How-to: Miranda Kerr's make-up

A mere seven months after the birth of her son Flynn, Miranda Kerr hit the catwalk once more to showcase the David Jones Spring/Summer 2011 range. And boy, did she look smoking! (Did she really just have a child??)
Perfect body aside, Miranda’s face showed no signs of the tiredness that’s often associated with being a new mum – in fact, she looked about 100 times more radiant than most of the women in the room (sorry ladies, but you know it’s true!)
So what’s her secret? Napoleon Perdis, that’s what! The man himself was backstage at the David Jones show and created a truly flawless, utterly gorgeous make-up look that made Miranda’s lips luscious and her eyes pop. “This look in particular requires a perfectly maintained canvas,” Perdis says. “I met up with Miranda in LA and was so taken by her amazing blue gaze; I wanted a look that really enhanced her eyes. Even though I've made the focus her lips, her eyes pop like never before."
Love the look as much as we do? Napoleon Perdis shares his step-by-step guide to recreating the look…

1.) For a look lit from within, prep your skin with Auto Pilot Skin Renewal Serum.
2.) For a look that will last follow with Auto Pilot Pre-Foundation Primer. Remember, not to prime is a crime!
3.) Apply your mascara first. This will allow the first coat to dry so that the second coat will glide on smoothly. For this look we used Mesmer-eyes Mascara.
4.) Next, create a flawless base. For a glowing complexion we use Boudoir Mist Spray Foundation.
5.) To make your complexion completely camera ready, apply Camera Finish Powder Foundation; it’s a silk finish powder foundation compact that conceals, covers and sets.
6.) Sculpt the face by applying Mosaic Bronzing Powder below the cheekbone, Mosaic Gleamer above the cheekbone and, to brighten up a neutral face, add Mosaic Blushing Powder along the cheekbone.
7.) Add shape to your eye by using a universally flattering shade, like bronze or taupe. Try: Color Disc Eyeshadow in Bronze Age or Tawny Temptress.
8.) To add further definition, strategically smudge China Doll Gel Liner in Earth close to your upper lash line. Then make your eyes pop! Use a white liner on the inner rim. Try: China Doll Gel Liner in Alabaster. Now, add another coast of mascara.
9.) Fluttery will get you everywhere! Accessorise your eyes with false lashes, such as Lash Patrol 747.
10.) Now’s the time to create an impact! Grab your palette of Better Off Red Double Agent Rouge, a velvety-textured, strong red lip. Apply that and only THEN use a lip liner. Using a lip liner last will perfect, define, and hold your lip in place. We use Lip Pencil in Rococo Red.

There's no doubt she's a stunner :-) No bright reds for me but a more subdued rusty one works ok - I tone it down with a softer shade of lip gloss, and wear it probably twice in a month whenever there's red in my outfit. I call it high maintenance due to the feathering that inevitably occurs, and it doesn't look good if it starts to wear off. Interesting that NP applies liner after lipstick - will give that a go....

I love red lipstick as long as it is the right tone for my skin. It really makes my face look beautiful (ha not as beautiful as MIranda kerr though - shame :( .......
Only use the red lipstick on special occasions because it can look OTT if incorrectly applied. But now that reds and corals are in - well off i go.
Thanks for this great article and to NP for sharing his tricks of the trade.

She really is just so beautiful. She also looks so happy within her own skin and seems really natural and down to earth.
I have never worn red lipstick - I haven't been brave enough. Maybe I should give it a go?

I wear red whenever I want to and don't just use it for special occasions. I usually receive many positive comments so I would suggest that everyone who hasn't tried a red lippie give it a go at least once or twice.

Miranda has the most gorgeous skin ever and those red lips are a knock out! I used to save bright lips for special occasions but now I find that applying red lipstick in the morning makes me feel amazing and brightens up my day!

Miranda Kerr is one of my key beauty inspirations!
@ Katek1 - definitely give red a go! It screams Confident. Start off with red glosses or tints if the idea is terrifying, but otherwise, hit up your favourite cosmetics counter and get the counter girls to recommend a colour and try it out :)

I like to make a bold statement with my eye make up so i keep my lips neutral. Never been a big fan of red lips but they look hot on miranda kerr.

I love her dress! I used to do red lips in my late teens & early twenties a lot on the weekends. I wore red a couple of years ago for New Year's Eve but that's pretty rare for me now to wear red.

If only I could pull off this look like Miranda. I could maybe copy the eyes but definitely not the lips as gorgeous as it looks.
