How-to: look like you’re not wearing any make-up

You don’t have to wear next to no make-up to look as though you’re wearing next to no make-up. Being a barefaced beauty is easier than you may think – all you need are a few enhancing products that will leave you looking flawless, without seeming too overdone.

Now, for people that can wear tinted moisturisers with no worries – well, count yourself lucky! For those of us who aren’t quite comfortable with that level of coverage, there is an answer for us too. Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation SPF 15 offers light to medium coverage, but is pretty pigmented so it successfully rectifies an uneven skin tone, while feeling light as a feather on your skin.

For a stare that doesn’t look overdone, it’s important to opt for natural hues that complement your colouring. This means no ‘blackest black’ mascara unless your locks are jet black. Lighter-haired folk are best to stick to a brown, or black/brown mascara. We love Almay One Coat Nourishing Mascara Thickening in Black/Brown as it puts moisture back into your lashes, making them healthier in the long run.

If you’re an eyeshadow kind of girl, then you’re probably hard-pressed to go without an eye hue – and that’s okay. You just need to find a shade that’s not too powdery or creamy (colour that sinks into creases doesn’t look that natural after all!). Revlon Beyond Natural Cream to Powder Eye Shadow is a quad that features four natural shadow hues that – although initially creamy – dry to a perfect consistency. I find the lighter ones give my eyelids a slight sheen without being obvious.

For the lips, stick to something with a slight tint, or no hint of a hue at all. I quite like the ‘just been sucking on a berry look’ where you’re left with a slight pink lip stain. Bloom Lip Tints offer a sheer wash of colour that’s moisturising too, so you needn’t worry about your pout drying out.
