Holiday-friendly beauty

Heading away this holiday season? Believe it or not, you don’t need to pack your entire bathroom cupboard and the kitchen sink to look good (you won’t have any room left for those fab holiday buys if you do!).
When packing for any holiday, the key is to be smart about the beauty products you pack – and it just so happens that we have the highest qualifications when it comes to travel-friendly beauty know-how! So before you head anywhere, be sure to have these holiday beauty essentials on your checklist…
Look fresh for under 50 (mL that is!)
If you’re jetting off on an airplane, your beauty products will be banished to your check-in luggage (or – gasp – the bin!), unless they come in at 50mL or less. While this is fine if your flight is just a few hours long, anything more and you’re going to want to freshen up – especially if you have a stopover in between.
KiND Travel Pack is the perfect in-flight companion as it contains four beauty essentials (a Soothing Hydramist, a Botanical Body Wash, an Essential Moisture, and an Everyday Face Wash) in a cabin approved travel pack. It’s packed full of nourishing botanicals and can be shared by everyone in the family – so if you pack it in your man’s carry-on luggage you’ll have more room in yours for Duty Free shopping!
Got a bub on board? You'll love the GAIA Natural Baby Starter Kit, which contains a Baby Bath & Body Wash, a Baby Shampoo, a Baby Moisturiser, a Skin Soothing Lotion, and a Baby Massage Oil (pretty much everything you and your bub could need!) in handy 50mL bottles.

Don’t get caught unaw-hairs
You may have put your life on hold for your holiday, but believe it or not, your hair will continue to grow – even while you’re on vacation (how dare it??!). Finding a beauty therapist you can trust is hard enough in your hometown, let alone overseas or in a different city, so it’s best not to take any risks and rather rely on a good old-fashioned razor while you’re away.
The Philips Ladyshave Wet & Dry is compact, battery-operated (so no need to worry about international voltage), and can be used wet or dry, which allows for easy hair removal in any situation. It also comes with a nifty comb attachment to help trim and shape your bikini area, which is something that’s always welcome on a beach holiday!
Multi-task like a madwoman
Who can be bothered to spend hours in front of the bathroom mirror when there are sights to be seen and beaches to relax on? Definitely not me! But if the thought of stepping out completely barefaced scares the living daylights out of you, then listen up and listen good: it’s time to invest in a multi-tasking skin perfector. Garnier Miracle Skin Perfector BB Cream is a daily all-in-one moisturiser that protects you from the sun (with SPF 15), provides sheer tinted coverage, helps to even out your complexion, reduces sun spots and imperfections and boosts a healthy glow. That’s a lot of benefits for one beauty product! Plus a tube of Garnier BB Cream is only 50mL too so you can take it in your hand luggage on the plane and sport skin like a celeb when you touchdown – woo hoo!
Manage your make-up expectations
As much as you may love to experiment with different make-up looks when you’re at home, you’re just not going to be able to do that while on holiday (again, too much time spent in front of the mirror is a waste of precious holiday hours beauties!!). So be smart about the make-up you pack and choose as many two-in-ones as you can.
Australis Double Decker Eye Duos are perfect for a holiday as they feature a loose powder eyeshadow (perfect for daytime) and a metallic cream eyeshadow (amazing for nighttime) in one compact pack. Team it with a slick of waterproof mascara and a two-in-one cheek and lip tint (we love mememe Cheek & Lip Tint) and you’ll be guaranteed to look gorgeous!
Downsize on your hair ‘do
Despite the fact that you might use your hair-dryer, hair straightener and curling tongs on a daily basis, you don’t need to take them all on holiday with you. I repeat: you don’t need to take them all on holiday with you. Seriously. Not only is it a waste of space in your suitcase, but it’s also a pain in the a** to lug them around everywhere you go. Invest in a mini version of your straightening irons (we love VS Sassoon Mini Pro Ceramic Straightener) and I promise you you’ll be set. Most hotels will have a hairdryer in the room, and you can use your straightening irons to curl or smooth your hair – plus most mini versions of styling tools feature dual voltage so you can use them anywhere in the world.
Just don’t forget to pack miniature versions of your favourite hair styling essentials such as a heat protection spray, and a UV protection spray if you’re spending time in the sun.
Win! We've got one KiND Travel Pack to give away! For your chance to win, simply tell us in the comments section of this article, what your travel-happy beauty essentials are and why?
Competition closes midnight Sunday 1st January 2012.

Make up wise... Lipstick as a lip and cheek colour. A pressed black eye shadow for eye colour and liner, as well as a brown one for eyebrows, shadow and contour.
oh and translucent powder because you can use that to dust the roots of your hair to absorb excess oil on the go.. set your make up and eye shadow/liner. :D

My beauty travel essential includes a facial mist spray and moist cleansing wipes. These two products work to not only keep my skin hydrated during flights but also instantly freshen and cool my skin on busy sight seeing adventures and shopping marathons!

I travel relatively light when it comes to makeup and holidays, my essentials are tinted moisturiser, Nivea cream, one stick of mascara, a small eight coloured pallett of eyeshadows, a compact pressed powder, a concealer and a lipgloss. I only take these because I need all the time I have to explore the new wonders around me.

Skincare-wise, I take EVERYTHING with me, just decant them into small plastic bottles/jars, however I am conservative with my makeup essentials and limit my selection to neutrals that I know will work with any outfit. For bad hair days, i always pack a range of perky baseball caps, but make a special effort for night-time - in that regard, I'd be lost without my VS Sassoon miniPRO™ Dryer VS245A :-)

I always take travel sized hairspray, usually tresemme. Hair bands and bobby pins. Blotting paper to use during traveling, and i actually used travel bottles and fill them up with my own shampoo and conditioner, shower gel, and body lotion. Then a deodorant that's a roll on :)

I'm "dyslexic" in other bathrooms. Don't know what it is: I can't do anything but simple when I'm travelling. Tinted moisturiser is my must, as is sunscreen and after-sun creams. For make-up, I go cheap and native (what I can find in local stores). That way, if I have to leave it behind, it's not a tragedy.

I try to travel quite light as it means I can try new things at my destination! What I like is a moisturiser, lip balm, bronzer and SUNSCREEN!
Of course, bobby pins, but as I don't have a proper powder/foundation with me, I want to do my best to avoid that sunburnt look!

My travel-happy beauty essentials are Biore Face Wipes, lipgloss and balm, Hamilton Sunscreen Cream, tinted moisturiser, perfume (light scents), mascara, butterfly clip for my hair, nail polish and nail file, BO basher and dry shampoo. Having these items with me when travelling allows me to be ready for any occasion.

My travel-happy beauty essentials are:
- Burt's Bees lip calm, I love soft and moisturised lips
- Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunscreen Lotion, don't want to fry!
- Travel size Batiste dry shampoo for those time-poor moments as I tend to get greasy hair
- Blotting paper for oily skin moments
- Tinted moisturiser from ASAP, I don't wear much makeup
- Deodorant to keep me feeling fresh
- A bunch of hair ties, bobby pins and brushes
That's basically it! They'll keep me happy and fresh. :)

For long flights, lip balm and a moisturiser are a must! Lips and skin can become dry fast on a plane.

Facial wipes are my must bring travel essential
Without it, it’ll be like eating without utensils
My face will be a mess even one day without using it
Little red dots and blackheads appear quick
A pizza-face is something I have to fix.

Facial wipes to freshen up and feel clean while I'm on the plane. Then Nivea moisturiser to hydrate, followed with lip balm as the air conditioning always dries my skin. And this is before i get to my destination. I don't believe in traveling light. I take a smaller version of everything I use at home. So my shampoo and conditioner I put in travel bottles. Travel size perfume, hair spray etc., Your on holiday not at a retreat so enjoy.

Hubby travels regularly for work, sometimes with little notice, and believes a 'well-stocked, toiletries for travelling only' bag is essential. This ensures nothing is forgotten!
He's a big fan of the Mens Skincare Kit (by Body Shop) with all products <50mL.

Sunscreen and moisturiser are a must to protect and soothe my skin from the sun and surf. I also like to take a lip balm with SPF, some bronzer and mascara...it's the perfect fresh faced look for summer.

I like products that can multi-task (lip/cheek tints, tinted moisturiser etc), because it means carrying less products and less time spent on doing make up.

I always travel light and hence only bring the bare essentials. Definitely a facial cleanser and a pimple cream. Nothing ruins holiday photos more than those nasty little zits! I also throw in moisturiser, sunscreen and lip balm into my bag to keep myself looking healthy and naturally beautiful!

When I go on holidays, I always have in my bag...moist towelettes, sunscreen, lip gloss, toothpaste and brush plus a hair brush. I buy a skincare travel pack...something nice that I have not tried before. For make up, I take foundation, mascara and concealer as basics. I can then buy any thing I want while away......

I'm going to Thailand in 4 weeks and had no idea about the restrictions, thank gosh for this article! I'm planning on going easy on the alcohol and swigging the water on the flight and definitely going to invest in some BB cream. Faking my tan and loading up on sunscreen too is my top tip, no one wants to look or feel like a lobster on the beach, unless your an actual lobster!
