Catwalk to can do

Trawling though the latest images from Paris Fashion Week, I came across the Karl Lagerfeld show and instantly fell in love with the strong-yet-seductive make-up look.
Despite their skyscraper-high dos, the models looked the image of understated sexiness with their scarlet pouts and slightly flushed cheeks lending an alluring, feminine air to the more edgy clothes and hair.
And unlike some of the other beauty looks to emerge from the recent runways, this one is super simple to recreate! Here’s what MAC make-up artist, Emmanuel Sammartino, used to create this look for the Lagerfeld show:
Face:
A sheer base was created using MAC Face and Body Foundation, concealor was applied where needed, and MAC Cream Color Base in Vintage Rose applied with Sammartino’s fingers to slightly flush the models’ cheeks. (Also try: Natural Glamour AIRMIST Airbrush Foundation, and Bloom Sheer Colour Cream in Shy).
Eyes:
MAC Eye Shadow in Handwritten was blended up from the lash line to wash over the eyelids, before MAC Eye Shadow in Notoriety was swept from the lid to the crease of the eye to form a halo of colour. (Also try: Australis Cosmetics Mineral Eyeshadow in Sea Urchin, and Bourjois Pastel Lumiere in Marron Glace).
Lips:
MAC Lipstick in Danger was brushed onto the lips and finished with a more-than-generous slick of clear gloss. (Also try: Maybelline New York Color Sensational Lip Color in Summer Sunset).

When do you love to sport a scarlet pout?

Yes, I do! I think "Danger" is a fantastic name for red lipstick. Great choice, MAC! I like the model's makeup here. Gosh, that really is high hair taken to the extreme! : )

Thanks for the diagram and instructions Deb, makes it easier for us mortals to copy the look! I love to wear scarlet lips when I am keeping my eyes subtle. I often find I wear red lips when I am wearing grey - I must subconsciously feel the need to lift this sometimes-dull shade!

I love red lipstick, but I can't wear it because my lips are too thin and it looks too harsh. I just have to admire it on other people. *sniffle*

I love MAC but I can't afford to buy every MAC product I love. Deb, thanks for putting in affordable substitutes to create this look.

Great makeup look, no surprise its part of a Lagerfeld catwalk masterpiece! Love bold red lips here especially with the sculpted cheek bones and eyes. That hair do is wild. On myself i'd go a red lippie probably with subtle eyes like Ness suggests. I like to play up both but dont really go anywhere that would suit that look :) Thanks Deb for giving us the MAC and other brand options to recreate this. So dearly want to try MAC soon, this is a great way to learn different MAC products so I know where to start with my choice of a product.

I always love the look of a red lip but I'm way too scared to try it myself!!! Maybe one day I'll go to a makeup counter and get some professional help in the colpur matching department lol

I love the look of a red lip but not the impracticality of it.

This is a really great, fashion forward lookl I think anyone can wear red - you just have to find the right shade for your skin tone etc - having said that I have about 20 shades of "perfect"red, and the search goes on :-) Not too keen on the hair - unfortunately this would only emphasize my wide forehead. The makeup is great though.

I love a gorgeous red lipstick, but unfortunately I'm more of a pink toned gal. I have tried some reds and have gotten away with it, so maybe the more I wear it, the more braver I become.

I'm not a fan of bright red lips on myself.. I'm to concious of the lipstick running, or smudging it everywhere.
