Evening primrose oil (also known simply as ‘primrose oil’), is extracted from the seeds of the primrose plant. The ‘evening’ in the name arises from the fact that the flowers of the plant open in the evening and close by about noon the next day.

Traditionally used to alleviate symptoms of PMS and reduce inflammation, evening primrose oil contains about 10 per cent gamma-linoleic acid (GLA) and is a key source of omega-6 essential fatty acids – making it fantastic for your skin too.

Why? Essential fatty acids play a vital role within our bodies, and are…erm…essential for rebuilding and producing new cells. They work with the lipids in the skin to build and stabilise the skin barrier, protecting your complexion from environmental elements and free radical damage.

Evening primrose oil can also help to reduce redness and irritation, and provide relief from the symptoms of atopic eczema.
