Beat the summer heat

Well, the summer heat has finally arrived (if only the rain could stay away long enough for us to enjoy it), which means its good friend, humidity, is here too.
And as we all know, heat and humidity are a bad combo when it comes to keeping our make-up in place.
Luckily for you, we have some great beat-the-heat tips, just to make your summer days a bit more stress-free.
When it comes to foundation, it’s best to use an oil-free variant, or one that has a matte finish, as creamy or oil-based foundations tend to melt off quicker. Your pores will also thank you if you opt for something with a lightweight formula. Our pick: Estée Lauder Double Wear Light Stay-In-Place Make-up SPF 10. It has an oil-free formula, will last up to 15 hours, and is lightweight enough to feel comfortable in the summer heat.
If you’re anything like me and refuse to go without mascara, regardless of weather conditions, then opt for one that is sweat and water-resistant (who wants to step out of the ocean looking like a panda anyway?). Our pick: Benefit BADgal Waterproof Mascara. The long-lasting, smudge-proof and waterproof formula will ensure your mascara stays on those lashes and not on your cheeks.
And if you want to add some pop to your eyes with eyeshadow, make sure you put on a primer first. This will prevent your eyeshadow from melting into the creases of your lids. Our pick: NP Set Eye Primer. It’ll ensure your shadow lasts longer without running or smudging.

What are your beat-the-summer-heat tips?

It is difficult to avoid the shiny, greasy nose and forehead look in summer. My favourite remedy for this is MAC's blot powder. I just dust a bit over oily patches and my skin is as matte as it was in the morning. It's frustrating to have to do little touch ups like this, but I suppose its better than re-applying a whole face of makeup.

just my worry this time of year , stinking hot and showering . gotta love the tropics right ?
I find that using only concealer beats a full face melt off any day , and mascara , with you on that Carli

It's pretty much pointless trying to wear makeup in summer where I'm from. No foundation is any match for the heat we experience here. During summer I wear as little makeup as possible but when I do have to I stick to mineral powder foundation and waterproof mascara. Never leave home without blotting papers either.

I get the oilies in winter anyway (thanks teenage skin who seems to like getting all oily on me [I don't like you much for that, if you are listening skin] let alone during summer, where the humidity and sweat makes it worse!)
Might have to try blotting papers! Any suggestions under $10???

Best way to set your make up, so it does not drip off your face- a face mist. I love my Kosmea rose mist spray, perfect for those humid days. Not only it keeps my make up in place, its also cools my face down !

Dress loose and comfortable in natural fibres, sandals and open-toed shoes a half size bigger than you wear in winter (for those swell days), and I totally agree with you Carli - primer followed by long-wear foundation applied with a damp sponge followed by matte powder, forget the mascara unless it is totally waterproof/smudgeproof, and don't touch your face :-)

Summer time is all about glowing skin so I think a tinted moisturiser will be good for those hot humid days and when you don't feel like putting a thick mask of foundation on your face! Also I recommend a hydrating mist spray to instantly cool and calm your skin. Handy to use whenever!

keep a powder compact handy, touch up shiny nose and cheeks. Wear waterproof mascara so you don't get that panda eye look.

Nice suggestions!
I've been avoiding my liquid foundation these past couple days, because it just feels heavy and becomes greasy by the end of the day... I've become loyal to my powder foundation lately.

I find that if I mix my moisturiser with my foundation to create a tinted moisturiser, and then lightly powder on top, it keeps my face a lot less shiny than if I use moisturiser and then foundation on their own.. I hate touching up so by afternoon there is a bit of shine but it's very subtle so I don't mind too much :)
Oh and I SOOOOO want that EL foundaion!!!! :)

Dress comfortably and make sure to wear sunscreen, it's the best thing you could do for your skin in summer.

I tend to keep the makeup as minimal as possible, except for sunscreen, of course.

A less is more approach to foundation works best for me in the heat. I find oil free foundation tricky as Its great so makeup doesn't slide off but I need some moisure in mine as I have dry skin. Tinted moisturisers seem to cause me to break out. What foundation is best for me in the heat then? Any tips? Thats why so far I go less is more. I find I need to blot a lot in the heat, and as for humidity and hair.... Thats a whole other issue! I do agree Carli that an eye primer really makes a difference :)

sunscreen, tinted moisuriser, waterproof mascara and lipbalm is usually all I use on really hot days as most of it melts away within a couple of hours anyway.

i have found maybelline super stay foundation to b pretty good, i usally use NP or estee laurder, so was happy to find a cheaper option, still use primer and powder to finish it off, i find also washing my hair and they putting some product in it then braiding it to b better than having to dry it then style, easy ways the next day and a break from the hair dyer =)

I beat the heat by not wearing much makeup. If it isn't going to stay on, why bother? I just use, tinted sunscreen, concealer as needed and some pressed powder to combat shiny, summer skin.

A much lighter make-up - a tinted one with SPF30+ is perfect!
It's good to know that Bad gal Lash comes in a waterproof variety! I had no idea! Love this stuff!
