Hot tip of the week: A stippling brush is your foundation’s friend

If you’re still dunking your fingers and sponges into your foundation, then you’re certainly not alone. More people apply their base with these two ‘tools’ than a proper foundation brush, which is kind of surprising.
Of course, how you apply your foundation is at the discretion of the individual, some methods work best for others (I’m a finger applicant from way back), but of all the methods, I’ve never heard of a stippling brush application go wrong.
The great thing about a stippling brush is that the bristles thin out just at the ends, allowing the product to be absorbed into the thicker part of the brush, and then slowly released as you ‘stipple’ or ‘pat’ the brush into your face (as opposed to it getting painted onto your face in one heavy go). As your foundation is released, the thinner bristles help sweep it over your complexion, ensuring there’s no clumpy residue or tell-tale ‘brush strokes.’ It’s foolproof!

Interesting! I have also heard of some people who lightly spray their brush with a setting mist and gently dab the brush over their face to set their makeup.

This sounds great!! Anyone know of any good brands to purchase one of these? I have always wanted to try applying my foundation with a brush the way they do when you get a makover at the makeup counter!

I got the eaxact brush! from Artiste. It's soft and velvet and stippling is a great way to apply foundation. However I use it for powder and a lot is clinged onto it, and I just blend it onto my skin! A very natural coverage and I just need to build it up for a more matte coverage!

I have lightly sprayed hairspray on my face if i want my makeup to stay on for most of the day and/or evening. Works like a charm. Don't even have to re-apply my lipstick!

I have a napoleon and an manicare stippling brush. I try and use it if I have time. But when Im running late I am naughty and use my hands... Brushes are good with some foundations, however with some brands I feel like I can see brush strokes on my face...

I love stippling brushes yet I use it for power foundation as it blends both the power and foundation to create an even look.

I've always used my fingertips to apply foundation and it wasn't until about 6 months ago I decided to buy myself a foundation brush. I was so happy with the results as it gave me more coverage. Now I'm interested to try this new stippling brush to see what difference it makes. I am quite fond of Artiste makeup brushes.

stippling brushes give a beautiful finish to foundations and you can also use it with extremly pigmented blushers. It also doesn't "eat up" as much product as the traditional foundation brush. However, this manicare artiste brush doesn't deserve the gold medal, I and some other friends have found a great deal of shedding with this brush, especially with the black fibres and as a result the brush isn't as full on body as it was when it was first purchased. :( I still use it for pigmented blushers though. But I think your monney could be better invested in another stippling brush. <3

I agree also stippling brushes give a great finish to your foundation application. It's quit hard to get to get used to when you first start out if you your used to using your fingers or a sponge. I have personally own the Manicare brand and have had a mac consultant use their stippling brush. I can deffently tell the diffrence between the finish.

A stippling brush is one of the few amazing tools because it provides an airbrush look and provides you with an all over coverage without looking heavy. Definitely recommend it!
