Face Powder.

My skin is combination and I have tried very many face powders to set my foundation. By about lunch time my skin is oily and you can barely tell I used powder in the first place. I was just wondering if anyone has found a really good face powder that lasts the distance. With thanks Ausblonde.

If you’re looking for a product to set your foundation have you considered using a setting spray? I have been using Skindinavia’s setting spray for the past week and am absolutely living it, it has removed my need for powder all together. They have a range of formulas to suit different skin types too. It makes my makeup last all day and prevents excess oil as well as my foundation clinging to any dry patches.

I know a lot of people prefer the look of powdered skin (as i once did) but just thought I’d make the suggestion 🙂

I love ELF studio HD powder. It comes in a big black box and is white in colour. I have had mine for ages now and there is barely a dent in it 🙂

I swear by “Mattify! cosmetics” face powders. They are specially made for really oily skin, are translucent and can be worn under make up over make up or both. I love love love it and highly recommend it

I’m very oily in my t-zone! Best thing I did was go on Diane 35 birth control pill. It does lessen my oilies a bit.

    Products I love:
–Clarins Loose Translucent Powder (really really good!)
–Australis Fresh and Flawless Powder foundation (another awesome product)
–Fyrinnae Velvet Gel Silica Primer (the only primer that controls oil for me)
–YSL Teint Resist liquid foundation (a lightweight foundation that stays on and doesn’t fade)
–Everyday Minerals Multi Tasking Concealer (a powder concealer that lasts well on oily skin)
–Mentholatum Silky BB Cream (like a tinted moisturizer but better coverage and good sunscreen protection)

Do treat oily skin with care. Use gentle cleansers and light lotion moisturisers or gels. Sometimes skin is oily because you’ve dehydrated it with harsh skincare.

I know how you guys feel with the oiliness, my forehead shines like a bowling ball!
I use a Maybelline Face Power (not mineral) which works for me, though if I wear for an extented period (eg. for a whole working day) my face starts to feel a little dry.

I have pretty oily skin and have the same prob- notice around lunch time how greasy & gross my skin looks lol…. BUT I just found the BEST product I have ever used… and its cheap. ZA groovy smoovy is the most amazing oil blotting powder I’ve ever used. I’ve started using this instead of my usual powder and the results are just amazing, you apply this powder and your make up looks instantly refreshed and completely oil free.. I highly recommend it.. give it a go!! 🙂 I reckon I’ll be using this forever and hope like hell they don’t stop making it!! haha

    Good advice from Melmeko!

I like Smashbox’s face powder. It’s pretty expensive (I think it was around $80) but it has lasted me ages. Looking at the other comments though, I think I’ll try the Australis powder next.
