The two singers go glam for M∙A∙C VIVA GLAM.
You know what, beauties? It never crossed my mind that cheeky rapper Nicki Minaj would team up with Ricky Martin – yes, that booty shakin’, Livin' La Vida Loca singin’ Ricky Martin – for M∙A∙C’s latest VIVA GLAM campaign, but as an HIV/AIDS fighting duo, they totally rock.
I mean, check out their super-bright campaign shot. Ricky’s got his guns out (only to hold up that gigantic VIVA GLAM lipstick, of course) and Nicki is putting her best assets forward – her bold, candy pink lips. It oozes a whole lot of make-up fun, but you can still grasp a sense of their desire to raise money and awareness for HIV/AIDS research and education. Oh, and their names also rhyme, which just makes them pairing up a tad more awesome.
But what are their signature VIVA GLAM lippies, you ask?
“My new M∙A∙C VIVA GLAM shade is hot! It’s a flamingo pink… It’s a bright, positive colour,” says Nicki. And I couldn’t agree more with Nicki, beauties.
Ricky, on the other hand, has opted for a less colourful, but still oh-so-awesome option: “My new VIVA GLAM Lip Conditioner is great for both guys and girls. It’s a colourless and lightweight conditioning balm.” Ricky’s product sounds very handy, don’t you think? I’m sure it’ll go great guns for M∙A∙C.
M∙A∙C introduced the brilliant VIVA GLAM campaign back in 1994, and considering superstars like Christina Aguilera, Dita Von Teese, Fergie, Cyndi Lauper and Lady Gaga have fronted the make-up-with-a-cause campaign in the past, it’s clear Ricky Martin and Nicki Minaj had big shoes to fill. But just like the rest of the bh team, I’ve taken a shine to this talented duo. It’s lovely to see M∙A∙C mix things up a little with a male and female team, and the addition of a luxurious lip conditioner makes the campaign boy-friendly, too. It’s sheer brilliance, beauties.
Note: VIVA GLAM Nicki – a bright, yellow-based pink lipstick with a satin texture – will set you back $36, and VIVA GLAM Lip Conditioner, which is perfect for dry lips or those wanting to amp up the gloss-factor of their bright lippie, is $20. All monies from the sale of these two products goes directly to M∙A∙C AIDS Fund. Show your support by purchasing your lippies here right this very second!
What do you think of M∙A∙C VIVA GLAM’s newest spokespeople? And are you likely to purchase one of the two newly released lippies?
