Make-up that won’t make you breakout

A couple of weeks ago I started to notice that I was getting unusual breakouts on the apples of my cheeks. They weren’t full-blown blemishes (luckily I was spared the I-so-want-to-squeeze-you pus-filled heads), but they were quite noticeable and extremely annoying.
Racking my brain as to what could have caused them, I washed all my make-up brushes (they can definitely cause breakouts if not washed regularly), but that didn’t help. And then the culprit suddenly came to me – it was my blush!
I’d recently started using a rather bright pink blush and clearly the chemicals used in creating the pigment had caused my skin to freak out. Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying that all bright blushes are bad for you (I’ve used hundreds in my time and only a few have disagreed with my skin), but sometimes – especially if you’re prone to pimples – it’s best to opt for mineral-based make-up.
Like Bare Escentuals bareMinerals for example. Derived from natural, 100 percent crushed minerals, all of its products are non-comedogenic (meaning they won’t clog your pores), contain no harsh chemicals, and protect your skin from the environment. And because the minerals help to perfect an uneven skin tone, the products – which can be used on all skin types – are especially beneficial for those with sensitive skin or rosacea.
We particularly like:
bareMinerals All Over Face Colour due to its multi-duty capabilities. Use it as a bronzer, blush and/or eyeshadow, or mix it in with a clear lip balm for a shimmery gloss. You can also add it to your body lotion for an all-over body glow!
bareMinerals Natural Lipgloss as it’s preservative free (think of how much of your gloss ends up in your mouth), has a gorgeously glossy finish, and uses natural ingredients to nourish your lips.
So where can you get your hands on this great mineral make-up brand? At David Jones of course! Head to your nearest store or simply jump online and start shopping!

It is a toss up between creme brulee and hazelnut crepes with hot chocolate sauce and ice cream. I adore custard type desserts, hence the creme brulee, but also chocolate, hence the crepes. They are both fabulously indulgent desserts and I figure if you are going to go overboard with desserts you may as well have something indulgent and delicious.

New York Cheesecake! Is my favourite dessert of all time. There are different varieties to cheesecake, but I only love New York cheesecake. I have only found two places that make the best New York cheesecake. It took me about two years to find them but now that I have - I keep on going back for more New York cheesecake! !!!!!!

it would have to be the strawberry based dessert I had while staying at Lanarch Castle in NZ. Not only was I in a castle(!) but the dessert was beautifully presented. There was a little cake, chocolate and strawberry sauce drizzled around the edges, a perfectly placed dollop of icecream and a caramel cresent moon coming out of the cake and up! It was spectacular and delicious!

One day as a treat G made me the ultimate desert at home, I still drool thinking about it! It was a chocolate cup, filled with triple choc ice cream, broken up violet crumble, strawberries, and a TONNE of ice magic, soooo good!

Lemon Meringue Pie! It's got the whole combination thing going on - that lemony tang sensation contrasting with the super-sweet fluffy meringue and just to make it completely satisfying, it's all encased in an old-fashioned pie crust . It's even good for me with it's high protein (meringue) and vitamin c (lemon) content! It's definitely the best dessert I've ever eaten and I feel like some right now!

I got the chance of a lifetime to try Adriano Zumbo's very own chocolate mousse cake, as featured on masterchef. I couldn't believe how good it was. Highly calorific, but absolutely TO DIE FOR!! That man is an absolute genious, his cakes are a work of art, especially his chocolate mousse cake.

My best dessert ever was a cup of lemon gelato. Perhaps the gelato wasn't the best I've ever had but I had it whilst I was on holiday in Rome, sitting in front of the Trevi fountain with my husband. It was a gorgeous warm night, the fountain was all lit up and I couldn't think of any oher place I wanted to be right at that time. I didn't even mind sharing it with the hundred other tourists!

Baked vanilla cheesecake, no that is a lie any baked cheesecake! I just love the richness and creamy texture and great taste and how simple it is to make this beautiful cake and how easy it is to alter the flavour according to your mood. My favourite is when I make it with a base of set crushed sponge fingers and the filling is make of 3 packets of Philadelphia cream cheese, 3/4 cup of sugar, 3 eggs and 1-2 tsp vanilla or any other flavoring I want. Delicious!

Best dessert I've eaten is a chocolate mudcake with chocolate ganache icing, why because the icing sticks to your mouth and the cake is lusciously moist, I always reward myself on my birthday with this cake - it's totally worth waiting a year between bites for ;)

The best ever dessert memory? Five years old, my first piece of my uncle's mars bar slice at the family Sunday dinner - crunchy, chocolaty, having to fight my cousins for the biggest piece! I didn't have front teeth, but that didn't stop me from having seconds, thirds, fourths...

my favourite dessert is a chocolate mousse cake that my mum makes with and almost pure chocolate base. As I am gluten intolerant, the fact that my mum goes to so much effort to make this cake specially for me, makes it tast even better!

Oh I'm a dessert afficionado so there are many great stories I could tell but I'll go with my most recent which was an absolutely delicious White Chocolate Creme Brulee at a local restaurant that I went to with my netball team for our break up. It had that creamy, custardy flavour like all good brulees but the touch of white chocolate made it taste sweet but still not too heavy and it had the perfect surface that had to be whacked to be cracked.... YUMMY =D
I've been considering going back just for the dessert.

The best dessert I have ever eaten is my Mum's Tre Leche. Tre Leche is a popular Latin American dessert, with its name translating to 'Three Milks'. The dessert is like a moist vanilla sponge that is topped with cream, strawberries, coconut and crushed Cadbury Flake and then drowned in coconut cream, condensed milk and more cream (lol) and left to soak. My God... it is heaven... LOVE!

The best desert i ever had guilt free were when my good friend Clare made us Dutch pancakes that was sprinkled with icingsugar and butter. It was quite delicious considering it was clearly an unhealthy and skin breakout desert. I did break out the next day but i have to say it was clearly worth the indulgence even when my skin was at the mercy of my high sugar diet that day. Lucky for me my mineral makeup covered up that nasty breakout.

I went to this ice cream place last year in the city and with all my friends we chipped in a massive tower of scooped assorted ice cream! It was as high as my arm!! And every flavour was simply delicious! It was like a game of "guess what flavour?!"

The best dessert I have ever eaten would have to be the trifle my mum and I made this Christmas. We're Asian, you see, so making any sort of non Asian dessert is a rarity in our family. Anyway, it was a couple days before Christmas, and my mum told me she'd seen a recipe for trifle and wanted to try it out. As we were making the jelly for it, we decided to try something different, and put in a teeny splash of chinese rice wine into the mixture, and let it set in these flimsy, disposable plastic cups. After setting, we just chucked on custard, fruit, and sponge cake and waited until Christmas eve.
Trifle might sound disgusting to some people, but sitting around the dinner table on Christmas eve, with my family, eating spiked trifle we made ourselves, getting more and more giggly, made me realise that the best things in life are the things you accomplish yourself. Or in this case, make yourself. It may not have been at a michelin star restaurant, but we made it ourself, and not only did it taste perfect to me, it contributed to one of the best Christmas memories I can remember. After all, who doesn't love spending time with the family, laughing like there's no tomorrow?

One of the best desserts I have ever had was actually our meals! Me and 3 friends went to a pancake parlour while on holiday in Sydney and each ordered a different type and then we simply swapped every few minutes! We had vanilla pancakes with strawberries and cream, pancakes with mixed berries, pancakes with chocolate sauce, oh and the very naughtiest of all- rich chocolate pancakes! Oh and don't forget the cream and icecream with each one :) Sometimes its not just the food that makes it the best dessert ever, but the situation! I had a great time on holidays enjoying dessert as a main meal (all the more exciting ;) ) with my good friends!~
