Video: Loving lip stains

Back in the day, I was a die-hard gloss-girl. You could find at least five in every handbag I owned. Then, I started this gig and discovered the wonderful world of lipsticks (the bolder, the better), and my glosses started getting less attention.
For a while, I was happy to put up with lip-stained mugs, occasional lipstick marks on my teeth, and even the odd weird lipstick line on my chin after eating.
But then, Olivia unleashed this beauty on us and I’ve found a new love: LIP STAINS!
Yes, beauties, it’s all about lip stains. They pack the same punch as a lipstick, but are mess and fade-free!
Here are some of my current favourites:
- Revlon Just Bitten Lipstain in Passion. The hot pink hue is the perfect shade to brighten up any look. Plus, the balm on the other end of the pen is guaranteed to keep your lips hydrated all day (or night) long.
- Bloom Lip Stain in Peach. Those in the know will…erm…know that cool corals and pretty shades of peach are totally hot for summer. Pop this stain on your pout and head to the beach with the confidence that you won’t have to reapply every five minutes.
- Benefit Pocket Pal. This slimline travel-friendly version of Benefit’s iconic Benetint will be your purse and your pout’s new best friend. Use the double-duty stain on your cheeks or lips, then add extra shine to your smile with the clear gloss.
So what do you reckon? Have we sold you on lip stains yet? Watch Liv’s vid and who knows, you may become a lip stain lover too…

What's your favourite lip product?

I can't stand lip gloss or lipstick, they feel so gross when I eat. I'm a sucker for lip balms, though!

I like lip stains but they make my lips really dry after an hour or so.

I'd like to try a lipstain but a bit apprehensive as I dont suit strong vivid colours of the stain as used by Olivia in the vid.
Burts Bees Pomegranate lip balm or a gloss in a subtle pink or soft coral seem to suit me best...that said I am open to trying one in the right colour someday

I've never tried lip stains, I mainly stick to lipstick, lip gloss or lip balms. I haven't really paid attention to lip stains in store but the ones I have seen are all in the bright reds and I just can't pull that colour off. After watching the video I would definately give one a go if I found one in a brown or pink. Love that it doesn't smudge off!

I love lipstick but I never wear it if I'm going to dinner. I love lip stains and favour them because they stay on for longer and you can wear it to dinner!

Currently I'm in love with Australis Colour Inject in Mambo. Such a beautiful neutral with SPF15 too!
On simple days I love Blistex Lip Conditioner in the little pot which has SPF20, amongst other lip balm products with high SPF in it like the QV Face with SPF30+ which is fantastic too.

I prefer lip balms to lipsticks/stains. Anything Burt's Bees or Lucas Paw Paw ointment can always be found in all of my handbags.
I've tried a stain years ago from The Body Shop and my lips were dry afterwards, Blooms Lip Stain in Peach sounds lovely though.

My favourite lip products are ... pretty much anything balm or gloss! Lately I'm obsessed with Smith's Minted Rose balm. Once my bank account has, err, recovered from Christmas spending I think I might have to try out a lip stain, looks like fun!

My lips look a little crackly after a couple of hours with a lipstain. I always have a chapstick in hand, but I love the lip stick!

Thanks to BH, I too have discovered the joy of lip stains and there's no going back for me. i have a couple of the Cover Girl Outlast lip stains and have just purchased the Revlon Just Bitten in Adoration. No smudging, no smearing, no lip marks on my cups. I love them!

Love all types of lip products, my faves are lipstick and lipgloss- which should have moisturising properties. Some reason I cant pull off lip stain, first of all they seem to cling to certain areas on my lips even after exfoliating and moiturising and they look dry on my lips. Im better off with a tinited lipbalm instead!

I love lipglosses, lipsticks are something that I generally stay away from though I sometimes use them and stains seem so drying if they actually work.

I'm like you Chanellover. I only use lip balms and only use lipstick on very special occasions.

I've been a lip stain user are ages. I love them. They take a bit of getting use to because they can be quite drying but pair them with a swipe of lip balm after the stain has set and you're good to go for the next few hours. They don't rub off onto cups and whatnot and the design on most stain makes for a fabulously precise application. What's not to love?

I love them all but I must admit, I have been embracing the stains lately. I have a Mirennese one that I love and am keen to try the Revlon one as soon as my makeup buying ban is over. :-)

I have yet to find the ideal lip stain, I have tried a few but the majority of the stains I have seen are rather dark and I have never found one in my preferred shade of light, baby coloured pink. I hope that I do get the chance to find one as the darker colours are just not my cup of tea, even though I do like the whole idea behind how they work and the long-lasting effect they have :)

My favourite lip product (and probably makeup product) is lipstick. I have had a love affair with lipstick for many years and it is known by my friends as 'my signature look'. Without lipcolour I look too pale and I never go outside my home without colour on my lips. At present, my favourite lipsticks are MAC, Giorgio Armani, NARS and Chanel.

My favourite lip rpoducts would have to be lip glosses & balm. Lipsticks and lip stain don't really suit me.

Starcaptain's lips do not leave her property without being dressed, which is more than she can say for her boobs at times ;-p). I long for the day when someone well tell me of a lipliner that's soft yet firm enough not to melt in Perth's 40 degree temperatures on the dressing table ;-p). I long for the day when there's a machine to line your lips for you! That'd cut 20 minutes out of my day ;-p). Don't forget BEAUTIES, you heard it first here with QT. Any chance of a love heart on my blog? ;-p). Or ten?

Definitely a lipstick "girl" these days - used to be a gloss girl when younger, but have now reached a point in life where I prefer a pigment with a matte or subtly-moist finish!

I use non budge lipstick as I like to know my lippy is still in place at the end of the party after lots of tipples, nibbles & kisses. The new lip sticks are much better that the original ones launched in the 80's. These cost an arm & leg & dried the lips out so thank god for the improvements. I wouldn't mind trying these new stains as I have a huge collection of lipsticks& glosses in every shade to suit the mood & outfit.
