Nice idea

The concept of behind this is great - you dial the look you want. However, I felt that it didn't work quite so well in practice. I do like the effect that the level 1 choice provides - nicely defined and separated lashes, although I felt that for me, it got a bit clumpy if I went to level 2 or 3.

Great idea, but not for me…

An innovative concept, but needs some refinement. I was excited about this mascara as it came in the Glosscars pack, and I was intrigued by the customize feature. Not sure what I’m doing wrong, but regardless of the setting, way too much product ends up on the wand, and my lashes end up a sticky black mess – the only way it works for me is if I wipe most of the mascara off the brush, which is wasteful and kinda defeats the purpose of having a dial to control the amount of product dispensed (I need a -1 setting).

I’ve tried it several times in different environments and seasons, and either way, it also smudges way too much to be practical for me. But to be honest, this probably isn’t a fair review - over the years I’ve learned that if a mascara isn’t waterproof, then I shouldn’t even go there. I blink a million times in a day and my eyes water a fair bit – consequently I end up with black rings by noon if the product doesn’t create an armor-plated coating on my lashes. I also have fairly sparse eyelashes, so a mascara that is wet and thick just glues all the fine hairs together.

Full marks to Rimmel for coming up with something new and different though - it seems to work really well for some gals, just not this blinky babe :-)

Not as hyped as it looks.

I was really excited to try this mascara as it claims to have the ability to give lashes three different looks, from subtle to dramatic. Being a lover of long and fluttery lashes, I attempted to try the level 3 setting to add volume and length to my lashes. The brush neatly coated every lash, however, I felt that the brush keeps picking up too much product, thereby adding too much definition and resulting in panda eyes! I wasn't impressed at all and so I decided to try the level 1 setting. I found that my lashes were 'clump-free', however, the mascara didn't do a great job in curling or giving a natural look to my lashes. I found the mascara to be average and not unique as it sounds to be.

awesome and innovative

Although this has been out for a long while, its taken me some time to get around to trying it.
I love the dial idea its easy to use and adjust, although i cant get good results past the one dial. I like how well it separates and its a nice dark black that looks completely natural.

wasnt anything special

well, for me, this was just a basic mascara, no matter what i turned the dial to, it was always the same effect. I got this in the black, and it was a true shade of black, the mascara did not smudge, but it flaked a bit at the end of the day. It is not a false lash effect mascara and wont give you dramatic lashes, but its good for a day mascara to use at school. i would recommend this to teenage girls just starting out on wearing ascara

Great easy mascara!

I've gone through 2 tubes of this now since I discovered it :) It's my everyday go-to mascara.
The brush is just the right size, not too big, not too small. And i've never had problems with clumpy lashes because there are so many bristles.
I like the number 2 setting the most! There's just enough product on the brush to give my lashes a good coating so they stand out but don't look fake. I also use it on 2 for when I'm wearing fake lashes to push my real lashes up into the falsies!
Number 3 is good for night time, it adds a lot more fullness!
Number 1 is great for lower lashes. It's enough to really separate them.

I'll keep buying this, I think it's amazingly useful! And it comes off easily at the end of the day and never ever flakes off during the day!

1 and 2 are the best

Dial 1 gave me really nice volumised lashes and seperation at the same time!
Dial 2 gave me really thick looking lashes with a little bit of length
Dial 3 gave me wayy tooo much product so it looked clumpy and gross.

I wore this to a music festival and it lasted all day. It rained and there was no smudging, the mascara isn't even waterproof. That's saying something about this mascara!

The worst mascara I have ever used

This is without a doubt the worst mascara I have ever used! It was far too wet, failed to add any volume or length, and all it succeeded at doing was making my lashes black and then smudge all down my face. The 1-2-3 dial only adds more product to the wand, and surprisingly more product does not equate to fatter lashes in this instance! I can't build up volume or length at all. I hoped that it'd get better if i left the tube to dry a little for a few weeks, but it's still awful =/

3 amazing looks

This product isn't bad at all , i loved the 3 steps , they all work. You adjust it to level one and you get a smooth simple and natural look , you adjust it to level 3 and you get a very dramatic look. Although level 3 can be a bit clumpy , but practice makes perfect !!

Not happy

I really didnt like this mascara at all, the packaging is large and bulky for a mascara it is thick and gluggy. All it did for my lashes is stick them all together to create about four lashes! The three step thing is just a sales thing because there is no use for step three - its just messy!

not good

The packaging of this looked so cute that's why I bought it. I wasn't expecting much from this but it was worse than I thought. The level one dial was okay but level two started to clump my lashes together and the last one was the worst! The brush was loaded with so much mascara that I couldn't even use it.

Volume 3 all the way!

Although this is adjustable, I always keep this on setting 3 for the most dramatic lashes since my natural lashes are short, sparse and not very full.

The formula is thin enough to easily coat lashes without causing clumping and the brush is great at combing and coating every lash so that they become full, defined and lengthened in a few quick swipes.

For the most part, this is a non-smudging this mascara, but I would it was waterproof as I occasionally get minor smudges due to my teary eyes.

That said, it is still my everyday mascara as it gives beautiful long full lashes that are opens up my eyes.

Astonishingly different!

After seeing this everywhere, I thought I owed it to myself to try this baby out (that’s a good enough excuse, isn’t it?). I have to say, I was slightly disappointed, and this is definitely one of those slightly overhyped products. Having said that, I wouldn’t say that it’s a bad product, just, not something I expected.
I was really intrigued by the idea of having 3 different looks in one mascara, and I admit I can definitely see the difference of the different dials. However, even with the first, most basic, dial, I found that I was way too much product for my lashes, and they became very clumpy.
The formula itself is great though, it doesn’t smudge or flake one tinsy bit, and the third dial makes your lashes look to-die-for, and very falsie-like. I like how I can just use the third dial for a dramatic look rather than having to coat and coat different mascaras to achieve the same (but more clumpy) look.
BUT, the one let down I have with this product, is that the dial broke on me! So now I’m stuck on the first dial (which is my least favourite unfortunately), and it just will not for the life of me click back into place!
I would probably not repurchase this product again, although I do have to say I quite like it, especially on the 2nd or 3rd dial, which is why I’m giving it 4 stars, because it (without the little packaging flaw) has the potential to be one of the best mascaras out there!

Glosscar - 3 grand looks for $18.95

My first impression of this mascara was that it is very gimmicky. However I was pleasantly surprised when the three sizes did actually work and achieve different looks. The dial is easy to wind with a big STOP sign to make sure you don’t go too far, and instructions on how to fix it if you do.
Look 1 - A very natural subtle hint of mascara. It is suitable for a 'wearing makeup to look like I'm not wearing makeup'. It give a little extra volume and makes my blonde lashes darker and longer. This is the perfect setting for work and school.
Look 2 - Bit more dramatic. It gives them extra volume and separates lashes out into a 'fan' shape. Perfect for day to day wear.
Look 3 - Super dramatic. For this look lots of mascara comes out of the tube, and yet still doesn't clump. It is great for when you want a little more 'oomph' to go out, or for special occasions.
Not once did I experience any clumping or chipping. It dries fairly quickly on steps 1 and 2, but takes a bit more time for step 3 to dry. The brush is soft, and evenly coats and separates lashes for a stunning look. No more clumpy, bumpy Spidey Eyes! The brush is a bit smaller than normal brushes, but it doesn’t seem to make a difference.
This mascara from the outside looks tiny, but it is actually 9.5mL - which is fairly large for a mascara. It has good staying power. My only bugbear with this is that it is not waterproof, and doesn't survive tears (thanks dentist!), rain or water of any kind. The brush could have a slightly longer handle for better grip while applying, but it doesn’t really make a difference to the mascara.
I will absolutely buy this again. I recommend this to anyone who wants different looks for different occasions. Another great Rimmel London product!

Glosscar Nomination - Brilliant mascara

I love, love, love this product and it is now my Holy Grail of mascaras. Yes I'll admit that some of the more expensive brands may be just a tad better but I never get through a full tube before it's time to throw out the old and buy a new one so they end up costing me so much more than just the RRP. I'd rather stick with a good quality but cost effective product which is actually better for my eyes because I'm sure I'm not the only Beauty to have used a mascara well past it's used by date because I spent a fortune on it and there was still heaps left. I can financially justify replacing an old 1-2-3 as it's not going to leave me living off of 2-minute noodles for the next week.

The 1-2-3 Looks Mascara has, you guessed it, 3 looks. If you have the dial at #1 you get a nice coating of mascara that's not too heavy but put the dial at #2 or even #3 and you get lots more product on your brush so you get a heavier and more dramatic look. This is just guess work but I assume that at setting #1 the gap that the brush passes through when taking the wand out of the tube is smaller so that it takes more product off of the brush, at #3 the hole is at its largest allowing a thickly coated brush to be removed and applied.

I have 1-2-3 in black and that's just what it is, a deep, true black that frames my brown eyes beautifully. Rimmel claim that "The lash-strengthening technology offers long lasting smudge-proof and flake-proof wear" and I do think that my lashes seem to fall out less since using it and I can attest to the smudge and flake-proofeness of the product. I work in a cafe where I get a face full of steam in the kitchen then I go and serve someone in the fromagerie that's set at eight degrees and my mascara does not budge yet it's easily removed when I get home. Like most women I love long-lasting makeup but detest having to scrub to get it off at the end of the day but 1-2-3 just wipes right off with my makeup wipes.

Rimmel's 1-2-3 Looks mascara comes in a deep blue tube with a Union Jack on the lid, very British, so it's quite easy to find in my makeup bag unlike all of my other black mascara tubes. I own a rather large collection of makeup that can get pretty disorganised so it's great to be able to put my hands on that blue tube right when I need it. The 1-2-3 has a nice soft brush that's thickly bristled with a tapered end so a swipe or two is really all that you need to get to all of your lashes and there's no fiddling around like with some of the new wonder brushes.

Basically Rimmel's 1-2-3 Looks mascara is a good quality product at a good price so it's well worth the very reasonable price. If you haven't tried it yet I encourage you to give it a shot, you won't be disappointed. An added bonus is that Rimmel are always realeasing great quality packs at very low prices along with some really nice GWPs so shop around and you might get an even better bargain.

Lashfastic!

OK, so get ready for me to rave about this product!. I have used mascaras in the past and found one or two that like, but this is the Bees knees of mascaras. I love the fact that there are 3 settings for light, medium and strong applications. I use the light one for everday use, the medium one for day BBQ's or lunches with friends, then a strong application for evenings. I find the brush easy to hold and the mascara doesnt clump. Sensational.

1-2-3 Looks Mascara

I got this mascara early last year, but because I had so many on the go, I only recently tried it. It was love at first flutter, I now wish I tried it sooner. It is the mascara I always turn to when I want long, lush eyelashes to take my straight, short lashes to a whole new dimension.

Presented in a hot purple coloured tube, this mascara is a 3 tier combination that instantly transforms lashes to create either natural definition, sexy volume or super luscious fully blown glamorous drama. Featuring a dial top wand that is fully adjustable, with three settings, to achieve the look you desire; simply twist and select the option you require. The wand itself is shaped to separate lashes with one simple swipe, boasting a brush that separates my lashes and coats them with the appropriate amount of mascara; including even the finest inner lashes. It is easy to manoeuvre and fits comfortably into my grip, which then fans out my lashes for the perfect application.

It has a rather thin consistency, which allows for layering, but more or less of the formula is distributed to the brush depending on the setting you select. It leaves no visible clumps, flaking or spidery lashes, instead they are just extra long and super black. Setting one leaves my lashes well defined, with heaps of volume, setting two gives a more dramatic effect and setting three gives the full flutter, fake lash effect, dramatising my lashes with extra 'oomph', making them fuller, thicker and incredibly gigantic. This look is striking and impressive and is my favourite of the three effects. Personally, I rarely use setting one or two because for me when it comes to my lashes bigger is definitely better. It is a long lasting formula that stays in place all day and night without smudging or producing panda eyes.

This is a unique, customisable mascara, that is fun to use and ideal for all occasions. It would be perfect for anyone because of the adjustable settings and the price makes it affordable for all budgets. I highly recommend it for all lovers of lengthy lashes. Get your 1-2-3 Looks, Rimmel London style.

average volumising mascara

I bought this when it was just out, more out of curiousity and definitely because of all the good reviews it have received from the trial team. the 1st level is the subtle volume, probably more of length. the 2nd level is average, but i love the 3rd twist the most, because it gives most volume and more vavavoom. I loved it in the first place, first few months. But after awhile it seems to lose the effectiveness of its volumising effect, and the mascara tends to get too heavy for my eye lashes, so i end up having no volume and no length, when i have been looking for my holy grail for the best volumising mascara

This could be the perfect all around mascara

I won my first tube of this in a Rimmel giveaway and I have gone through another three tubes since then. Dialling up how much you want makes it versatile. It never smudges, flakes or rubs off. I never get clumps and I can have a light look or dial it up to 3 and go for a totally dramatic look.

Dial Me Up!

I love that I have a choice when it comes to how I want my lashes to look and Rimmel have done wonders! Even though there are 3 dials I absolutely love the 3rd one as I love thick, stand out lashes. There are moments when I do have to be more subtle so 1 and 2 are brilliant for that. I have never had clumps, just intense, incredible lashes. I love mascara, have heaps of them and I do think 1-2-3 is one of the best.

Innovative 'twist' to the lashes!!

An innovative 'twist' to the lashes by Rimmel! It is a great product that customises the volume in your lashes according to the need or occasion!

I like the idea and the packaging. It is a functional design that is easy to use. Just twist (as directed on the tube) for three different level of volume. At 1, it gives a natural looking volume to 3 which gives a va va voom volume!
When I use the level three, it looks like I have falsies on! I rarely use level three as it can clump a bit, which is why it loses one star from me. Level 2 is perfect for my lashes, it gives a great looking volume without any clumps.

The formula is great, it separates and coats each lash, making the lashes look thick and numerous. The brush has short and sturdy bristles that gets every lash and gives a lift and curve!

It does not smudge or rub off easily. Stays all day! It washes easily and doesn't leave any residue.

Awesome mascara from Rimmel. So much more than novelty, it really works!

Do the twist

I'm not usually a fan of mascaras. When I'm in a rush, this is usually the step that I skip. When I first got this mascara, the packaging definitely appealed to me, the cute purple shade and pink and white decorative "Rimmel" look had me hooked.

The main feature of this mascara is the handy "1, 2, 3" step. To use, you simply turn the mascara wand and it clicks into place. Depending on which number you stopped on, a different "look" is created. I most often find myself using Look 2 which is more of a flirty, daytime feel and at night, I usually use Look 3. If you aren't careful, you may accidentally turn the wand too far, which does break the mascara wand. So this is something to look out for.

This mascara isn't my go-to, but I don't mind using it. The reason it has lost a star is because of the fact that this mascara isn't waterproof. I've found myself caught in the rain too many times and looking like a panda is not ideal. Also the small size wand of the mascara does make it more vulnerable to clumping. I would use this when I was certain rain would not be around.

Volume! Yes Please!

I was lucky to win this Mascara from Rimmel as I wouldn't normally have bought it because I was a little skeptical about the 1-2-3 looks from one Mascara.
I have been testing this for the last few weeks using the different volumes for different occasions. I found that 3 left me with really great lashes full of dramatic volume where as 1 was subtle and defined with a little extra volume. The dial is quite simple to use but I could see how it could easily be twisted off to far especially if you are using 1 and trying to screw the cap back on (but to avoid breaking I would recommend turning it back to 3 before screwing the cap back on). The brush has worked really well with my lashes and leaves them really defined and clump free which I have found with all Rimmel Mascaras. If you looking for a multi-tude of looks from one mascara then 1-2-3 Looks would be the perfect choice.

Fun, Funky Container + Fantastic Lashes

I like this mascara a lot. It is the combination of a very cool package with a very cool product. The colours are bold, proud and obviously British-inspired! I can just imagine Kate Moss having one of these on her dresser at home!

The product itself gives me the option of a natural look, a little more dressed-up look and a much more bolder night-time look. I don't like my lashes too big for day so I generally use the '1' position but occasionally I'll venture into the number '2' level! It's a lot of fun in a mascara because it changes with my moods and make-up looks.

If this comes out in a waterproof version I will be purchasing that straight away! The one I have is the normal every day version but I'd love it also in waterproof because I'm always swimming at the beach throughout summer.

My best tip would be to keep it right away from the kids (if you have some) because they are likely to twist away for the fun of it! (My ten year old did this but luckily my hubby managed to somehow fix it again for me.)

To test it, I put Level 1 on my left eye and Level 3 on my right. I was pretty shocked when I saw that there was actually a noticeable difference between my eyes! My left eyelashes (Level 1) had a subtle, natural look suitable for work and my right eyelashes (Level 3) looked perfect for a big night out!

Not only does this mascara actually do what it promises, allowing you to 'customize' your lashes, it also goes on smoothly and clump-free, and looks fab!

This is such a convenient and easy to use product, available at a reasonable price.

Months on and I am well and truly addicted to this mascara! I've bought it again and again, because it does what it says it will, and it does it well! I've upgraded my rating to 5/5 stars because I just keep coming back to this mascara! I think I've found a new love!

Great lashes without lashings of cash

I'm a firm believer in multi-products so I was attracted to trying this mascara as it is really a 3-in-1 combo. It goes from day (setting one) to night (setting 3) with 2 being for when you want a bit in between.

Ladies, please make sure you read the warning sticker that Rimmell kindly put on the product to stop you from breaking it or being stuck on one setting due to over twisting.

Lastly, the price for such a versatile product is spot on and now no one can say they can't afford to have a mascara for different occasions.

simple to use yet effective

My first impression of the 1-2-3 looks mascara was that it is quite a bit smaller in physical size to a regular mascara tube. The tube is contoured and fits neatly into the palm of my hand.

To use it you turn the rotating dial through the steps 1 - 3 so that they match up with the silver spot on the stationary part of the tube, which is just below the rotating barrel and easily seen. The lid of the mascara has a neat little sticker with a big stop sign and easy to follow instructions on how to fix the tube up if you go a bit too far and manage to dissconnect the rotating section from the tube.

As you rotate throuht the steps and remove the wand on each step, you can easily see the difference with the amounts of mascara on the wand. The wand itself is also a bit shorter than a regular mascara wand, but that didn't seem to make any difference to the application. The 3 settings really did deliver a difference between each one with how my lashes looked after applying it.

I found myself really taking to using step 3 on my upper lashes, then dialing back down to step 1 to go over my upper lashes, which seperated them out a bit and also removed any clumps I may have left behind, then keeping it on step 1 while doing my lower lashes too.

It washes off quickly with regular makeup remover leaving no need to use an extra eye makeup remover. I did however discover that its not waterproof, as after watching a bit of a tear-jerker movie then wandering past a mirror I found my mascara half way down my face, thank god I was at home!

Rimmel really has done a great job producing a mascara that actually does what's promised, my only real gripe is that it just wasn't waterproof enough for me.

No, no, no, no, no.

The choices aren't 'subtle' or 'thick and volumised', they're 'nothing' or 'clumpy madness'! Great idea, but horrible formula. I used it once and never again.

Just okay.

I won this mascara in a Rimmel promotion late last year and have used it on numerous occasions since.

I don't particularly like the packaging. The tube is quite chunky and I continually accidently "twist" the tube! I dont feel there is a huge difference between the settings and they can be quite fiddly to use.

The product itself has a nice consistency. However I am not a fan of the wand. It doesn't do a good job at seperating lashes and instead make mine clump together. However, I do like the way it looks when I then quickly comb through with a disposable mascara wand. I will say that the wand is good for lower lashes though.

Even after a few months of use, I'm still undecided about whether or not I really like this product hence why I'm only giving it 3 stars. I do think there are definately better mascaras out there for me personally.

My favourite mascara for any occasion

This is a fantastic mascara that I have grown to love. I love Rimmels sexy curves mascara, so when this one came out, I was really fascinated by the 123 dial mascara. The dial is easy to use 1 is for a subtle mascara look, 2 is for a medium mascara look and 3 is for a dramatic look. I think the concept of this mascara is brilliant.

Depending on where you are or where you want to go, one mascara tube will allow you to choose the mascara lash look you want - awesome!

The mascara applies really well, easy to use, the bristles are firm and a good amount of product is on them. The brush is the perfect size. I don't find any clumping or streaking as long as you use it correctly.

Best I have tried! and I have tried SOO many! :)

I recieved this mascara from a free sampler pack from Rimmel so it wasn't a mascara I was normally going to go out and buy. (I am usually a revlon fan) BUT! I must say this is now my most favourite mascara ever. It really lengthens my lashes and makes them a lot thicker. I love the 3 looks. This is great for a day to night look too. It really does work. The wand is nice and big too and feels soft on your lashes. I really notice a difference when I use this product.

Gimmicky

I received this in a promotional pack from david jones. i find the 1-2-3 system confusing, even though I twist the packaging, i dont see the point in having it set to 1, when setting 3 doesnt even deliver that much difference in volume/length. So the packaging is really just a gimmick. In terms of the formula, I found that it lengthened the lashes and the black colour was very bold, but it clumped. I used my Benefit mascara over the top to seperate the clumped lashes and then it looked pretty good. Having completed the extra step of adding a second mascara to the mix, I found that it lasted all day on my lashes. In short, this mascara does have lasting power, but you can find this is another, better mascara which wont clump.

Okay

I bought this mascara as I was fascinated by the twistable tube. I was a little disappointed with the brush, and thought it was too short. Also, looks 2-3 get a little too much and start clumping together. Towards the end,the mascaaa tube also fell apart, but that may have been partially my fault for over twisting :P

Great versatility!

I've used this mascara for quite a while now, and I'm really happy with it. Mostly I just use it on the first level (during the day) because my lashes are quite long in the first place. I tend to use level 3 when i go out to create a fuller and more dramatic look. I don't find its too clumpy or anything, and I think the price is fairly decent (especially when its on sale like when I bought it)

This is one of those things that is really handy to have in your handbag, especially if you're going out after work.

Not a bad mascara by any means although I wouldn't repurchase only for the fact I love my lashes long curled and volumized. This mascara is good if you just want a few quick coats for those days when you can't really be bothered with full on eye makeup.

disapointing

i was gifted one of these... i find the brush quite frustrating to use because it's too short and stubby, i much prefer a wand like brush, a lot easier to coat each lash without making mistakes. i didn't really notice a difference in the 3 different dials, you can get the same results by just applying more coats or applying another mascara more generously.

nice texture, doesn't irritate sensitive eyes or contact wearers. if you've just newly purchased it I recommend starting on the 1 until the formula drys out a little then work your way up.
it's very thickening and very flattering, comparable to lancome mascara for just a fraction of the cost.

Great Mascara By Rimmel!

After seeing this product in Priceline on sale i thought i would finally give it a try. This product has the same type consistancy as most other rimmel mascaras, the 1-2-3 looks do intensify when increasing the looks. The number one look is a natural finish with great curling of the lashes achieved. The other two looks are heavier and the mascara does seem to lump a bit but nothing a clean mascara wand or mascara comb can't fix. I do love this product due to the versatility of it :)

Very Versitile

I love anything that is good value for money and if you can get 2 products in one than that is even better. This mascara is effectively 3 mascara's in one, which is the main reason I chose it. I have to say I was very pleased with the results.
I first tried it on 1 and was given a nice basic coating with no clumping. Perfect for work or for a low key look.
Number 2 setting is my favourite and my most used. Again I don't get clumping and it gives a more vamped up look than number 1 but not too over the top. Still suitable for work and great for nights out.
Number 3 is a dramatic look and if used carefully I didn't have a problem with clumping. It takes a little more care that's all. I like this setting to go with dark smokey eyes to give a full dramatic look.
Definitely recommend this mascara, not only does it have 3 great looks it also has great staying power for a 'cheap' mascara. Would love it to come out in waterproof but other than that its great!

Great lash lifter

I'm definitely not a brand snob when it comes to mascara (Maybelline and COVERGIRL are amongst my fave) - but i am fussy about the finish that they provide. This product gives my lashes a really even, clump-free coating with great definition, no matter which setting i put it on. I'm a big fan of ultra-thick lashes so generally tend to use it on level 2 or level 3, as opposed to level 1. The only thing i would change is for it to come in a waterproof formula because that's usually my preferance.
Oh, and a word of warning - read the little instruction label and do NOT twist the tube too far or you'll end up breaking it like i did the first time i tried to use it!

Great mascara from Rimmel

I've never been a fan of mascara because it always manages to get on my glasses lens when I blink. Yes, weird I know but that's besides the point. I won one of these mascaras in Rimmel's competition and was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed using it. It's compact packaging is perfect for your handbag and the 1-2-3 looks is such a fantastic concept.

My favourite look was definately the second. Reading in the previous reviews I didn't find much clumpiness, but it might be up to opinion. It definately lasts and doesn't smear during the day. The only thing missing from this mascara is being waterproof. I wouldn't want to have gorgeous lashes going to the movies and come out with panda eyes! Besides that, this mascara a great product from Rimmel and I'd be happy to repurchase

alright

I bought this while browsing Priceline's pinkdot sale. At first I was skeptical, but regardless I bought it, as prior experience told me that not to judge a book.

When I got home, I automatically set it to the maximum (3.) The result was appalling - only one coat and my lashes were clumping together and it took so long to dry that had smears under my eyes. Needless to say I would not ever try it on that setting ever again.

Next day, I tried it on the lowest setting and was pleased. The result was subtle; it didn't look too different from my natural lashes, but that was okay, though I did have trouble applying it to my lower lashes.

Number 2 was a bit better - an improvement in volume and length, but there was a bit of clumping, but nothing to worry over.

Although there are some better mascaras for volume, this is one of the few that didn't aggravate my sensitive eyes, so if thats a concern for you than this mascara is not bad; it gets the job done but really nothing outstanding.

Decent quality for a decent price~

I bought this recently during the priceline pink dot sale and have been using it every day to test out the 3 different settings. I have to say I quite like this product, at first I thought its just a gimmick (yes I'm a sucker for gimmicky new products!) and wasn't expecting too much but the 3 settings does work and the product itself is quite nice.

I have thin lashes and this mascara does a good job of lengthening if you have it on setting 1 or 2, not so much adding volume though. Setting 3 does add a bit more volume and length and I found it easy to apply and easy to keep my lashes neat and separated. I also used it on my bottom lashes and am happy to report I didn't end up with panda eyes at the end of the day.

Only thing is that i found it hard to keep my lashes curles, even though I did curl it after application after a few hours it just went poker straight again, so unless I remember to carry around my mini lash curler with me I probably wont use this for nights out~

I purchased one and tried it many times. It does clump a bit but definately not as amazing as the photo on advertise nor how it is said to do. This really does give three options all in one. I put number 3 on my left eye and number 1 on my right eye and I really can see the difference. However, it does not give me a 'wow' look, and it does clump just a tad, but this is a very affordable all in one product that should be given a chance!

pump up the volume please

Bought this the other day after the trial team said it was amazing and yes girls this is no gimmick it does give you 3 different looks. Personally having asian eyes (long but need volume type of lashes) i loved the natural look the most (No. 1), this mascara does lengthen your lashes very well. Number 3 however was not for me as i have sparse lashes i want to create more it just made it look sparse like i had a few but very long strands of lashes lol. A lot of the product is on the mascara brush when placed in position (No.3) and as a result it doesn't separate my lashes as well as i would have liked it too, it just places a lot of the product on the lashes and therefore separates my lashes into one thick lash (if that makes sense) making it look like i have less lashes. I believe this mascara would work a charm on lashes that have volume and no length. The formula also dries up kinda crispy if that makes sense, for those of you who do not like this watch out i personally don't mind. Other than that the mascara interestingly is said to last 12 months! I also liked the mascara brush, its kinda short but i like that as it gets into the corners of my asian eyes very well. Just a bit disappointed that number 3 look didn't work out for me. Despite that i was surprised with this mascara as my first experience with rimmel mascaras was not impressive, but with this little niffty looking one i think me and rimmel mascaras are on good terms

falsies without the hassel!

I loved this product - im always trying new mascaras in a bid to get long luscious lashes (the bigger the better in my book!!). I jumped straight to number 3 and was really surprised at how well it worked considering that its just one of the three looks you can get. I found number three a little too heavy for my bottom lashes and instead used setting 1 or 2 for these - otherwise i found there was a little too much product on them. Ive never tried Rimmel mascara before and was very happy with the results - and thought it was very reasonably priced.

Long and luscious lashes

I recieved this product to trial and am totally stoked at the results. Usually my lashes are only lightly lifted by mascara as they're pretty stumpy. I kind of thought the 1,2 and 3 levels were a bit of a gimmick at first, and jumped straight to level 3. I was so honestly shocked that my lashes looked as though i'd applied fake ones. In all honestly, i just applied it straight over the top of the one i put on first thing that morning and i'm not sure if that helped or not - but they looked so good!!!!
Since then, i have stuck mostly to level 1 for during the day, is this is still really voluminous. I sometimes try level 2 as well and leave level 3 for night time, as they're pretty long and more suited to night time. Overall, this is definitely not a gimmick, it is the first cheapie mascara i've tried and loved and i will continue to use this. Look how cool the bottle is too! 5 out of 5 stars from me

good all round mascara for those on a budget!

I am constantly amazed that the cosmetic companies continue to come up with new gimmicks for mascara - will they ever run out of ideas? but I have to admit, this one is a freakn fabulous idea. Basically, the rotating tube determines how much mascara is deposited on the wand. Number 1 for natural, glossy, lashes with just a bit of length, Number 2 deposits more mascara for more dramatic lashes that are defined and more striking - but I do have to warn a light hand with number three, as I found that both times when I used it, my lashes stuck together a bit. A good idea to have a light hand and have a comb nearby when using number 3. On the bright side, number 3 is perfect for mardi gras :)
I would definitely use this again, and like the fact that I have a natural daytime mascara and nightitme mascara in one - less room in the makeup and less $$$ wasted when you have to replace it every 3 months! My hot tip is to use number 2 for top lashes and number 1 for bottom lashes for a more natural look.

3 Glam looks for $18.95

Rimmel 123 Looks Mascara - Level 2 at most for me

I first tried this mascara at level 1 and it was great. Lashes were elongated, all had been reached, there was no clumping, lashes were separated and it gave them a decent curl. Slight volume was added, which is fine with me as I'm generally looking for lengthening and colour in a mascara, not volumising.
I then tried level 2 and whilst the lashes were all reached and lengthened again, this time I noticed a little clumping, but my lashes were still separated.
I then tried level 3 and now the mascara was very thick, lashes began sticking together and were not separated anymore. This level is way too much for me, I would likely not use it.

Overall verdict: 4 stars out of 5. I really liked it at level 1 and would wear it at this level for daytime or even evening. I might even use it at level 2 for evening if I coud brush out any clumping. But I would probably not use it at level 3.
I do like the versatility of this mascara and would consider buying it again. I found the level dial easy to use and think it's an ingenious concept, especially as multi-purpose, space saving cosmetics are becoming popular.

I have Rimmel Lashes!

I received the 001 Black in this 123 mascara. It has a very unique 123 dial in the centre of the mascara bottle to adjust for the volume you would like to achieve for your lashes. You just twist the centre of the dial to 1 for 3 times the volume for daytime or if you only want some oomph. Twist to 2 for 5x the volume and 3 for 10x of the maximum volume for people like me who have teeny weeny lashes or to rock the Smokey eye look at night time. So you basically have 3 different types of mascara in the one bottle.

The bottle itself is fresh and jazzy that says ‘look at me I am expensive but between you and me I am not’.
Like me you have probably seen the lovely ads recently and you’re asking yourself ‘does it really work?’ Yes it does! I even thought to myself how? So I experimented as I do by first using dial 1 on 1 eye then the other using no mascara. I noticed the impact of volume straight away with one small coat on that dial 1 setting with my lashes. Then the next morning I set it to dial 2 for one set of my lashes then dial 3 for my other eye. There was a huge difference between dial 3 compared to dial 2. On dial 3 I could noticeably see that my lashes were more elongated, curled, thicker and packed with loads of volume. Dial 1 and 2 had loads of volume but the difference with dial 3 was not just the volume but at dial 3 my lashes curled which wasn’t the case with dial 1 and 2.

The colour of this mascara itself is deep, intensifying and shiny. What also sets aside this mascara from the others if the dial doesn’t already do that is that the mascara doesn’t feel heavy and thick for having the mascara on your lashes like some mascaras do. My lashes feel nice and soft to the touch and they move instead of being a solid gunk. So it actually softened and moisturised my lashes.

My only con I had with the mascara and it is something that I have with most brands even the $100 ones is that it is a bit clumping and gets more so on dial 2 and more again on dial 3. But my solution for that is you comb over again through your lashes a couple of times if you have to with the mascara brush. I don’t dip again into the mascara I just glide the wand carefully through my lashes and the clumping factor was solved.

I am a big fan of the rimmel brand and they have produced a great unique mascara that I would buy in the future.

simple yet effective

My first impression of the 1-2-3 looks mascara was that it is quite a bit smaller in physical size to a regular mascara tube. The tube is contoured and fits neatly into the palm of my hand.

To use it you turn the rotating dial through the steps 1 - 3 so that they match up with the silver spot on the stationary part of the tube, which is just below the rotating barrel and easily seen. The lid of the mascara has a neat little sticker with a big stop sign and easy to follow instructions on how to fix the tube up if you go a bit too far and manage to dissconnect the rotating section from the tube.

As you rotate throught the steps and remove the wand on each step, you can easily see the difference with the amounts of mascara on the wand.

Three easy steps.

Firstly i would like to say thank you to Beauty Heaven for giving me the opportunity to trial the new Rimmel 123 step Mascara. My first impression of the mascara was how can it give you three different results. It has an ordinary brush like most mascaras, i liked the softness of the bristles, and on my first application i only used a few strokes as i could see it seperated my lashes instantly and drew out my eyelashes to make them look much longer and fuller, it did give me a very soft and subtle look. Step 2 gave me a little more intense look and a deeper volume, i personally would wear the step 1 and step 2 during the day. Now if you like a really dramatic look and like to make your eyelashes stand out, i would use step 3, i used step 3 last night as i was going out and was very happy how it gave the extra boost to my lashes . I love the idea of the adjustable wand, its very easy to use and it gives you instructions on how you should use it. I did not have any irritations using this product, nor did i end up with clumps or smudges, the mascara came off the next morning whist cleansing my face. I would buy this product again as iam very happy with the results, congratulations to Rimmel for producing such a great product, the price is well worth the product.

Surprised that it actually works!

When I bought this I went straight home and tried it out because I wanted to see if it would actually work. So I put Level 1 on my left eye and Level 3 on my right. I was pretty shocked when I saw there was actually a noticeable difference between my eyes! My left eyelashes (Level 1) had a subtle, natural look suitable for work and my right eyelashes (Level 3) looked suitable for a big night out! Not only does this mascara actually do what it promises, allowing you to 'customize' your lashes, it also goes on really smoothly and clump-free, and looks fab! This is such a convenient product, and is a reasonable price too, which is always good!
One tip though, don't wind it past the Stop line, otherwise it will come apart at the middle and you will have to get a strong guy to put it back together for you like I did, LOL.
