Hot tip of the week: a matte lip’s a happy lip

In order to fully embrace a NST (New Season Trend), it’s best to have a few key points in mind – and a NST that’s currently taking the beauty world by storm is a colour-rich matte lip.
To get this highly pigmented pout down pat, you need to ensure the following:
- Your lips are clean and dry before application.
- You use a complementary lip pencil to outline the lips, before fully shading in the entire top and bottom lip with the same pencil.
- Apply a coat of your chosen lipstick with a lipstick brush.
- Dust a little translucent finishing powder over the first coat and allow 20 seconds drying time.
- Press a single sheet of tissue on to your lips and apply a second coat of lipstick (with the brush) over the top of said tissue (sounds strange I know, but there’s method to my madness).
- Remove the tissue to reveal a gorgeous matte pout!
So what’s with applying the second coat of lippy OVER the tissue? Well, the tissue acts like a barrier, only allowing a hint of colour from the second coat to penetrate through to your lips. This means that the finishing powder you previously applied still remains, but it’s disguised with a little pigment from the second coat of lipstick. Nifty huh?
You can use any lipsticks to pull this off, or buy a ready-made matte lippy. Our favourites are: Ulta3 Matte Lipstick and MAC Mattene Lipstick

I used to do that to Liv but up to the part where you applied over the single tissue. I just applied lippie directly over the powder after blotting with a tissue. I will have to give this a try though. I'm loving Innoxa's new Matte Lipstick.
