Oily eyelids? We can’t have that…

As a bona fide beauty fiend, nothing keeps me wide-awake at night more than a make-up dilemma. I can lie there all night, counting gloss as a way of trying to fall asleep, whilst simultaneously pondering ways to perfect primer application and get those fiddly false lashes to stay put.
Which is why when I discovered beautyheaven member, Theeyeshaveit’s forum thread on oily eyelids, I knew I had to help.
You see, just like your complexion, an oily base is your worst enemy when it comes to flawless, un-moving eye make-up application. It’s the equivalent to walking on ice instead of walking on solid ground – in other words, impossible to keep from sliding around!
So I did a little research on primers that may be able to help minimise make-up slide - especially for oily eyelids - and I discovered the fabulous Mirenésse Sexy Secret Eye Primer. This little beauty is a unique anti-ageing, liquid-to-powder concealer, eyeshadow base, line filler and brightener in one. It contains light-reflective pigment technology that works to firm, fill in and diffuse fine lines and it even dries to a matte velvet soft finish – so your shadows are met with a sturdy base that won’t budge – and you don’t have to worry about sliding eye makeup any longer!
Phew… looks like my work here is done.

Are you struggling with any beauty dilemmas?

This product sounds so good, a definate beauty life saver. I also suffer from oily eyelids and wasn't really aware there was anything to do about it. On days where my eyelids are particularly oily I just skip any kind of eye makeup besides a bit of mascara. Can't wait to try this one.

I don't think I've used a specific eye primer before. I don't have terribly oily lids but I use mac paint pots as a base. They work well to make your eyes a neutral surface, perfect for applying subtle colours, or to bring out the really bright ones. I have a worse eye problem at the moment. My right eye has been twitching for several months. It is now saggy, bloodshot, the waterline is drooping and it hurts to line it. I'm also developing a few lines underneath it, and it is uneven with my other one, which looks normal :(

Ha ha, I've never thought of eyelids as oily, but it makes sense, creased eye shadow is such a pain!

Yep I use this one, its a beauty! Stops any type of eye shadow creasing.
Emily, mirenesse often have great specials and promotions, its just a matter of waiting until the product that you want comes up! I've never paid fullprice for any of their great products

I don't really have oily eyelids, then again I hardly ever wear eyeshadow so I don't need to wear an eyelid primer anyway. My beauty dilemma would have to be blemishes at the moment, after those awful pimples the spots tend to stay on my skin for aaages!

Yes! I do struggle with something in particular! Since about the age of 40 or so - and I put this down to hormones - I get a reddish area on my upper chest. It's not from sunlight exposure because I religiously use SPF30+ there every day (and have done for years) but this upper area of my chest still insists on being red looking!

Hrmm.. this may sound abnormal, but sometimes I think oily lids look good. For most of my photography projects, I've always added a little shimmer on the model's eyelids; creating a glistening look. I've always thought it looked natural and stands out from the matted face.

I can relate to what you are saying "softness" as I also have this but it seems more noticable when I'm going through HOT FLUSHES which for any one suffering menopause knows that these things seem to run in cycles. Like you I have put this redness down to hormones. Try blending a small amount of mineral make up to cover this. There is no rule that says we have to age gracefully especially with so many great beauty products on the market.

I definitely fall into this category, oily everything, lol. I am a bit surprised this is so expensive, almost as much as some of the professional brands mentioned in the actual thread. At this stage I am looking at a couple of those suggestions, but if I ever come across Mirenesse having a sale on this item I would love to give it a go but at that price I am more likely to try one of the other brands :)

Have just seen a bunch of holiday pics... my foundation looks very odd in photos - I have a yellow glow eek! Foundation was always fine in person though? Boo to crappy photos! I think I'd rather white face then yellow jaundice face!
Not sure why this is happening, it has never happened before?
