Tappa, tappa, tappa

I bet you’ve got little Lisa Simpson shuffling awkwardly across the dance floor in your head now, right? Well, as cutely un-coordinated as she seemed in that memorable tap dancing episode, my goal is to get you tapping your brushes people, your brushes!
If I had a dollar for the number of times I’ve been a tad too hasty with my blush or bronzer brush and ended up looking more like I’d been slapped or badly bruised than perfectly pinked, I’d have around…oh…$47. That’s because I never knew the secret - the secret that every bonafide beauty buff has to live by:
Before thou applies that freshly dipped blush brush on to thou face, thou must first tap off any excess product back into thy lid.
This works to get rid of the powder on the highest bristles of the brush, and allows you to work the colour in, instead of just placing it on the cheek. Tapping the excess back into the lid also means that no precious powder is wasted - so it’s really a win win situation. What are you waiting for? Get tapping!

Have you been caught without tapping your brush before? What was the outcome?

I ALWAYS tap, and then usually tap again just to make sure, nothing worse than the caked on effect, lol.

Totally have to tap twice as well. It's amazing how it's something you don't even have to think about you just automatically do. You can see who doesn't tap especially with blush!

I'm definitely a tapper! We don't want to end up looking like Bridget Jones when she went to that dinner!!! :)

I'm a tapper but in horrible rushes i'm sometimes not, but then again, i ensure that I put a lot less on the brush (probably resulting a lot less on my face too anyhow) so i've now mastered who to put less evenly on the brush without tapping. I've not had a caking effect since

It's messy stuff, this tapping with powders. I'm expecting (and I know some company's have already began) a really good invention that makes this whole process simpler and way less messy. Can't wait for that!!
I tend to tap too - I try to keep it within it's boundaries when I'm tapping (back into it's pot) but it's not easy! I love that Elizabeth Arden have a clever little pot that you turn and release some mineral powder. I'm expecting a revolution on this 'cleaner' style of make-up application with great inventions on better powder-releasing containers.

Great tip, Liv. Yes, I have forgotten to tap and the effect wasn't pretty! Lol! So now that I've learnt from a makeup maestro friend, how to apply blush and bronzer properly, I do the double tap, too. : )

Ness, I think you may be referring to Clinique's Quick Blush, the Glosscar winner! I adore that blush, too. It's such a nifty product, that's worth raving about! : )

I agree with Softness - tapping is so messy, my dressing table is an abomination of powder as I use loose powder mineral foundation. I've started looking at liquids again just because I cannot stand the mess and constant cleaning I need to do.
For application, I agree with liv that tapping does help you become less of a clown face, especially with bronzers and blushes.

I'm definitely a tapper of my powdered foundation, I don't use blush (i'm red enough!), but I'd definitely tap that too :)

Tapping is the key to achieving a perfectly even complexion - i never forget to tap! Plus, the instructions on how to 'tap' mineral makeup is printed on like, every powder product!
