Spring make-up trends to bookmark

With every new season comes a new trend in colour, styles and texture. While it’s important to be aware of what styles work for you, it’s also fun to branch out and try new looks when you’re in the mood to shake things up.
So ditch the pink gloss and the beige shadow and get set for some bang on-trend beauty looks that will make you look gorgeous and well and truly see you into spring…
Eyes
This season, like in fashion, colour is HUGE! And the best way to display colour is definitely on your eyes or lips. Make-up Artist Steffen Zoll from La Biosthetique says that we’ll be seeing plenty of green, orange and fresh pink on the eyes this season. Teamed with a neutral partner on the lips, these colours will provide a burst of energy and radiance for a confident look. Nicole Thompson from MAC agrees that colour is definitely on the menu this season and encourages us to play around with all sorts of tones and textures, like glitter, bright blues and even reds on our eyes. If colour isn’t for you, no problem – Nicole also reports that there was an unbelievable volume of dewy, nude eyelids on show at New York Fashion Week this year, especially at shows like Costume National and Balmain. Team them with a bright, bold lip to be supremely stylish.
Lips
Red lips are back, baby – but not in their usual form. Nicole Thompson from MAC says that they should be either chalky matte, orange/red or supremely glossy to make an impact. Brights are also big this season, playing off the ‘colour blocking’ trend that’s taken the fashion world by storm, more and more people are keeping the face entirely neutral and applying a brighter than bright fuchsia or orange lip hue with serious shock factor. Other trends to look out for are the return of super gloss, with a matte finish not as prominent as it was a year ago. That is, of course, unless you choose to try the final trend? 1990s brown tones being used on the lips. Brown-toned lips are definitely made to be matte, so keep that gloss far away.
Face
Dewy finishes on the face are the look to watch out for this season, with matte mostly saved for those with combination skin. With many a MAC Clear Lipglass being used to highlight cheekbones and the highest points of the face backstage at NY Fashion Week this year, we’re betting high gloss is a trend set to take off. Keeping in with colour, Make-up Artist Steffen Zoll from La Biosthetique tells us that though complexions should be ‘fresh and juicy’, a light dusting of bronzer is your ticket out of winter and into a natural summer glow that accentuates the colour you already have. If you’re after a touch more colour to see you into summer, brands like Benefit have launched coloured cheek face products like Cha Cha tint (a mango coloured lip and cheek stain) so you won’t be short of options!
Nails
If you’re a little weary about playing with bold colours on your face, then your digits are the perfect playing field. Since the launch of nail stickers (which don’t chip and last for up to two weeks), we’ve seen a lot of patterned designs on nails. A mix of metallics and slightly stranger styles. Yep, anything weird and wonderful is definitely high on our hit list. Take Shatter by OPI for example. The perfect finishing touch for any polish if you want to create an original style. The antique-style pink and dark neutrals from the OPI Touring America Collection are also set to be huge this season, especially for those who want alternatives to the striking red and pink brights that are all the rage right now.
What are your predictions for hot make-up trends this season?

Excited to hear that green eyeshadow is on the fashion horizon - yay! I'm always on the hunt for pretty green shades, but some companies simply don't include the colour in their ranges, unless you buy a huge palette, or else it's more of a bronze-olive. I'm after bold mint, teal or emerald, so fingers crossed some will be released soon. Love the orange-red lippie in the photo...

I am excited about colour, because I love colours but do tend to stay on the safe side with pinks/browns.
I am making it a personal goal to use green eyeshadow!

I love love love colour so Im definitely excited by the bold colours and colour blocking trend. Really wish I had the money to go out and splurge on some bright clothes....but I do have the bright makeup so maybe I can comprimise. Pink blush matched with purple green or orange eyeshadow is bright and fun and Im going to go and do my makeup right now! So glad colour blocking doesnt need to have bronzed skin :)

I love that bright orangey lipstick. I have been looking for one that colour. I love the idea of green eyeshadow too. I have a hard time finding green eyeshadow, other than olive greens. I would love a deep emerald green so I hope your predictions are right.

I can't wait for this Spring and Summer... The colours are amazing! and I have to say the return of the 1950's style swimwear is genius! Time to get to work on the bikini body because this Summer will be one to remember! <3

I'm thinking that really bright, fun colours for nails will be in for spring - it's just been what feels like such a long cold winter that we're all really ready for something 'springy'!

I love spring makeup and apart from summer, is my fav type of seasonal makeup. Pastels, bright lips and rosy cheeks are all huge and i love them. My only problem is finding pastel eyeshadows that not only look great in their packaging but translate when on my eye
