Face your fears…and do it anyway!

We’ve noticed that a few of you have mentioned in the forums that you’re too afraid to try a liquid liner.
Well, if you think we’re just gonna stand back and let you scaredy cats get away with it, you’ve got another thing coming!
That’s right beauties, it’s time to get that liquid liner you’ve been lusting after, face your fears and go ahead and try it – what’s the worst that can happen? They didn’t create make-up remover for nothing you know!
But just to show you how much we care, we’ll help you take your first few steps into the big, bold world of liquid liners with a few application tips:
- If you’re not feeling confident, start by defining your peepers with a regular eye pencil, or with a fine, slanted brush and some eye shadow, before copying over it with your liquid liner.
- Rather than attempting to draw your line in one go, use tiny little dots instead and just slowly join them together. It’s a bit more time consuming, but it’ll help you gain a steady hand and achieve a precise line.
- Have a cotton bud and some eye make-up remover handy – it’s the easiest way to quickly correct liner that’s been applied crookedly or too thickly, without having to start again from scratch.
Liquid liners I love:
Rimmel London Professional Liquid Eye Liner
Laura Mercier Caviar Eyeliner
MAC Liquid Eye Liner
Prestige Cosmetics Liquid Eyeliner

What are your best tips for applying liquid eye liner with precision?

thanks for the tips! The problem for me is getting my liner right at the tip of my eyelid. My eyelashes always get in the way, and it's hard to maneuver the brush.

I am hopeless when it come to applying liquid eyeliner and my eyes can be quite sensitive. In the past I have used a pencil to apply the outline then I go over it with some eyeshadow to enhance the line and colour this is really effecitve. These days I use the gel eyeliner from Mireness which I absolutely love.

take it slowly, and dont put it too close to your waterline - it smudges all over your eyeball!

Deb, that's the way I learnt by drawing a line with pencil first and it is the best way to practice. Now I can do it with my eyes closed. It gets easier every time and then you can get more creative.

I am like gofton.I started using liquid eyeliner only after years of using pencil eyeliner.I've only changed to gel liner last year, with my bobbi brown and I am loving it! Btw,if you ladies don't want your applied eyeliner to make a crease, apply a think/thick(that's to ur favor) layer of eye shadow on ur eyelide before lining ur eye. You can even dab powder on your eyelid too instead of using eye shadow.it'll work!

I used to connect the dots but after practice and a steady hand can draw a thin line. It's best to make sure your liner is closed properly to prevent it drying as you want the wand to have a nice slippery feel when it glides over your lid.

I have to agree with captaincheeky, It all depends on the applicator brush. The best one I have ever used is the felt tip L'oreal Lineur Intense liquid liner too! Hmmm, time to add another BH review.

I like to apply/blend my liquid liner into the lash line so there is no small gap, and it helps to make your lashes look fuller. If the line is not thick enough just go back and add a little more. It's better to build the line up.

Deb- you won't regret it! the brush is just....I don't think words can explain! The paint gold bottle packaging is not too fancy but the applicator makes up for it :)
Not sure where you could still buy it as priceline has discountinued it, i got it at 50% off at around 12 dollars, which I think it a bargain. I picked up 2, one of them unused and i don't think I will ever get to using as I have been using my first bottle for almost 4 months, lol. deb if you want me to send it to you (which im sure you don't , loL!) i wouldn't mind as it is an amazing eyeliner :)

I really do not have a steady hand. I love the look of liquid liner but the only time I've ever tried it it looked as though a three year old had drawn in my eyelid.

I believe the quality of the applicator on the product makes the most massive difference in ease of application.
