten done, lol.

Definately tinted moisturiser quick and easy to apply makes your skin look good without looking like you have make up on and lip gloss always in my car.

Fantastic article. I shall definitely be adding this to my favourites. Love the pic. I can very much relate to it - having to multitask. I have invested in some tinted moisturiser (olay touch of foundation) for being able to scoot out the door and look half decent. I also tend to put my jewellery in my bag (in a safe place) and put it on as I am driving along - well stopped at traffic lights.

headscarves & dry shampoo for less than fab hair & tinted moisturiser is great! it's light enough that you won't look cakey & even more tired, but still evens out your skin tone. I also love eye drops to freshen up your eyes & feel that little bit more awake

That picture is how I feel!
I love mineral foundation..it is so quick and easy and makes you feel good.
Also, if you are going anywhere, dress your kids last. That way, they have less chance of spoiling thier nice clothes and you wont have to keep reminding them to stay clean lol
